Vince that's really funny..I cant wait to flaunt my franken when its done =) I was at the Tourneau on west 34th a month back wearing my nicest brooks brothers suite with my ss daytona tucked in, I also had my fathers gen datejust prez in hand and as I go to hand him my fathers DJ the daytona was slowly unveiled from beneath the sleeve - "That's a heck of a watch your wearing, there's close to a 4 year wait list for that here, may I ask were you found that beauty?" and I just said "On the internet" and quickly redirected the conversation to showing him what was wrong with the datejust...After explaining the problem to him, he of course asked if I wanted to take a look at a few new watches...I really really wanted too, but I didn't want to risk the integrity of my "real daytona" by taking it off on the counter so I said I was in a rush and left after a few minutes of window shopping...I'm sure since he saw a real DJ in front of him he assumed that the daytona was in fact real too. And why jeopardize a potential sale over an uncertainty or a callout? My theory is that the watch doesn't matter fake or real, it's who wears it! Anyways, so thats the only AD encounter I have had but it was certainly an unforgettable one..

Great review! If you dont mind me asking, how much did you pay for this? -
I don't know if this has been posted before, but I came across this while reading the NY times "watch your time" article - Its a million dollar Big Bang In the shop: Video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NIBs3sIWtvA

My wife brought this home to me, it's in this week's new york times - a special article/booklet on current watches - Highly suggest that everyone here gets this issue - its a great read! Enjoy! David

I just got a cubic works datewheel for my frankenjust project and it has closed 6,9's and it looks like it will perfectly lay over the current dw in this 2824-2..

It's like asking "Why do Aston Martins have to have manual transmission?" They don't - they put a crappy joke paddle-gear box in their new vantage - I wish they would just stick to manual, people apparently hate it the flappy paddle gear box... As for hand wind watches - they're great no complaints! I agree its part of the fun winding the watches, i'll go back to pugwash's analogy - just like part of the fun in driving a manual car is changing gears - Sure its sometimes annoying but the majority of the time its alot of fun!

Yes indeed, I lived in the city for 18 years and needed to get away from all the chaos, so I moved upstate and have had no regrets so far...Very peaceful and people are a lot friendlier

I work in corrections, but try to avoid wearing reps @ work...I deal with criminals on a day to day basis and I don't want them looking at me as a potential target to mug or rob because i'm wearing a flashy watch, so I usually wear my swiss army and sometimes my submariner because it doesn't look too blingy... @vic - indeed MG's are awesome - My pops went through 2 of them while living in california - In his time, they were considered one of the coolest cars..IMO they still are -
Ummmm....Ummmm....Ummmmmmmmm the guy who ummm does the ummm reviews is a total tool! But a good site for info none the less but I hate how he says ummm after every other word in his video reviews...

Thanks for the info, and very interesting story Vic! The panthere definitely looks way better on your wrist than it does on Montserrat Caballe's =P At 98$ you cant go wrong, that line up of those 3 helps a ton, thanks! I think its actually the perfect size not too big, not too small
-
I have to agree with vicky, Andrew has the best budget PAMs...I got my 005 for $120 or so and its the best IMO, the 21j version...People have said that I got the latest provision (like the 13th version or something) with the better crown guard and thicker crown...Heres mine

Very nice panthere victoria...I think that might be my next purchase for the wifey, she wants to know if it's bigger or smaller then her current tank francaise? Wearing my newly acquired hand me down gen datejust from the 70's, the thing has not been serviced once since purchased in 79' and it still sweeps as smooth as ever, and even keeps time within +/- 7 sec/day... tomorrow:
