azgjav Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 just want to share some photos of 2 frankens and a gen transitional speedmaster from 1969. frankens were made using genuine tissot movements that are the same as the omega 873. case, dial and hands are genuine NOS parts. ~enjoy.
ogladio Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Wow, those just look amazing!! Especially like the first one. Think you just bit me with an Omega bug mate
redwatch Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Stunning!!!!! what else did you use for the build? Rep cases?
Tom Hawkes Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Maybe read the first three sentences again mate..
Guest zeleni kukuruz Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 This is the onely omega i would buy of i hade the money!!! Your did a very good job puting them toghter and they look realy realy sharp! Congrates mate you should be very proud to have them i know i would! Realy realy nice!
cougar1 Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Amazing stuff, the all look spectacular and I've seen both the transitional and the panda before, the panda is beautiful, but the silver dial is really something else, looks stunning, never laid eyes on one until now. Can't believe those silver dials are available on Ofrei. Great work azjgav!
dbutlerman Posted April 8, 2012 Report Posted April 8, 2012 Beautiful! Where'd you source the cases, Otto Frei, Cousins, WatchCo...somewhere else?
azgjav Posted April 9, 2012 Author Report Posted April 9, 2012 cheers! they cost a fair bit to build but i had more pleasure putting them together than buying one from omega. the silver dialed speedmaster was made using nos case and dial from watchco. the panda used a nos but used case i bought from thebay, dial was from a member here in the rep community. can't remember the actual model of the tissot but i think it's prs512 or something. bought them at about 300. the silver speedie cost about 1300, the panda was less than 1k. i think. 2
cougar1 Posted April 9, 2012 Report Posted April 9, 2012 Really interested in doing one of these sometime, parts permitting! The prices are excellent for the result achieved. Great work! Was it the Tissot Seastar T12 Chrono you used for the cal.873? PM me if you have a good source? Cheers!
dbutlerman Posted April 12, 2012 Report Posted April 12, 2012 It looks like a Tissot with Lemania 1281 would work. According to what I found, the 1281is the missing link in the evolution between the Omega 321 and 1861... Not positive on this, but that's what I can figure...
Mr. Moon Posted April 17, 2012 Report Posted April 17, 2012 All three are absolutely stunning. Nicely done!
Poisoncigar Posted April 18, 2012 Report Posted April 18, 2012 I have a gen dial and hands now to source the rest. LOL Beautiful work BTW.I imagine getting the right case is key to the dial fitting. Then the movement.
klocklind1 Posted April 19, 2012 Report Posted April 19, 2012 That silver dial is so nice I have that dial nos that I bought 10 years ago and still have not mounted in a case You could only find that dial on a limited 500 pcs. in white gold and that dial looks stunning The speedmaster is a classic
StormTooper4 Posted April 20, 2012 Report Posted April 20, 2012 That all Silver dial is a very smooth looking piece
azgjav Posted April 21, 2012 Author Report Posted April 21, 2012 sorry for the late reply, have been tied down w work. can't really remember the cal # of the tissot movement but it looks exactly the same as the omega 871/873. tissot used 2 other movements as well, one is the 1281 and the other is the same movement as the omega 321. any case which fits the 321/871/873 movement will accept the tissot movement. i actually prefer the panda over the silver dial, funny enough.
cougar1 Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 The panda is cool aswell thanks for the info on the movments, now the main trouble will be finding a case for a good price and in good shape!
spooky driver Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 yeah i like the panda myself.....stunning
cougar1 Posted April 24, 2012 Report Posted April 24, 2012 Watchco has put a ton of cases up for auction on the bay .....and the prices of those tissot chronos have gone up
