  1. Hi: I just wanted to show you my last work. A couple of APs that have been relumed and the reliability of the movements have been improved as shown in this tuto: Regards, Francisco
  2. gen mesh is a beauty. congratulations. However, the AR treatment on gen is extremely good, and reflections are not visible. Bezel has AR on gen as well. So reflections on rep are a flaw. regards, Francisco
  3. New APs are coming with this jewelled central gear. it is not new, at least not so new. But again, I am a quite boring, I know, but the main problem with APs IS NOT FRICTION, is a wrong assembly. More info here: regards, Francisco
  4. the machining consists of making a circular gap in the rotor, then the bolt can rotate a bit under the bearing. This is difficult to explain. You can have a look to this tuto where it is shown how a tool is employed to rotate the bolt under the bearing:
  5. I have modded dozens of HBB.... regards, Francisco
  6. yes, I am machining now the rotor, as the gen. However, glued bolts are very difficult to spot.... only rep geeks can identify them, if they are trained... regards, Francisco
  7. Thanks a lot for sharing. what about AR? gen has double AR. this rep seems to have only single AR regards, Francisco
  8. oh!, I am wrong..I thought you were talking the chrono UPO.
  9. i think you can find eta 7750 stems (fully compatible) in ebay. If not, cousins' reference: VAL7750401T9 regards, Francisco
  10. I think there was a tuto similar to this is a forum
  11. just a note to confirm that the same procedure can be applied to the chrono UPO, the new rep with modified movement to have subdials in correct position. I have just repaired one of these reps. regards, Francisco
  12. remove stem from crown (unscrew it). probably you have to put the crowm-stem in boiling water to facilitate this task. cut it a bit. check if the new length is OK. put a small drop of loctite in the stem and screw it again in the crown
  13. Well, I would like people to find their own conclusions. For that reason, all the info why APs are failing is shown in this tuto: swapping to an ETA will not solve assembling problems. adding a jewel to the plate is an improvement, better than polishing, of course. However, following video shows that jerking movement is produced in the first gear couple. This video was taken with all the rest the gears removed: However, after the modification, and without jewel, the movement is very smooth: after modification: regards, Francisco
  14. well, if he has the tools, the skill and my tuto: I have done this to about a dozen of APs...some of them were dead. And all of them are working now. Regards, Francisco
  15. if you read my tuto you will discover that friction is not stopping your watch... it is an assembling problem. Friction could only causes problems at a very long period. regards, Francisco
  16. swapping the movement will not solve the tube issues....
  17. just using good pliers. do not worry about the thread. regards, Francisco
  18. I bought the gen tube and crown a lot of time ago. I am not going to use it... i am planning to sell is soon. So PM is you are interested....
  19. Yes, i saw a gen with misaligned bezel as well. I said to the dealer that the watch was defective and she agreed. She said that I was very talented to detect that
  20. The IWC Regulateur is an unique watch, with elegant design, as the rest of Portuguese family. A review of the modified 6497 movement in the rep is shown here: Although the modification is not perfect, is going to me a much more reliable movement is comparison with other movements (Daytona, Portuguese seconds @6). The problem of this rep is the back. Follows a picture of the back of the gen: Here the back of the rep: The number of flaws is uncountable. In addition, no engraved text, stickers are employed. Even there is a spelling mistake (FSAT instead of FAST). Therefore, one member asked me to study the possibility of combining two movements. The new movement (on the right) is much closer to the gen. But it has not the modification that moves the hour hand from the centre to 12 position. That new movement is not perfect. It is a pity
