This watch has been getting some serious wrist time
-
Thanks justas! Its been fixed for a week now and the thing seems to be glued to my wrist im having a hard time taking it off..Definitely a new favorite of mine! Heres a repost of a pic of the finished product, ill try and get some new pics soon

The Zigmeister, thanks for the assesment - I already talked with the dealer and it supposedly worked when it was shipped out to me ...Very wierd - Its almost like the watch is keeping time in ultra slow mo - It takes 2-3 hours to make a full 60 minute rotation of the minute hand...When I first opened up the package the first thing I did was set the time and give it a few winds...I wound the crown about 5 rotations and on the 5th rotation it just stopped and it wont wind anymore...I set the watch down for 3 hours, came back and the same thing happened except this time I was only able to give the crown 2 full rotations and than it stopped again and wont wind...Very wierd

Im very impressed! John actually really knows his stuff! Thanks for clarifying pug!

Just got this modded 111h relumed and cannon pin fix (asian movement) and I love it! How ever it wont wind and wont keep time so it looks like i have to send it back...When I try to wind the crown, it gives alot of tension and will not rotate...The balance wheel is spinning, and the running seconds is sweeping but the minute hand wont advance...Im sure this is a quick fix, and im sure the dealer will fix it with no problem, i've heard of him actually replacing asian movements with swiss when problems like this arise...If not I have no objection to dishing out a couple extra bucks to have him put a swiss movement in...Well see what happens, other than that this transaction was flawless, impecable communication, SUPER fast shipping, and the lume on this watch is out of this world! I couldnt get a good shot of the lume, it's 50 times brighter than what this picture depicts

Yes vic, the only reason I doubted it is because in his post it shows his IP address...If someone was determined enough they could find out where he lives and go steal all of his nice gen rollies! Chck this out http://www.tmz.com/2007/10/17/john-mayer-watch-connoisseur/.

Id say the chances of this guy actually being John Mayer are slim...Might be a fan with a nice collection but you would think this famous musician has more important things to do...I seriously doubt John Mayer cares enough to post pics of his watches on the internet, just my thoughts but that would be really awesome If I was wrong and it was actually him EDIT : OK I Take that back guys...Apparently on Howard Stern JM was talking about his extensive watch collection even mentioning his cartier rolex, and Artie poked fun at him..I stand corrected..He also apparently blogged about OJ's fake rolex This is straight off his site: When O.J. Simpson was featured on TMZ with a now-infamous Rolex watch, I identified it immediately as a Submariner, in 18kt gold with blue bezel and blue dial. This is a rare watch made in the mid to late '80s and it's face has turned from blue to a brilliant purple. I've been on the hunt for this piece ever since, and I'm happy to report that my search has ended. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you the so-called "O.J." Dial Submariner. As somewhat of an astute collector, there is no doubt in my mind that this watch as it appeared on O.J.'s wrist is 100 percent authentic. He's still got it, and now I do too. What he forgets to mention is that the so called "Rolex" on OJ's wrist was a fake!!!

The see through case back is gnarly

I decided to go with the wholesaleoutlet insert this time around...I lucked out with the last insert and got a decent pearl

Watchbuff is a very good dude...I've had many long convos on the phone and in person and I must say his knowledge in this hobby thouroughly impressed me, and at the same time hes a standup guy- Good luck man, cant wait to see it when its all finished!
-
Im having watchbuff mod the CG's, drilling lug holes and also installing a new insert which is on its way...He just finished up the CG's it looks great, he did an awesome job!...I think they look pretty darn close to a gen..as you can see this watch has taken some heavy abuse and i must say for $98 it has definitly served its purpose - theres an aftermarket insert on it already, but its been scratched and nicked every which way...This watch has been very good to me, its great everywere, ocean, pool, shower, camping, cliff diving this watch has done it all...i think a new insert will freshen up this watch and make it look a little newer..also putting a black nato strap on it

Heres a side by side comparison of my franken...Gen's on the right ..looks indentical but I like my jubilee better

Heres a side by side comparison..gen on the right

Cool watch!! I like it and the rolex markings around the chapter ring are very subtle just like the gen. All in all this appears to be a fairly accurate rep - the only thing i can notice is the lack of a dash betwee the Air and the King other than that this watch looks great, love the guilloche pattern on the inside circle of dial..Very nice wear it in good health!
-
Also wanted to comment on the cubic-works datewheel - I really think that the slightly larger fonts on the overlay are not really/barely noticable - I think it lines up pretty nicely in the window and behind the mag... All in all the quest for this watch was quite a fun experience..

My franken is getting some action!
