  1. I'm not sure which post you are talking about specifically. It's a bit off topic for this thread as it's not mentioned here...but in general (and in the spirit of this fine wannebe-posing membership helping out those in need), they are referring to the wish for a particular movement. It's usually a secs@6 movement that's wanted. This means the running seconds is located at the 6-o-clock subdial like on a modern Daytona, some IWC Portos, etc...a lot of watches have this configuration. The issue is that the rep movement (modified A7750) that has running secs@6 uses a few gears running "dry" metal-on-metal on a plate. Due to this bad design (not using "jewelled" gears which essentially act as bearings for the gears), the extra work on the engine causes premature wear and premature death of the movement. Look for Francisco's review of the "new and improved" running secs@6 as well as The Zigmeister's review of this movement : The Zigmeister's Secs@6 Francisco's New and Improved Seconds at 6 Review Francisco's Seconds at 12 Review Secs@3 usually refers to a tri-compax layout with subdials @ 3-6-9 instead of the usual 6-9-12...and in this case like the Breitling Montbrillant Legende, to get this layout and the date moved from the usual 3-o-clock position to the 6-o-clock position requires a plate and some gears, and means the datewheel appears sunken in the window. This modification is to mimic the rare and significantly more expensive 7753 movement. Hopefully this is what you're looking for. There's lots more on movements to be found linked in my Noob Guide.
  2. Updated with more useful links: Onzenuub's Rep Review Database The Zigmeister and Francisco's Movement Reviews, etc...
  3. We were just having fun...no harsh intent meant. Gotta have something to do to pass the time while we wait for Chinese New Years (CNY) to end and rep shipping can return to normal. You will find RWG to be the best forum around...rest assured. The content speaks for itself...and you'll find the membership are as sarcastic as any around...in a good way...and will bend over backwards to help. Just make sure as you've tried to do...to do your due diligence and understand the culture of the forum and rep collecting in general. Read the Noob Guide linked in my signature and you'll find a lot of answers to questions your likely to have. Welcome aboard...and enjoy the ride.
  4. The Zigmeister's the Man!!! Beautiful piece. I wish there was a better option for cases and dials than the expensive DW ones. Great looking piece.
  5. You won't be able to edit Sale or WTB posts or anything like that...just regular "conversational" posts...
  6. Details...DETAILS??? Which case...which dial? Problems that had to be overcome? It looks great. I like the small print of the ROLEX Cosmograph and the subdial fonts...excellent!!
  7. What's the story on this one??? Beautiful. Is that a gen?
  8. I did just this...looks good. I dented my aftermarket insert a bit just above the pearl...not noticeable really...and makes it seem more like the tool watch it was intended to be.
  9. I think I answered your questions above. Look in my Noob Guide for links by The Zigmeister on reviews of this movement if you want more details. Here's a cost breakdown to help you (USD): A7750 Replacement Movement - $150 Swiss Valjoux 7750 - $500 Swiss/Asian 7750 Servicing - $200 Parts - Available for Swiss...hard to get the common ones for Asian You don't have to service a rep with an A7750 for about 1 year...so you have a year to save up $200 for the servicing. If you want to go Swiss...you have to have the addition $350 right away...and usually more like $400-$500 if you buy it from some of the rep dealers as an upgrade...and you should STILL likely have to service the dry and dirty SWISS 7750 they stick in within 2 years. So...you'll have to service either movement within 2 years anyways...so if the maintenance cost is essentially the same ($200 within 1-2 years...then every 5 years after for both Swiss and Asian)...you have to figure out whether or not you want to spend $400 more for the Swiss movement...or use that money to buy another rep.
  10. It's economics. If you want your watch to last many years...service the A7750. If you see it as disposable...it MAY die in 2 years unserviced...or it may still run after 2 years serviced. The Zigmeister's recommendation is to service it within a year as most are dry and dirty which causes metal on metal wear...meaning replacement of parts is necessary and parts on an A7750 are hard to find (some ETA parts may fit...sometimes not). Many have had A7750's unserviced run for years without problems. Many have had gens unserviced for decades running fine without problems...you just increase the chances of an expensive repair being required with the time comes. A Swiss 7750 for the most part needs servicing within 5 years if it's new and bubble wrapped. Swiss movements found in reps are probably either used or old and surplused and have dry movements meaning they still should be serviced within a year or so. Servicing the Swiss costs the same as the Asian as the movement is essentially the same mechanically by design (not necessarily by part compatibility). Properly serviced (first time within 1 year, and every 5 years afterwards) will mean you won't need to replace parts likely, and the watch could last a lifetime (gen or Swiss). If you just want to try out a watch and see if you like it or for a current "trend"...buy it...don't service it...wear it down...and buy the next thing that tickles your fancy whenever it dies.
  11. Check out RobbieG's pics in this post on dress watch recommendations: RobbieG's VC Malte Chrono Pics Beautiful watch...great movement. A solid choice!! Here are a couple of his pics: Rob's posted different pics at different times on this site...and speaks very highly of this rep. I'm wavering on this one as well.
  12. Different opinions for different folks. Glad to see you have the pulse on the entire membership...somebody should. Hope you got the problems sorted out on your rep Chanel J12 from a couple years back...and got rep parts to fix your gen J12 from the membership here who are posing and being something other than helpful watch nuts.
  13. I would even say that you should stick around and read more...read the reviews...articles on movements...articles on modding watches...articles on photography...macro reviews, etc...and you'll soon see that as far as watch content goes, you'll be hard pressed to find it's equal out there in either the gen, rep or magazine world. I hope your time on this forum opens up your eyes to the level of community that exists here (members helping members with parts, advice and general encouragement) as well as the level of knowledge.
  14. I think most active folks on the FORUMS (gen and rep) are interested in watches, design, lore, history, etc at a level far beyond that of the general populace of rep buyers. The usual rep buyer wants their Rolex Sub, and then they're done. People who regularly contribute here are interested in horology in general...modifying things, tinkering, taking apart, learning the history, etc...not "posing". I would agree that the usual rep buyer is trying to be something they aren't...but the contributors here who are in the minority I'm sure...are genuinely, really interested in watches, design, mechanics and history. Many like the designs and could afford some rather expensive gens...but would rather buy many reps they find interesting...than only 1-2 expensive gens. Often...they end up buying the gens anyways.
  15. That looks good. That BCE is a great looking piece.
  16. Every person will have different goals of what they want their collection to be. I wanted mostly sport watches that could go semi-casual...so I have some chronos and some non-chronos. I wanted watches that could go both strap and bracelet for versatility and some that were a little more bling and some that were dressy. After you receive your BP...you'll realize there cannot be only 1.
  17. Ask and you shall receive!! Davidsen just released 3: BP Fifty Vintage
