  1. Check out Pug's Tutorial HERE. There was another more recent guide using the new interface...and I can't find it.
  2. Welcome back. Congrats on graduating...and hopefully you've found yourself some good work to help pay back school debt. Let me know how the GMT IIc servicing goes. Servicing has been the one issue that holds me from buying a GMT rep.
  3. EDITED: I usually press the stem release button to put the stem back in on the 2824 / 2836. If you pushed too hard on insertion/removal, you may have buggered the keyless works and this can't be fixed without taking the dial off.
  4. I have a crappy Asian 21j that has died on me and I'm thinking of swapping in an ETA 2836. Can anybody tell me off hand what the part number is for the gen handset? As well, does anybody know if the date window positioning will be screwed up if I switch to an ETA? I'll assume I'll have to use dial dots after cutting the dial feet off...and I'll have to get a new movement spacer, but the datewheel should at least be right being a gen ETA.
  5. Hopefully you'll get your watch...and hopefully it will work. They're pretty standard low end reps, so even if things die quickly, you won't be out too much money.
  6. Nice pics guys. Andei...slick!! Love that OR on the Skyland Hike...I think I should get one of those...but for the price of the strap, I can almost get a new UN MMD.
  7. A Ti one...that would be something... I'm glad it's not ANOTHER honking monster watch like a PAM Egiziano (sp??) or an SA which I don't have the body morphology to wear (yeah...I'm a skinny runt compared to By-Tor or Lani).
  8. Not a whole lot of substance...nothing really new other than updated global counterfeit revenue estimates...but still good reading. Thanks for sharing.
  9. It's nice...but it looks too much like a smaller SA, or even like a BCE. The Skyland had "oomph" to me because of the interest of the military style stencil numbers...this is like recycling a basic design again and again...
  10. Zig is a big pocket watch guy!! Hopefully he'll chime in.
  11. I ended up picking up hardcore athletic yoga as a cross-training activity, and have not had better results over any SINGLE activity even when training hardcore for competitive rowing and cycling. The overall conditioning, general core strengthening, balance and flexibility improvements were astonishing. In itself, I think any activity has shortcomings...but I now integrate it regularly with cycling, swimming and rock climbing and find it one of the best cornerstone training foundations around. Obviously it's not good for packing on pounds...but for sports like cycling or running, the strengthening and flexibility increase are extremely useful, and as a recovery aid are sound. For climbing, the balance and flexibility improvements are key. I highly recommend people try integrating it into your regime. The local flora and fauna that attend an intermediate or advanced class are...ummm...very motivating as well...
  12. I'll bid on the soon-to-come raffle tix.
  13. Well that's inconvenient isn't it Zig (needing folks like you to have to machine these that is). Sheesh...and to think that a company like Seagull who sells complete watches and movements doesn't have a supply chain operation. It's sad. I had an email in to the American Seagull rep...didn't hear back. Lucky to have you on the team Zig!!
  14. I'm not sure if you want to mix the lume with the epoxy unless you are building the lume dot first. The point of doing this mod is that the gen pearls have a sapphire or something clear piece on top of the lume to make it seem like it's got some more dimension. If you mix the lume in with the epoxy, it will just look like a filled in lume dot. I have comparisons of the gen pearls and some others in the Noobmariner comparison in my sig.
  15. I know Nanuq knows this, but if anyone needs motivation to get active, have kids! Seeing the assumption that lots of physical activity is just a part of everyday life, that the car stays parked for days on end, and that the kids assume you'll get around by bike is so motivating to keep that lifestyle going it's great. For my kids to know that driving is something done rarely, and with a specific purpose, rather than part of a lifestyle is very rewarding. Unfortunately, we bought an old small house close to my work so my commute is only 7km. If I extend the commute on the way home, I can get in 20km a day...nothing really unfortunately. I used to commute 40km a day...that was more productive. Now, I have a beautiful close to 30 year old custom road bike updated to older Dura Ace STI stuff that I love...but haven't had a chance to ride too much, as I just ride my commuting beater. More importantly, my wife and I have a fantastic Santana touring tandem with nice Ultegra and XTR stuff (yes on tandems you can effectively mix road and MTB parts) that with kids, we have yet to ride for years. Soon...we'll get the kids started riding the tandem...and then getting on their own bikes. Big congrats on keeping it going John!! The bonding with your son at that age, doing stuff like that? Priceless. I am sooo looking forward to that. My kids are 75% younger. Don't worry too much about the weight...worry about how you feel, and how strong you're getting. Muscle weighs more than fat!!
  16. I attempted it once...but died on transposing. My brain hurt...it was a fun exercise. Kudos to those that can do it. Wow!!
  17. Beautiful stuff. The vintage Pams are stunners.
  18. Hey Lani...I think you might be thinking of the PO insert. I don't recall there being an orange and black insert for an SMP Chrono...maybe I'm wrong on this though. Either way...for the OP, upgrading is still a good idea to support the forum!!
  19. Well...I'm looking at the Joseph Watch version (got the 1 day membership)...and the scans are of mediocre quality. I've put in a bid for a higher quality (hopefully) CD of the set. I'll let you know when it arrives.
