  1. I might be interested as well. I've used them for camera equipment for years. We need them to protect our watches in case they get run over by large trucks.
  2. Good stuff. Jay's Asian SOSF I think is the best deal around at just over $100...instead of the more expensve $170 version!
  3. Great! You write a review of another watch like this...and I want to spend more money...and now I can't even spend it as the watch is not readily available. >sigh< Awesome review and pics, as always. You raise the bar continuously!!
  4. That's the kicker...no website. They are a full service shop for watch, clock and jewellery stuff (tools and supplies)...and old school. You have to call and order. They don't even have an up to date catalogue. You can get catalogues which are helpful...but any pricing has to be done by phone: 1-800-387-5117 sales@perrin.on.ca fax: 1-800-741-6139
  5. I would love to do the research on it and photograph it...but to be honest, I'm not fond enough of the design to actually buy it...and certainly not at close to $400. For that price...Lanikai's Ebel is looking tasty.
  6. What do I want to get?? The Stephane super aged SRSD - Amazing art work aging on the lume markers, rusty hands, flat 3's, gen parts up the yin yang...slick: SQL_PL's 16520 - another project grail watch with gen parts, Ebel guts...all the good stuff and the glory! BUT...as I am a failure and didn't retire at 17 because of the success of my Dot Com enterprise...I have to stick to reps. What reps would I like to get?? Lanikai's Ebel is looking great. I don't have a 3-6-9 configuration, and I think this is an interesting design using this version of the A7750. I like the carbon fiber like textured running seconds dial contrasting with the smoothness of the rest of the dial. It has an interesting clasp design, the quality according to Lani is great...which is a key factor for most of my rep buying (finding best of breeds): I'm really becoming fond of the 1655. I would love an Oli uber-Franken...but that's too much work and cost for me. TMG's version is looking good as a first Franken Project using the Omega hands, and probably a cheaper Clarks crystal. I like the orange GMT hand, and the vintage look to it. Too bad a rep 7836 bracelet doesn't exist...I'm not so fanatic as to pay huge bucks for a "gen" that may in fact be fake. TMG's is pictured below: I also like the incorrect 6263 from Joshua (picture below from Elprimerozen). Incorrect symmetrical chrono-pushers, big ROLEX printing on dial, but that acrylic tach ring...what's not to love?? ...and another one of these...they make great gifts! If you give someone a gift of a fake Rolex...they might look at you weird if they aren't really into watches, and don't understand why you would give somebody a good quality, well designed piece that wasn't genuine. However...give them a Crazy Hours...and they'll be too busy laughing or being amused by it to even think that a genuine of the thing actually does exist. Click the image for my review. I also would love a good rep of the new ceramic Rolex GMT with the larger case, maxi dial, ceramic or plastic bezel...I think that is an interesting departure point for Rolex design, before they get silly. Who knows if this will be made. I also like the Oris Carlos Coste...but it's too big for me.
  7. Enough of the politics...I want to know about the system that pages you when you're car doors are open and tells you the hood of your car is open as well!!
  8. Class acts all 'round...Mods...Tag for stepping up...and Tourby for being Tourby. Well done folks for not letting this go too crazy.
  9. This has been a great read. Having just gone for sushi...it brings everything into a new light. Hah hah. BTW...it's hard to see what's going on in the video...can you keep the camera steadier? ;P
  10. Hi folks, Stupid noobie me...in playing around with de-casing and regulating my 2006 Cousteau Divers, got dust caught in the case between the inner rotating bezel and the outer rehaut ring with the hour markers (as pictured below). Can anybody tell me how to remove the inner rotating bezel ring, and also the outer rehaut ring? Does the outer rehaut ring come off with the removal of the inner rotating bezel? There looks to be a screw inside the case on the rotating crown at 4-o-clock that I'm thinking holds the whole assembly in place...but I thought I would see if anybody has any more detailed information before I embark on this disassembly myself. Thanks for any help.
