A Review of the Movement of IWC Regulateur Reps
Francisco replied to Francisco's topic in Francisco's Reviews And Tutorials
Andy, I enjoyed a lot reading your modification. Guys, I am not saying that the movement is not very unreliable, what I am saying is that I think it will not last years.... sure. And, of course, it could have be done much better. But this is not the case of Daytonas and Postuguese. The running seconds in these model are the problem. Here, is only hour... very less problematic. The watch is cheap....front is almost perfect...back is crap... you choose... Regards, Francisco -
The IWC Regulateur is a watch of the Portuguese family, with a very classic aesthetic. Here a picture of the family: There is a black model as well: In this post we review the modification made on the Asian 6497 movement to be a regulateur, and it is shown how to get a model that has not been replicated yet. This is the model that has not been replicated yet: It is the platinum model, that it is terribly expensive (the gen). The idea is to obtain that model, using these two reps: Installing the silver hands of the black model on the white model a platinum rep will be ready. The process is very simple, but offers us the chance of reviewing the modification on the movement. Hands are removed: The dial is removed and it is possible to see the three outputs of the movement, which is covered by a plate. The oiler is pointing out the hour output. If the plate is removed: The removed plate has a gear in his down face, gear A, which takes the output form the minutes and forwards the movement to gear B, hour output, as red arrows show. The gears A and B have no jewels and it is rotating over the plate

In the 7750 movement (Asian or ETA) the date cannot ne changed around midnight. If you try it (it is not possible) you can damage the movement. This tuto shows easily how this happens. Next video has comments to explain the problem of changing the date at midnight. As the video shows: 1.- First, the date is changed using the crown. The

Oscillator in the movement freezes at certain angles
Francisco replied to watchas1's topic in General Discussion
FxrAndy is showing s possible cause. Try the following: remove the balance assembly. Use the air pump to clean the bottom jewel and, carefully blow the balance. Installs again the balance. Some time works... -
one possible reason is wear in the winding pinion. More info here: Regards, Francisco

Modding the blue hand of PAM 253 Flyback Regatta

The rep of PAM 253 Flyback Regatta has a problem in the centre chrono seconds hand. The blue colour is quite off; it is very dark in comparison with gen colour. Some pictures: REP: GEN To be honest, to achieve a given blue tone is very difficult and, normally, reps with some parts in blue have this problem. However, in this case, the difference is not acceptable. The owner of this Regatta sent me a picture of the gen to help me in the modding procedure. First step was to check if I could do the job. I discovered mixing airbrush colours on a plastic that I could find the correct blue. So, the movement is removed from the case: Hand is removed: When painting, the lume of the hand will be painted too. Therefore, it is better to remove the lume, and after painting, reluming the hand. The hand is ready for being painted: Painted hand: The result seems quite good: Now, time for reluming: Final result: Regards, Francisco.

I met him about one year ago, in Bangkok. We were talking for one hour in my hotel...it was nice to know him. I agree that money was/is not his first interest. He described himself as a "collector". BTW, he was wearing a Breitling ETA 7750. I miss him in the forums. Regards, Francisco

to freeze central second you have to disassemble the movement...so it is not going to be easy. I think it is an easier approach to freeze the running seconds in the 7750 movement. Regards, Francisco
