SMC summed it up nicely. The big issue is, you'll need tools and a clean work environment. The tools you need are: Caseback opening tool...or as some have used, a big ball of sticky duct tape or whatever to open the case up Small screwdrivers to remove the dial (regular jeweller's screwdrivers will be too big...these are somewhat specialized) Hand removal tool Hand setting tool (or toothpicks, cut and "pitted") Rodico for cleaning up fingerprints finger cots for keeping greasy hands off of the dial and the movement If you look at either my guide to movement swapping on a Noobmariner (Ajoesmith's guide that I reposted) or my Franck Muller Crazy Hours movement breakdown, it shows you the process of what needs to be done to decase, remove dial and hands, and reassemble everything. You can use standard 2 part epoxy for the glue or silicone. A rep friendly watch repair guy can easily do this for you and the cost will be minimal.

I agree with Theo. The TG Ceramic is one mean looking rep. Matte black with red jet hands...all business baby!! Perfect for island hopping in your Apache chopper...saving the world at the Baccarat table (screw Texas Holdem) or stealing lunch money from the geek in accounting. The green BP is a limited use rep. Only few wardrobe options will show this watch off as it should be which means it won't get much wrist time. As much as I'm not a big fan of the colour, I think it would look good as an oversized women's watch matched to something like a Luis Vuitton Multicolor bag or whatever...

The Fish is a a great first choice. I really love that white dial too!! Congrats.

You'll love it. It's a fantastic rep!! Get it on the bracelet...and you can add whatever strap your heart desires. Swapping the bracelet to the strap really makes it quite versatile.

The Gaytona came in gen form too...doesn't mean it looks good.

The forum rocks. Given the nature of some recent threads (not yours)...spend time and understand the culture of collecting and the forum...and you'll find this place to be the most knowledgeable and fun place to be for all your watch talk (and loosely related) diversional needs. As to straps...you'll learn that rep straps generally stink. There are a few that are alright (namely the Breitling thick leather ones)...but most of the dress leather straps are exceptionally crappy in quality. As to your fear...look your fear straight in the eye and say: "you're going down...I'm increasing my credit limit".

It looks like they just uploaded the whole Seiko and whatever else catalogue. All the pics look like gen catalogue pics to me. Maybe I'm wrong. They also don't have pics of anything but the dial side...so you can't see what kind of movement they are sticking in these as many of the Seiko 5 gens have display backs. Who knows what you'll actuall be getting. I wonder how many of these models listed are actually "in stock" or "available? That's what I mean by being skeptical that all of these are repped. I know with our rep dealers here...many of the watches are no longer available that are listed in their online catalogues...just to bump up the amount of product they have and hope you'll buy something else if what you want is not in stock.

You might have to upgrade the membership to a paid subscription to see the links. Be sure to read the trade reviews section from the main page (after login)...to view feedback about the various collectors. All collectors have received some bad feedback...so you have to decide for yourself who to go to. Read my Noob Guide linked in my signature, and that should help you through your introduction to the rep world. Welcome aboard.

Properly serviced...an A7750 powered watch SHOULD last a lifetime really...that means servicing every 5 or so years...the same as a gen. If you need replacement parts...that's where it gets tricky. I do this with the watches I like but don't wear as often. A new movement costs between $120-150...and the movement swap costs $75-120 or so. If you can do the swap yourself...then it's not a huge deal...and can be a good, cost effective route to keeping a watch alive. Some reps as we know, stop getting made, and availability becomes scarce. For the reps I really like...I get them serviced as I want them to be reliably around...the others...I'm willing to take my chance and will let the movement run to the ground. A serviced movement remember, does feel better...without that loud rotor.

I was going to suggest you adding a glazed gen croc strap to that...in both black and dark brown...2 totally different looks...and I agree, much more elegant.

Western Union payment is non-negotiable...fine with a trusted seller...but with an unknown internet vendor...kiss your money good bye. The odds of all these Seiko's being repped is quite low. I agree...this looks like a scam site. All their photos look like gen watches. I would say your quest for a good Seiko watch has ended here. You may not like the designs of the less contemporary offerings of the higher end brands here...but from the vendors here...you can be rest assured you'll at least get what's advertised.

I always say...buying reps is not like ordering form Wal-Mart. I'm not trying to shirk answering your question...but what collector to buy from depends on what your requirements are for a good buying experience. Most collectors here can get whatever you need...but if recommended by the forum...you'll be able to see reviews and experiences by the forum members. ALL collectors/dealers recommended here have given BAD experiences to at least a few members...so you have to read everything with a grain of salt. There's a link section that has dealer links that are board recommended, at the top of the forum interface...go there...then read the reviews in the reviews section from the main board. You can decide for yourself which dealer to go to. I've used Watchstation, Josh, Andrew, Silix (Jay), Angus...all with great service...and no problems. Others have had problems with all of them...that's why...read the reviews...decide for yourself...then email the collectors directly to see if they can get what you want.
