torresp Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 I originally started with a DW case that wouldn't fit the movement (kind of a status quo issue with that case). I was going to press on with having the DW shell modified by jmb to fit the V72, but decided to opt for the Phong case instead (with some friendly persuasion from Mr. Torres). You did it right mate and nothing can beat those old-schools daytonas... Mine says hello
omgiv Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 That is a beautiful watch Ubi!!!!! Nothing else I can say....
gplracer Posted July 29, 2010 Report Posted July 29, 2010 Outstanding! I love my 7750 version but I would love to have a v72 version one day. With the way prices are going up I might sell my 7734 movement and look for a v72.
By-Tor Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Crazy. Your projects are amazing. I thought that gen vintage Daytona dials were pretty much impossible to source. Apparently not. Congrats!
P4GTR Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Yah, the dial source remains a mystery for now, eh? I really don't know what to say about the watch, being that it's pretty obvious how incredible it is. I can't believe how nonchalant you can be about your pieces. You're too cool for school Ubi.
wiesn089 Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 The pics are great! The watches are simply amazing!
Guest Sql_pl Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 Nice! Now you have a more difficult task... Try to make a franken-116520 to go with these 2 beauties and you are all set!
Member X Posted July 30, 2010 Report Posted July 30, 2010 I would actually hate you if you weren't such a nice bloke... lol
Dizzy Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 Awesome awesome!!! Nice that you can slap together an almost gen daytona so fast!! Im jelous dizz
ubiquitous Posted July 31, 2010 Author Report Posted July 31, 2010 So, can anyone (aside from chieftang) figure out the significance of the custom serial I had engraved?
valerian Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 That is so beautiful! Congrats, Ubi! I'd love a Daytona but I'm definitely no modding artist and the OBO models are all so flawed. Val.
rolexmaniac88 Posted August 1, 2010 Report Posted August 1, 2010 So, can anyone (aside from chieftang) figure out the significance of the custom serial I had engraved? I'd say birth dates for kids and wife, similar to the engraving you got for your 5514! Gotta check though! Hold on
gplracer Posted August 2, 2010 Report Posted August 2, 2010 Cool idea! It is your birthday as confirmed on you info page
