  1. Nice project! Got a couple of pocket watches collecting dust, hmm....

    Got wood?

TJ, the printable decals that you (Slartibartfast) used on the Tudor dial exist in a clear variant... Then you can print whatever you want and apply on the "wood".
  3. Avitt, which colour is the dial? Needs to be in the calculation for the end result IMO. If you look at the Monaco you posted, that's basicly how it will end up if you leave the insert uncoated, with SS highlights instead of gold. Quite nice actually! But depends on the dial...
  4. Nice work! This watch gets more and more tempting...
  5. Andy, I can fix it tonight when I'm on the right computer, if that's fast enough (and if no one else has responded/already taken care of it). Cheers, Mac
  6. I'm with jdkno, you definatly want to have a webbing strap, per stated reasons. Also ALL watches with a look similar to the B&R isn't a very good idea, you'll break the crystal in about 2 sec, VERY thin, no protruding bezel to protect it and totally flat (curved objects are always stronger). G-shocks sure are ugly, but life is beautiful so why waste your own for vanity? If you go with anything else, do tune it down, like a Seiko 007 with DLC on a velcro or something. BTW, the Luminox isn't very good, unprotected crystal as per a B&R.
  7. Still no workie... Do I need to relaunch the browser or something?
  8. Is it just me or doesn't the forum search engine work?! I try searching with known things but it doesn't find it...
  9. I've seen it in the flesh, it's indeed a mean looking machine. A b1tch to keep spotless though, the semigloss clearcoat is really difficult to get an even finish on after washing/polishing. Not that it matters to the ones that can afford it, they probably can have it repainted every time it's dirty without thinking about the cost!
  10. I make things go faster than the rest... Been working with racecars for 20 years now.
  11. End of a hot day by the pool, downing GT's...
  12. Nope, don't go near your local guy. First of all, it's a fake, with all it's risks... secondly, servicing the asian copy of the Valjoux 7750 is a major b-tch, so you really need someone who has done it before and is experienced with that specific model. Basicly you have only 2 options, The Zigmeister in Canada or the german guy (try searching "watchmaker in gemany", if the tip from The Zigmeister yielded nothing.), end of story... If you want lume, then it's even easier, only ZM does both. However, the lume on gen Tags suck, so it isn't really that necessary, only if you're a lume freak (easy to become, once you have seen the meisters work... ) it would be a worthwhile upgrade. As to which dealer, buy with confidence from PT here on the forum (Precious Time), he's based in the UK and a outstanding guy and dealer. Finally, don't worry about being parted from your new watch, that's a simple problem to solve, just buy some more! It's addicting...
  13. Nope, no split stem on this one. You remove the screw on the back (that say's "do not remove") and push on the button under it to remove the stem.
  14. Some Panerai's come to mind, 217 and 219 for example, search for "destro" in the Panerai section of the forum and you'll see some. Also Oris makes lefties, PT has some in his sales section, I think it is the Carlos Costas and some F1 variants that are lefties.
  15. Hehe, I thought to myself when reading the "recipy", 'WTF, is he using SILVER as a blasting media?!?!?!'. Obviously not... Nice project!
  16. The logo on the replicas is laseretched, that's why the logo looks so "bleak", looks way better in real life though. But for sure, if you're a WIS then it's obvious that it should have been a black inked logo there, but he'll bust you on the incorrect hand stack first... It's not really a glareing fault, IMHO. Why they can't do it correctly? Your guess is as good as mine... PS. It has been covered before, but I don't have the links, sorry.
  17. I must say that the time and effort you put into these how-to's is amazing, Francisco! Thanks for all your efforts mate!
  18. Nah, one of my mechanics is from around there, always rave about the hillclimb, so he took me up when I passed through last fall. That was one amazing road! If you see a little yellow Lotus screaming up the hill, that'll be him!
  19. Chefcook, is it Schauinsland?! Gr8 road stretch! Cheers, Mac
  20. Gr8! This one I've been looking forward to very much! Can't wait...
