  1. Haha!! Wow those legs look so gen haha
  2. 1 of my co-workers sent this to me, thought it was pretty amusing! Here are some creative pumpkins in spirit of Halloween! =)
  3. Haha I was thinking that while reading his post section 8...New season of Top gear just started yayy!!
  4. Nice pictures man! One of my favorites~
  5. I dont believe so kevin, even if there were to be a 'swiss' movement they would still have to add the extra 11 or so gears making it just as unrealiable as the val77...But I dont believe anyone has a swiss movt' version...I've been lucky with my 2 sec@6 daytonas, no problems so far they keep incredible time! My theory is that if you take good care of the movement than it will be good to you...These movements are notorious for being shipped out BONE DRY, so if you have the movt properly oiled and lubricated I strongly believe it is capable of lasting a long time
  6. BCE today
  7. Nice.....horse? Someone call the rabi we need a circumcision STAT!
  8. Jesus, nice little collection he has there, I got dibbs on that el primero i'll give you 800 for it :-o
  9. The only few that rubs is the PAM and BCE, but it barely even rubs enough to create any friction, but in anycase I dont keep it packed like that (did so just for the pic), for the PAM and BCE I let them have their own winder and all is well..Yes it automatically reverses when its winding. The top row has its own power button, and the bottom row does too..It winds for like 10-15 minutes and reverses every 4 minutes or so and than alternates directions. It rests for 15 minutes in between cycles and there is only 1 option you cant pick the duration of time/rest.Its also very quiet, I mean @ 40 bucks its not as bad as I expected it too be...Its actually pretty good minus the discoleration~
  10. My new winder arrived today, got it for $40 bucks on eBay...Heres part of my collection and the thing in action, for 40 bucks you cant beat it: look between the movado and the swiss army and theres some discoleration in the felt, you get what you pay for...its pretty silent and seems to work pretty nice so far but we'll see :-P
  11. Yes very true mentalist, BUT the guy had a real one on his wrist 4 inches from his face...Mabye its just that we know what to look for and the first thing we do is look for the imperfections, but I think when you have a real 1 side by side with a fake its quite easy to spot the differences...Guess not!
  12. So I went over to my local watchsmith today to have him take a stripped screw out of my andrews submariner and as soon as I walked in the first thing I noticed was a TT sub w/ blue dial on the wrist of this old fellow who was buying his wife a diamond...My watchsmith knows that I collect reps..So I commented and said "nice sub" and I hold mine up and he said "Thanks you too, I was thinking about getting the black SS version but I thought this 1 was a little cooler" and pointed to his wrist... I proceeded to hand it to him and he lays mine on his wrist side by side with his own and goes "I just might have to get this one too" ...Meanwhile my watchsmith has a big grin on his face, and so did I...We had this guy totally fooled and my watchsmith didn't say anything out of respect to me....Just thought that it was pretty funny considering my sub from andrew is BONE STOCK...Just goes to show you that an inexperienced eye couldn't tell the difference, EVEN THO HE HAD A GEN ONE ON HIS OWN WRIST, he still couldnt tell!! LOL! Long story short, I LOVE REPS!
  13. interesting...from far away they'd probably look somewhat similar but the text is alot thinner and crisper on the left dial
  14. Yup!Thats a funny story vb, but you're totally right, American express and their customer service really does rock...Pretty much anywere in the world, you can call them and ask for just about anything and they'll be more then happy to do it! It's really handy for vacations...Well worth the annual fee IMO~
  15. Very nice watchbuff! Nice to see a fellow new-yorker on these boards~ This is the current datewheel, ironicly its not so bad closed 6/9's but serrifed - I also ordered a dw from cubic so ill let you know how it is when it arrives
  16. Thanks guys, I ordered a datewheel from cubicworks, and am bidding on a crown on ebay, bought a set of hands from clarks...Lets just hope I can get this case and dial for a good price and than i'm ready to go~
  17. VISA = MASTERCARD....Pretty much anywere that accepts Visa, will generally also accept Mastercard...Personally I prefer an AMEX...Paying a $400 annual fee for a Platinum AMEX no limit card is the way to go IMO...Its well worth the $400/year fee, they have a great concierge service that you can use world wide...Last time I was in Mexico, in the Mayan Riviera I called their concierge service to find me a helicopter ride and they called back within 10 minutes telling me were to go and how much it is, it was a great experience!
  18. Thanks a ton alligoat, really appreciate the great info...I'll let you know how this project is coming along when all the parts arrive! Do I need a spacer to lock in the movement? Can I take it out of my rep DJ? The datewheels on cubic works dont have closed 6 and 9's but this 1 I found @ offrei does.. Will this fit? Generic Date Wheel White Cal. 3135
  19. Thanks alot guys, really appreciate the help! I just got a 2824-2 off ebay for 90 bucks and am waiting for the auction for the 16200 case w/ dial to end...What kind of hands will fit the 2824? Is there anything else I might need for this project besides the case, dial, movement, hands, tube, crown? What size tube do I need, 5.3 or 6? Will the plastic movement holder outa my rep datejust be able to hold this movement in the new case? I want to make this as easy a project as possible for my watchsmith~ Generic hands 3035 white 16000-3035 OR Generic hands 3135 white This is the ETA movt I purchased: Thanks!
  20. Right on...I will probbably just get a 1600 case instead, what kind of movement is reccomended for a 16000? Will a 2824-2 fit? Has anyone used a 1500 case for a franken? If so, what kind of movt. was used?
  21. Just wondering, will a 1500 case be a good case for a frankenjust? Will it accept a datejust dial and gen movt? Also, if I cant find a gen movement for a decent price, what kind of ETA movement would fit this case? Would a ETA 2836-2 fit in this?? If so, who can I source this movement from? Will this eta 2824-2 fit? Thanks!
  22. Thanks vbarret!! I couldn't agree with you more - I used to be a part of TRF and I must say that the quality of pics on their forums dont even come close to the quality of pics on these forums...When I first joined here, I couldn't take a good pic if my life depended on it...After reading pugwash's tutorials and jiro's PS tips I slowly began to improve with every picture - So I must give credit were credit is due - Pugwash, Jiro - YOU ROCK~
  23. @vbarret - that jubilee on your GMT is pure genius Great pics everyone - the quality of pics on this forum is really mindblowing - every wrist check just keeps getting better and better
  24. Awesome collection dude...Lovin that 2 tone sub~
