  1. Pete- Much thanks for the pics. Can't wait to see it on your wrist.
  2. Very cool. Unfortunately the Kings are too big on my wrist otherwise it would be getting serious consideration. These Hublots are really improving.
  3. Great pics and great review. It is a beautiful watch. Does it have the same functionality as the gen?
  4. I think is going to be difficult. In the big scheme of flaws it is one of the lesser ones. It will be difficult to rectify because even if you reshape the underlying metal shape you still have to get the rubber to wrap tight to show the different shape. Here are a pair of Ap's - one with gen and the other with rep pushers. And here are the pushers (gen):
  5. Actually I think the biggest tell on both is the lume on the inner tachy ring. You should also bear in mind that the lumed area of the tachy ring is a tad long relative to the gen and only properly lines up with the markers at a "half click" on the inner bezel adjustment mechanism. Fact of life but still a great rep.
  6. I own the Cousteau and love it but would pick the Slevin. With the Cousteau you are stuck with the rubber strap and IMHO it is really only wearable for sport for that reason. The Slevin on a bracelet dresses up much nicer. And although smaller the Slevin does wear large for a 42mm.
  7. Congrats on a stunning uber-franken. I would be prouder of that piece than any gen.
  8. It either has to be a coating on top of the lume or they are using a cheaper substitute for lume which has always been my long term fear. Lume is the one thing that even Chinese factories have to pay for. It is only a matter of time before they re-engineer it and come out with something inferior. And on this one it makes even more sense since the gen is tritium so the required glow is less.
  9. The biggest issue on the markers is the thickness and profile of the lume. This is AP's dive watch so they literally stuffed the markers and hands with lume. A relume solves it very nicely.
  10. The strap he is referring to comes from AP bands and they also sell a tang buckle in brushed ss that can go with it. The strap is not cheap $150-$200 (can't remember) nor is the buckle but it looks great.
  11. Great watch. I would guess (and it is a guess) that that particular version has a steeper tachy ring to reveal more of the edges of the dial and make the date appear to move more to the left (closer to gen). But someone else can pile in. Watch looks great. I got that same strap with a white themes and you definitely should upgrade the strap when funds permit. Most importantly, it looks great. Wear it well.
  12. Nice combo. It's funny how new shoes can reinvigorate the interest in an old watch. Wear that one well.
  13. By the way there are a couple of star older members who have quietly come back as well. I won't say but keep your eyes out.
  14. Geoff- It's great to see you back. Stay for a while (kruzer from the old days)
  15. It is a gorgeous watch - but I am in shock. Wolf - a hublot? Then again it looks so good I may have to give in. As always, great pics.
  16. Agreed. This crystal is most likely much thicker and otherwise has the same dimensions as the BB King (no not the guitarist )
  17. The fact that the hands are not changing color would lead me to guess (and guess it is) that there is a topcoat of some form of shellac or sealer on the dial markers and that may cause it. We will have to see if others have the same issue.
  18. Absolutely gorgeous watch. Over the years a few dials and handsets have come up. But the rep bezel always had the shorter markings which were a dead giveaway. The gen bezel is the icing on the cake. Wear that one well. If you can solve the stationary bezel issue that would be amazing.
  19. Of course Sander and Ubi have it right. My two instant tells are the size of the hand tubes and the line-up of the crown and pushers.
  20. Do you think someone told them all to put their hand on their hips or they came up with that by themselves.
  21. Orloff does do beautiful work. Wear that one well.
  22. Exactly right. You would be surprised how often I see gens where the repair person has put on the cg backward.
  23. Theo- I hope someone on the dealer side is listening to you. It would be great if they got it right the first time.
