That's the funny thing about some of these models. You need one person to step up and buy one...write a review (good or bad) but post killer pics...and then suddenly you get discussion.
I know for me and some others, we don't think twice about a watch...then suddenly somebody posts some really nice pics...and then the credit card is suddenly pulled out and we don't even realize it.
Lani has made me think more than TWICE about a pieces with his pics.
I didn't think much about the AP ROO RB's until some pics started showing up...then suddenly...wow!!
I remember awhile back there was a big discussion about lume and the NEED for some new brands to be introduced in high end reps. The Cartel introduced a couple watches by Ball...and I thought that would generate discussion...so I posted a thread...and NOTHING.
Do we see any other Ball watches?? Nope. Goes to show why there's no Ball section.
Same with Ulysse Nardin...not a lot of discussion at the start...but a few passionate members who posted a lot on the brand...now, lots more discussion...lots more brands.
Part of it is the overall taste trend...other part of it is education and exposure!!
Keep posting...keep being active...
WHOOOOAAAHHH!!!! You got one that fast?????
Muy Hermoso!!!
Big Congrats. If the people over at "that other place" only knew that the best support comes from that which many shun...tsk task.
Big congrats again...and again...and again!!
And that's the hope...that when people start seeing this more and more that THAT becomes the essence of RWG that people WANT to be a part of and don't need convincing why they should do so.
The fact that it's also got the best watchmasters, photographers, historians and dedicated community support team around...well...it's allllll icing baby!
Hah hah...BUT, while this concept of Word Assocation on the forum is not new...it was YOU P4 who dragged it out of the fire...YOU are to blame.
Out of the fire...finds rebirth!!!
PHOENIX!!
So...awhile back a Noob sends me PM asking what the point is of paying a membership for a forum which is free to access. I went through the usual explanation of how the hope is that they find the info here to be of value in saving him money, and that to ensure the continuity of this info he should consider a subscription and take ownership of this place.
I also indicated that the hope was that he would find more here than the specific info they may have been looking for for a single watch...that a sense of community would be built.
I've experienced this sense of community and comraderie time and time again...and most recently from Ubiquitous.
I had a screwed up crown on a 6263 that needed replacing...and what happens? Ubi not only rummages through his parts box for a spare crown...but for a few, with stems and throws in a replacement dial for one I botched as well...all refusing payment for even postage!!
Wow. Generosity and class at his finest. This is what RWG is about...sharing in a passion understood by few!!!
Thanks Ubi!!
There we go...further research is indicating stay away. The prices seem to be on mark to used watch prices on El Bay though. Sucks. I would say look for the more reputable dealers on El Bay or Nanuq, Stephane, Freddy, etc use or can recommend. They've mentioned a few in various posts.
Thanks Mr. Goat!! I didn't look into the company too hard...so didn't know what to say.
The Asian faux chrono movement can only READILY be replaced with the same to match the printing on the dial. If you replace it with something else, the function of the dials won't work...and I'm not sure what movement with different function would fit the combination of subdial spacing and hand size.
Is this the movement with the day and month that are operated by clicks of the chrono pushers, and the other subdial operates as a 24h time indicator?
The only thing I think you can do is to try and source a movement...see if it fits your dial layout and case, and hands. I haven't read anything on people doing this as far as instructions go...so this might be a true modding forging of new territory.
$5,5000 - $7,500 is about market rate for a pre-owned YM...depending on availability of papers, dealer, and boxes.
I'm unfamiliar with the site though...don't know if I would go Scam-site claims without further research.
I'm not so sure on that. There are quite a few bargain A21j PVD watches:
Sinn U1 Rolex Milgauss Pro-Hunter Rolex DSSD Pro-Hunter Jacques Piccard LE B&R BR02 Instrument PVD series All these can be had for <$150 USD in the Asain 2813 or generic a21j versions.
Look for Homer for working tourbillons. I believe he can be found on El Bay. There are pics of his watches here. I've never heard of watseller...would stay away. REAL tourby's will cost around the $500 - $1000 mark. If it's $100...it's a fake tourby.
The pic you show is pretty good...looks ALMOST genuine. Well it should...it's a GEN catalogue drawing. That's a real tourby...you will NOT get that watch for $250.
Fake tourby's should cost <$150. Real tourby's will cost >$500 generally.
Tourby Link #1
That's the thing...like T-boss said...don't use a rep for critical issues / calculations. Hackr picked up a Datora that had properly aligned slide rule markings...but that was on the critical markers...not sure if the rest of the gradations are correct.
