  1. That is what I was told from someone who got one. If I were you I would start begging TX. With the new Hublots you never know.
  2. So the question is who is going to start trolling prisonchicks.com. I know one of you guys is gearing up for the conjugal visit.
  3. I would send it back. Someone did have a fix but it looked like it reduced the functionality. You don't want to live in fear every time you have to change the date.
  4. Brilliantly executed and very funny. I think I would have tried to stay away from providing a starring role to the guy who wiped out family members of board members but still a genius script.
  5. Can't wait to see the real life pics of this watch. I have never understood why the tendency is to have crystals flush with a bezel irrespective of the gen. That wouldn't stop me from buying it. I know someone will put together a run of better quality crystals if the rep is popular. Just have to add that and (it sounds like a relume) to the cost of the rep.
  6. Great stuff. Now there is no excuse not to be able to set up for good shots. The question is whether I have the courage to go to Home Depot.
  7. You always come upon very cool stuff. I must admit I am trying to imagine that Beastmaster on a smaller wrist.
  8. Is the crystal that far off? From that picture the crystal looks taller and appears to have the bevel which makes the crystal stand out both above and away from the case.
  9. I am not an expert but it looks great to me. The case is stunning. I can't tell from the pics but broken pearl on older Rolexes is pretty typical for a one owner watch or at least one with no case refinishing. If I was going to comment on anything it is how pristine the tritium is on the dial. I think it is a gorgeous example in any case.
  10. Sul- Can you explain it to us? I have been on the fence on this one so I want to know what is going to need to be done. Also if it is a real fix there is no reason why we shouldn't tell the dealer's about it since they talk to the factories and maybe they can make the change on future runs.
  11. Welcome to the forum. My first advice - your brother can wait. It is time for you to get a new watch and I suspect there are plenty of folks ready and willing to help. Seriously, to the extent you have been interested in the current high fashion watches there are some really great reps.
  12. Exactly, tritium is a gas and the bonding agent (phospor) is the key. Panerai's bonding agent is far inferior - or at least it seems to last half as long.
  13. Can't tell what you did as I am not familiar with the pusher and the socket. Were the male and female ends already threaded or it was just contact based and you threaded it? In any case if it is a real fix I am excited as I had avoided buying this one over concern on the defect. Otherwise I love the watch.
  14. Actually, at this point there is nothing to negotiate. The seller has agreed to a full refund including shipping (unheard of) provided the goods are sent back and the buyer is still not cooperating. The Geeks thread was closed when it was acknowledged that all that could be done by the dealer at this point had been done. All dealers and members should be informed how the the buyer has acted. I suspect it will be a long time before the buyer is buying (or selling)anything from dealer or member. Ken has moved on with a new paypal account. Not the first time. And certainly not the last. Goes with the dealer territory.
  15. I can tell you anecdotally that I have a '66 sub and it still glows. It may not glow like new but there is still glow in the dial and hands.
  16. Yeah, the CP just wears very differently from the other AP's. I converted my V2 into a franken but I am even considering getting a V3. Dave- You should go for it. I got Ubi on board.
  17. Would you expect any less for the brand that spawned the invention of the rep.
  18. Really not much to say other than ridiculous. Whether it is real or not - for that price I can probably buy one of Newman's race cars. Who needs a watch.
  19. Actually I was curious and asked him. The finish is a little different and the bevel is as well. At some level the overall finish may be a function of the level of oxidation on the original piece of ti. As for the bevel it may well have to do with the tolerances on the factory milling machines. In any case they are both gorgeous watches and the CP is probably my favorite rep this year. I have a v2 and even the finish on that one is fantastic.
  20. Knowing Ubi, neither is going anywhere ever. It is interesting to see the differences. Those are clearly both V3's but the case lug bevel and finish is slightly different.
  21. There is a fine line on tightening those screws. If you tighten too much it tends to "suck down" the screws below the top bezel on the older Offshores. If you don't tighten enough there is probably a water resistance issue. My watchsmith told me on that my Chronopassion it actually had thin gaskets below the top bezel screws. I assume that is one of the reasons why the screws tend to sit a little better on the Chronopassion even when the case back is tightened down a lot. I can't speak for the diver but I really think this watch given the relationship between the top and bottom screws is one which should be pressure tested before taking swimming. But that is my 2 cents.
  22. I don't own the diver rep but you might want to undo the caseback and make sure the gasket is seated correctly.
