  1. I don't actually worry about the beat too much as my gens are vintage slow beats, so a slow beat looks gen to me.
  2. I read other sites...but to be honest I don't post much on the other ones. I did enter the PAM 005 raffle...lot of good that did me. I was thinking I would mirror some of my posts...but time and effort, time and effort.
  3. As far as value goes, I think closer to the <$150 mark really is the line to be drawn. For $250 you can easily get some great chrono watches with function AND build quality. For <$150 you can get the cheap Milgauss, DSSD, Noob, etc. Bear in mind a WM9 piece is over 2x the price of a Noob which generally includes FREE shipping. If you want to discuss which is the better rep a SSD or a WM9, that is a different question than which is better value. For me, the value between the 2 is definitely the Lite SSD, screw the movement swap. The better rep?? I would probably still go with the SSD but with a Swiss movement.
  4. 1655's in general are a bit tricky. As a watch on their own, they are quite nice. If you are looking at high accuracy, ALL vintages need work (not just in weathering the watch). There are numerous threads on changing bezels, crystal changes, putting on gen Omega hands, and work on the dials. It all depends on how accurate you want to make it or how interested you are in a project. Bear in mind, at a watch valued in the neighbourhood of $10-15K depending on the condition and series, few will ever have seen a genuine to know the difference between them.
  5. The only people who would put up that kind of watch without reserve would be Antiquorum, knowing they would fetch in the low in the 6 figures for it...as opposed to a $1000+.
  6. Hah hah...it's not a matter of coolness...it's a matter of I have a high "potential sucker" rating.
  7. There is no Titanium version of this watch. There's a PVD version done to the theme of the Pro-Hunter series of watches. The $99 version (or $108 as Josh has it) uses the cheap and cheerful 2813 movement. He carries an Asian 2836 or a Swiss 2836 for more. The latter being the crap shoot if he actually gets a real Swiss ETA movement or a copy and these days it seems difficult to tell which one you actually get, so many recommend just asking for the Asian version.
  8. Sometimes datewheels and things slip on these and jam things up. With servicing, Zig has had to add special washers and things to hold parts in place as they are not there in the design of the watches. So yes, there are inherent flaws in the design of some of the reps which leads to premature failure needing fixing in some cases. Unfortunately, if you sent it back for servicing/warranty from your dealer, you'll either have the dealer stop selling to you if you do it too regularly (or even slightly regularly), or it will not be worth it due to costs for shipping, downtime, etc.
  9. They SHOULD be independent actions. If they stem is the proper length, the clicks on the stem should determine which position it is in and what will happen. When pushed in all the way to the case to the position where the crown would screw in, it should wind the watch and have no effect on setting time or date. Date and time setting should be able to be performed independently.
  10. Nice collection. I like your panda dial one. I'm thinking of getting an Apollo 11 35th...
  11. Great post. Thanks for this. A good opportunity you had...and you seized it.
  12. You would still need to get the deployment for it anyways. It's actually best to get both options right off at the start to avoid high relative shipping costs JUST to get either a strap, bracelet or buckle. The Day Date Carrera from Josh (jpc8118) is the big size...not the smaller older version that was 41mm.
  13. Same as Rollie collectors: 1675 Pepsi 1675 Pepsi gilt dial 1675 Pepsi matte dial 1675 Pepsi gloss dial 1675 Pepsi underline dial etc, etc... THEN...you move onto the Sub collectors...yowzaaa!!
  14. It's standard collector's mentality. Think of gen and rep PAM collectors who buy 101 variations of watches that really look the same. It's the subtlety of difference that makes people want to get all variants available.
  15. I got that one...and forwarded it to the mods!
  16. It's a nice watch. In rep form, I always have a fear of the gold wearing off too early. I suppose lasting 3-5 years is a reasonable life for a rep in general, with occasional wear.
  17. Hah. Nice. If it were black and red, you'd have to fight Nikki6 for it.