  11. You tease...posting about good Zig work without pics is as bad as...as...asking who has the best Sub.
  12. Get a pic photo-shopped in of jet flying over the first pic...and you will have a cover shot for a Breitling catalogue...well...not that it's a Breitling...but the style is there with the purple night sky. Fun!
  13. Hi, I'm sure most of you know this guys, but boy were they a treasure trove to me. Their prices are very reasonable...almost on par to Ofrei but Canadian dollars and cheaper shipping if you are domestic, and being in Toronto, I can drive up there and pick up the stuff...and save on ridiculous shipping costs. They have every tool imagineable, as well as movements, crystals, etc...everything. Gen parts, hands, crowns, tubes, etc... H & Perrin Co. Ltd. 90 Thorncliffe Park Dr Toronto, ON , M4H 1M5 Phone: 416-422-4600 FAX: 416-422-0290 They can get anything from the Bergeon catalogue...carry lots of Horotec stuff, etc. Ordering is a bit of a pain though...no website...no catalogue with prices...and their paper catalogue is incomplete...so you have to call them and ask what's available, and get pricing which can be pretty slow to have them browse through the computer...but, their staff have been reasonably knowledgeable...enough for a super-noob like me...maybe not for some of you Masters out there, but hey. Good luck!
  14. I have to agree. The watch is really comfy with the rubber strap. I was not a rubber strap believer until I tried on the gen (well...the Slevin gen)...now, I really like the rubber strap. It's a bit of a pain to put on and off as the strap is thick rubber...but it is really comfortable, and makes the watch sit nicer I think, than the bracelet which will add more bulk.
  15. Nice!! The power of DSLR is something I'm working on considering...I just have so much invested in outdated film hardware...that the switch is painful...it affects the watch budget!!
  16. Mine from Josh was correct...and I've been reading that others have arrived correct from Andrew and Silix. Mine failed pressure testing whereas Gioarmani's 2 from Andrew passed with no problems.
  17. Aaaaah...yes grasshopper...now you can leave the mountain. Just kidding as I know this was not aimed at you. Mind you...it's also a perfect example that just telling someone to use search instead of really looking at the current status of the answers doesn't help as much either...as things change in 6 months...so imagine a year!!
  18. Thanks Ali G That's exactly the info I was looking for. I thought the font on the Clarks insert looked a little better and the Pearl was decent. I thought of Watchmaterial...but had been reading some people have had problems with the quality or something or other (can't remember what)...and besides, I couldn't find it exactly as you said...I didn't search properly due to the software glitch. Thanks again!
  19. I think it's a good thing. There are different forums for different personalities and interests. If everyone only had one to choose from, I don't think the dynamic would be the same. I consider it like a neighbourhood having a number of restaurants serving the same food. The same people might frequent some of them...but each resto will have a personality that matches better with the clientele's personality so regulars will create an ambiance that is the signature of that resto...or in this case, the forum.

    SNOW!

Excellent. Yup...leave those Christmas lights on all year 'round.
  21. OK...super Noob question here. I want to start doing this aftermarket mod thing...and am interested in getting rid of my zit. So...I'm thinking of the Clarks 16800 insert as in Fleabay Item #300216349547 Clarks Ebay 16800 Insert I'm not sure if the URL works...but the Item # should. Is this the correct bezel insert?? I couldn't find one specifically for the 16610, but according to Gioarmani's guide, his supplier's (whose link isn't working) insert is a 16800-1 insert...so I'm assuming this is the same? Does anybody have any other suggestions??? I feel like a total rookie here, having never ordered aftermarket parts like this before... Thanks.
  22. I have to admit, I wasn't really sold on most Tags...that was until I went to the AD and saw the Carrera. That is one nice watch I have to admit...I think of getting one of those...then think that I like the Moon Watch more and I don't have a manual movement chrono yet...then I think the Carrera would be nice...then I think maybe an inaccurate but very nice vintage Daytona...then I think maybe the Aquaracer... ...and on and on and on... You know the story...
