  1. I hope those parts came from the original seller. Otherwise you are most likely out of luck. A number of folks have gone out and independently bought those parts (from Ofrei, Cousins, etc.) for a 2892 and they don't work. You need those parts made explicitly for an LWO 283 movement (i.e DD chrono module). I still am a believer in buying a complete TAG or Concord watch for $400-500. They come with a better cyclops, date font closer to AP and you know they have the proper canon pinion and hour wheel. Best of luck with the build in any case. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.
  2. It should be a slight improvement over the V2 in terms of case finish. I wouldn't buy it if you already had a V2 but it is an improvement. My guess (and it is a guess as I have never seen the gen) is that with "sandblasting only" the color will be a little "grayer" than V2. In either version it is still one of the great reps and truly different from many of the other AP ROO's. It definitely wears lighter than the standard SS. In reality when they did a new run of cases to meet the demand (whether it is better or worse than the gen) its cheaper to go straight to sandblasting rather than a two step brush and blast. We will never know which one is closer as no one does true color neutral pictures nor do we know exactly what AP does in preparation to the ti prior to blasting. But either way you can't lose. I love this rep.
  3. Congrats. What a great pair. I may have to dig up my 23 this week and throw it on the wrist.
  4. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly the tritium on a Panerai degrades versus Rolex. My '66 Rolex has better glow and is closer to yellow than my PAM 170 which would be around 2003 or so. The other thing I can't explain is that my PAM dials with surrounds on the marker seem to "go brown" much faster than say a 24A dial which remains fairly yellow. I have a 24A dial sitting out in the open as a spare and it is still the original yellow and I am in a moderate climate (Northeast USA).
  5. The crownguard is actually patented and Panerai has in the past pursued violators. I have no idea whether that patent is still relevant when there is no locking mechanism (i.e. lever) ....
  6. I prefer the white dial. It is amazing how much better that watch looks in SS (or white gold for that matter). I grew up seeing many of them in yellow or rose gold and found them rather tacky (or at least often on tacky people). That one just screams subtle elegance.
  7. Only you can decide. We all go through phases many versus few, rep versus gen, favorite brand, etc. So it really matters what is important to you at the moment. The only advice I would give is that if you do buy the gen pick it up second hand and at a reasonable price because you never know when you will change your mind again.
  8. Now for keeping us up half the night worrying about customs you owe us pics when that new baby arrives.
  9. You can buy a working watch with the same complete movement for not much more. Those particular movements have been circulating around for years. The original person had well over a 150 a few years ago. I bought a half a dozen of those same movements for well below that price and other than the couple I was able to find those parts in a separate random parts purchase the rest are basically paper weights.
  10. That is very surprising. QC pics should be of your watch - specifically yours. I don't buy a lot but the two I have bought recently from the larger dealers here were the same watch. In fact on one I elected to wait for a different piece rather than take what was originally offered and on both watches I got that exact watch. If you really feel you didn't then ask the dealer to explain - if they originally promised QC pics of course. You do have their original pics and you can snap a pic or two of what you got. I am a believer in full information. People should know when you have had a good experience as well as a bad one. If a dealer is legitimately ignoring his own QC system while claiming to offer it the membership should know it so they can decide whether they want to deal with them.
  11. You need to take a valium. All your efforts are for naught. Remember you are looking at the USPS site - not a customs site. USPS has no sway with customs. Oh and by the way you are being shipped illegal goods.
  12. You are hallucinating. P.9000 is a true in-house movement. Hublot is just another jury rigged 7750. And for that Biver got $168 million. You do have to admire that.
  13. Adds to the whole massive deep diver look. Also makes it easy to plug in the hex tool to free the date set button.
  14. My teenagers love "dome". But their definition of "getting dome" is a little bit different.
  15. Burnz- I love that sucker. My willpower is fading - on the rep that is.
  16. Wow, you are one of the few people who can wear that watch and not look like they strapped an alarm clock on their wrist. Wear that one well. And yes those bracelets are scratch magnets. Although I don't own a Breitling with polished bracelet at the moment I was always too cheap to buy the beautful gen bracelet so I invariably ended up swapping onto a strap. I would also say that I am a huge fan of putting Breitling on beautiful croc straps.
  17. Woof- Are you hunting Canadians this weekend? You are from Texas. I have only two with me this weekend but eagerly awaiting the results of a new build in Canada this weekend. So I am one American who is very excited about Canada day. My weekend two:
  18. I would suggest proceeding very carefully. I went down that path on a 45mm PO and you will find yourself very quickly at 50% or more of gen price without a warranty or access to AD parts for the future. You start with a crown and tube, then a crystal, then an He valve and dial and hands and
  19. Great write-up. It has been many years since I owned a tourby and the ones I owned were horrible from a service perspective - 9 months or more and mucho dinero. I might just get up the courage to buy one of these and see how they hold up. Thanks again.
  20. Awesome. Couldn't think of a better guy to pick that one up. I was sitting on the fence (or rather the pool ) and I couldn't be happier for Virgil. Wear that one well.
  21. Does the 300 pre-date the 300t? Is one rarer than the other?
