robertk Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 I just thought, how bazaar. Looking at reps from 40,000 ft somewhere over the atlantic (heading for Sofia). They now have free internet on Lufthansa's 747's. I just can't get away from this forum. still Hooked from 40,000ft! now let me see...which watch did I want to order???
rocket754 Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 wow you have now joined the 8 mile RWG club
cornerstone Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 If I get up on my chair I can read the forum from two feet higher than normal. It's not dramatically different from up here, I have to say.
fotoman Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 great, now there isn't even the excuse - i sorry didn't get your message till now- i was on a plane
robertk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 There is no escaping any more. See you soon.
cornerstone Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 What are the meal options today? Normally I pick one and they run out....
KB Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Just don't pick the fish, I never eat fish when I'm flying.........an influence I picked up from Flying High Ken

Wow, now I want to fly Lufthansa just so I can browse RWG while I fly!!! So the question is, where can I go on Lufthansa?!?! If I get up on my chair I can read the forum from two feet higher than normal. It's not dramatically different from up here, I have to say. LOL
lionsandtigers Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 are you in first class or business class? i just flew home from germany on Lufthansa, and i didnt even have a tv let alone the internet!!!! cute flight attendants though
Willith Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 This has to be some kind of record, can anyone beat the 40K thing? Where's Jetmid when you need him, he had to have the internet on his private jet and it probably skipped across the atmosphere at mach 7 and had a T1 connection or maybe a direct satellite link with NASA or something.
fitmic Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Is that Boeing close to the gen? I once flew the German fighter plane Fokker which was pretty damn perfect, besides the misspelled [censored]er on the panel.
onezero Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 are you in first class or business class? i just flew home from germany on Lufthansa, and i didnt even have a tv let alone the internet!!!! cute flight attendants though Yeah last time I was on a Lufthansa 747 there were crap old TV's on the roof spaced along the middle and the thing shook and rattled like nothing had been tightened since it was made in the 70s! Plus the food left a lot to be desired. Singapore Airlines and Emirates are my fav.
chubbchubb Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 I had free internet on Lufthansa Economy flying from EU to LAX two weeks ago and then back last week. The only problem in Economy is lack of space to put your laptop in front of you...unless you have a micromachine. To me food sucks on all airlines...if you can't afford first class. It allways reminds me of field meals we had in the army...
jonthebhoy Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 I was logged into RWG one night with no shoes on......just socks! JTB
robertk Posted November 14, 2006 Author Report Posted November 14, 2006 I'm back down to earth in Sofia. I was business class so had plenty of room. What was interesting was that the wireless on the 747 seemed faster than most?? BTW, Lufthansa 747 business class is the best of the European airlines in my view. I will use it whenever I can now. It's gonna be a new age.......as someone said, there is no getting away now.

Yeah, they even have cell towers on cruise ships now - its still crazy expensive - but good for emergencies I still have - Oh, i was in the basement in a meeting, just got signal back now.
baltic Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Good thing it wasn't Bluetooth... "You have found Lufthansa Boeing 747. Would you like to connect?" LOL 'Delete navigation files Y/N...'
baltic Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 "Update comms software with Spongebob Squarepants theme song? (Y/N)" Genuinely LoL at that 'Pair with: GrimReaper RIP Y/N? St Peter Y/N? Yoda Y/N?'
omni Posted November 14, 2006 Report Posted November 14, 2006 Thanks for the great insight Robert, I'll look into business class Luftansa next time to EU. Have a good trip, did you bring your Viagra Blue IWC? I'm always flying at thousands of feet too when I log into the rep. forums, but its usually from the results of a bottle.

Enjoying on my wrist as we type. Take it easy on the bottle. I prefer a joint. that way I don't tend to lose consciousness..........just a little reality.
