A Solution to the Sunken DW of the Asian 7750
Francisco replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
As I wrote in the tuto, I used Hypo Cement for glueing the top DW + ring to the bottom DW, i. e., a "soft" glue. In addition, following picture shows that I employed only 4 small drops of glue: On the other hand, I employed many drops of expoxy, a "hard" glue to fasten the ring to the top DW. Therefore, the mod (top DW + ring) can be easily removed. Francisco -
A Solution to the Sunken DW of the Asian 7750

I have one Panerai that I would like to mod. But as you know, only good results can be achieved with a Lello DW, not with a black ETA 7750 DW. In a couple of days I will begin to research how to offer the mod. Francisco -

A Solution to the Sunken DW of the Asian 7750
Francisco replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
I tried several weeks before glass gaskets. You can find the correct diamaters (out, in). However the height is too large and it is extremenly difficult (if possible) to reduce the height without deforming the gasket. A deformed gasket will stop the DW... Francisco. -
A Solution to the Sunken DW of the Asian 7750
Francisco replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
Sorry people. I do not why this weekeng I had strong problems to connect to RWI from my house. Outside diameter 24.5 or 24.6 mm. Inside diameter: the wall of the ring is about 0.35 mm. Widht (height). You can choose several options, taking into account that the total height of ring + DW is 0.8 mm or better less than 0.8 mm. Minimum height for the ring is about 0.45 mm. Francisco -

At the moment I need to rest. Last days I have been working hard on this mod. I do not know if i can offer this mod. If so, I needed to think of making the parts faster. Francisco -
Some gen watches employ an ETA 7753 movement. This movement is quite similar to ETA 7750, but the minute counter is at 3 position, whilst 7750 has the minute counter at 12. As there is no rep of the 7753 movement, reps factories use a modification of the Asian 7750. This mod moves the minutes from 12 to 3. However, this mod produces a sunken Date Wheel (DW). Therefore, it is very easy to detect that the watch is a rep. The objective of this tuto is to solve the problem of the sunken DW of modified Asian 7750, to move the minutes from 12 to 3, simulating a 7753. First of all, let us check the final result, to clarify the objective. Before the tuto: After: Let us find out why the DW is sunken and how we can solve it. Next picture shows better the sunken DW problem: After removing the dial, the modification is visible. With 3 gears is possible to move the minutes from 12 to 3. However, the DW is below these gears, and that is the origin of the problem we want to solve. The solution consists of placing another DW on the top of the gears, just at the same level as the DW is in the 7753, very close to the dial. However, next picture shows the problem

Question for Ziggy: Reversing wheel click glue
Francisco replied to pierre22's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
You can do it manually...but you need to be very good, cheking the movement of the balance wheel... On the other hand, a movement with large beat error will not start running unless you shake it.... Francisco -

So, what do you think the relume on this will cost?
Francisco replied to fotoman's topic in General Discussion
I have that watch. I relumed myself the 112. But this one has a decent lume... I am not going to relume it.... -
Oris Carlos Coste is really a beautiful watch. However, the rep has a problem. Many times the crown cannot be threaded after few months of use. This tuto shows how to change the tube that is damaged for a better one, more resistant. BTW, it is also possible to change the crown by a gen Oris one. I have made about ten changes of tubes, and only twice the crown had to be changed. Cousinsuk.com reference for the tube is TUBEK, and costs 2.95 pounds, plus taxes and shipping. First step is to remove the case back. Remember to remove the rotor before you take out the movement from the case. Red arrow shows the button to be pushed to remove the stem. Stem removed. Now it is time to check with the new tube that the thread of the crown is in good condition. In this example, the thread is perfect. Sometimes, if the owner abused trying to thread the crown, the crown thread may be damaged. The gen Oris crown is alse available from Cousuins. Next red arrow shows the retaining ring that has to be removed to take the movement out the case. BTW, no screws to fasten the ring! Ring removed. The movement is out. To remove the tube is recommended using a special tool designed for this task. In this case I used a tube press. Some specific pliers are also available. There are several available bits with the press

considering an attempt to modify the 7753 version of a7750
Francisco replied to knmwt15000's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Yes, the solution seems easy. A friend of mine, about two months ago, gave to me the idea, quite similar to yours. I am working on that just now. However, you need to modify some things. If you do not have a watchmaker lathe it is a very time consuming and difficult task. Tolerances are very tight. I will post the results soon. Francisco. -
Probably this is related to a thread a read in a non-rep forum...saying that this movement reduces the speed when the second hand is going up (watch hold vertical) and runs faster when the hand goings down... In the thread there was a solution about reducing pressure somewhere...I could not understand then the solution.... Francisco.
