  1. This particular ETA movement in the PAM handwinds typically comes with a stock sized cannon pinion (center pinion holding the hands) from the rep manufacturers. I always assumed this is the standard length that comes whne you buy ETA parts or movements in bulk. The fix is replacing it with either an elongated one or, depending on the dial and hand configuration, shaving down the thickness of the ring on the hand that holds it in place. Replacing the pinion is the preferred fix. And yes, the Chinese movements have an elongated pinion.
  2. Yes he had mentioned they were selling an initial version. Most people are going to wait for the engraving and buy it cheaper from Angus.
  3. I am with TVT. Although I don't wear it that often for fear of its delicacy the Newman Daytona gives me great pride when wearing it. My other surprise was the 036. I had managed to avoid all manual wind luminors as I prefer having a date. I bought it simply because it was the infamous Josh 2005 but now I find myself wearing it often.
  4. Oliver- Could I use this spray to remove the gloss on my 188 (white dial)? And if so, what brand of spray. Thanks, Kruz
  5. Look on their web sites. I have the Power Reserve de Marche. Very close to the gen other than a mispainted tip on the second hand on one version. Added bonus of Seiki/Myota excellent movement. The back is clear on the rep when it should be solid but on the wrist it looks fantastic. And it should be in the $100-120 range.
  6. I agree that the Daytona black/red dial looks Invictaish. To make matters worse, if I remember correctly, I believe that dial comes only on the White Gold. Leave it to Richemont to schmaltze up a classic.
  7. Biggest downside to Pre-V's on the automatics is you have to swap the strap every time you want to put it back on the watchwinder. Enhances liklihood of stripping screws/case and scratching the case for those with two thumbs like myself. Still love them though.
  8. You are buying the only watch where it is difficult to buy below list when new. It is fairly humorous that you can get better discounts on better established brands with unique movements. On PAM's buy pre-owned. And it looks to me like they are getting only cheaper as regards to the basic models. You don't get a warranty but they are fairly simple watches to repair.
  9. Arthur- Congrats on the Birthday. Happy holidays as well while we are at it.
  10. 24/24 with Pre-V buckle is my favorite to look at. But from a comfort perspective I prefer the 24/22. Needless to say, I have a fabulous collection of Pre-V's.
  11. I have that one as well. The biggest issue is whether ti reps will continue to be available. Have you ever noticed they come and go rather quickly (other than the PAM 036, etc.). IWC GST - gone. Proper Breitling Chrono Avenger - gone. Ti requires a different set-up for manufacturing. My rule of thumb is if you see a ti model you like than buy it.
  12. I want 10. They will make great Christmas gifts. I will have those clients forever.
  13. The technology is there to do this. And the funny thing is that unless you have the correct (read as actual) plates and specific screening machine utilized by the watch companies you are likely to get better results this way. The watchmakers use dedicated screening machines and permanent micro-tolerance jigs which are built to very tight specs themselves. Because of these facts screening almost never ends up in truly accurate numbers or proper date alignment within the box. Look at all the travails Finepics and Lello have undergone. And, let me be clear, that I am not criticizing their work. I am sure it will be very good when complete. But even with the date overlay alternative critical elements of getting it right include utilizing proper thickness non-fade printing material, readily usable adhesion system for proper alignment, appropriate quality and form of printing and ink and very precise cutting. You would be surprised how complex it becomes. But you can get it perfect. And the best part is that once it is perfected it is very easy to make datewheels for a number of different brands.
  14. I understand both points of view. Whether the flyback feature works or not is irrelevant. I owned a Fly back gen and never used it. If you actually need that function in real life you actually need a multi-timer (ala Casio or nike digital). But it does bother me when a rep does not function in the same manner as the gen. The 212 is the first one where I bought in spite of the fact that the flyback function doesn't work. On the luxury watches like VC and PP they are improving the reps as evidenced on the VC Overseas and the AP's. The issue with those brands is that 99% of all gens other than their lower end sports models are precious metals and we all know how gold plating compares to solid gold and how close platinum looks to SS.
  15. Need is all relative. But they should be forthcoming shortly me thinks.
  16. Estaban- Good to hear on the Inge. I have never seen the gen but had seen a couple of pics on TZ.
  17. I second the 29. Very nice hgih class collection.
  18. Knock on wood as I say this but I have never had a package hung up in Customs. So always less than a day. Ergo, I checked off the 2-6 hours box. But who knows.
  19. Great stuff. Keep it coming. I am enjoying this thread. I am without camera so I am useless. But one of Santa's helpers has told me there is a D80 in my future and I can't wait.
  20. Compared to the "off-topic section" it is a drop in the bucket. Should not be in General Discussion section though.
  21. I have to say mine functions beautifully. Replace the case with a non-button case, put on a watchwinder and you have an excellent PAM PR rep.
