  1. Does Tapatalk provide faster loading than safari on an IPAD?
  2. I hadn't noticed the one hole on the leather. Now that is a bespoke strap - better than a gen.
  3. Had no idea who he was before this thread but that co-axial video says it all. That is one of the major achievements in horology.
  4. Can someone tell me why Tapatalk is so great for an IPad. Is there a way to check new posts only?
  5. Can't wait to see V3. I am just building one for the first time since my last Pre-A with tritium dial. I am loving that CG for your latest. Best of luck with the brushing.
  6. It's kind of like the homeless person with a sign saying $10,000 for a cup of coffee. It only takes one.
  7. E- Good to see you back. It's time for a custom diver strap.
  8. Has anyone gotten the gen or even AP endlinks to sit properly on the rep case? I tried them at some point and they sat horribly. I also find that the AP endlinks don't sit as well either. Instead I just enlarge the case side strap pin hole to give the links just enough play to allow the end links to sit properly. People always point to pictures of gens where the endlinks look totally off but most of the time that relates to a watch which originally had a bracelet on it and someone did a crappy job. Also older cases in the gen world (with the original JLC movement in it) have slightly different dimensions. If you walk into one of the Ap boutiques the end links all sit beautifully on their watches. If anyone has any readily available I would love to see some pics of the AP bands or gen endlinks on the rep case.
  9. I love Ap's but IMHO this one will never get close to there - combination of case material and clear caseback. Unfortunately as AP rolls out additional Offshores with clear casebacks this party is over. I have never been comfortable sporting a watch where you live in fear that someone asks you to take it off your wrist to try it on.
  10. I understand your frustration at the delay but as others have said she is doing the right thing trying to make sure you get a good one.
  11. Holy cow! Great stuff. Impressive work and equally impressive post. A custom stem for a pre-v project...somewhat fitting.
  12. I'm partial to the 5512. It just feels rarer - because it is. When it came out it was another $1000 or so more when a grand was real money. Here is mine bought from another forum member:
  13. I don't think you are right on the gen straps. I was at the AD (boutique) several weeks ago and asked . From memory I believe the prices were $3oo ish for leather, $400 ish for regular crocodile amd $500 ish for hornback. The deployant is what is very expensive so that may be how you heard $1300. Any AD is happy to order them for you if you walk in the door.
  14. I would say yes but you can always wait until you get the watch and then decide and you always have the rubber option.
  15. I can only speak for the U.S. but over a 7+ year period I have had to return at least a half a dozen watches to different dealers to China and none ever got lost. More importantly, once you take it on yourself it is your nickel. And by the way, more often than not the dealer would actually send me a new one rather than making me wait for the repair. They just want to get yours first to make sure you didn't make it worse or inflict the damage in the first place.
  16. Very nice project. Seems to really make a difference.
