rogerthat
This thread has taken forever to put together, so I hope it can help the community. Hoping some will now see the PAM390 as more verstile, others will see how a strap change can totally change the look of a watch. Please post your favorite strap pic for this watch out of the 19 pictured if you liked this thread. Or if you like more than one, list a few please. Hate them all or a handful, go ahead and share, I would be offended. I tried to take similar pictures, backgrounds, effects, etc... so the straps could be judged equally vs. picking different backgrounds or shots for each strap. Also tried to point out visually some unique characteristics of some of the straps and buckles I selected for this pictoral. Many photos, as I included a few per strap until I got lazy at the end. Here is my top 18 for this watch, really not in any particular order. No black straps pictured, when I want to wear a black strap or bracelet, I wear a different brand. I prefer all of my Pams with a shade of brown strap. As I get more straps in, I may update this thread. #1: OEM Asso New (brand new, one of the lighter OEM shadings I have seen) #2 OEM Asso Used (aged like a fine fine, one of the darker OEM shadings I have seen) #3 Kevin Ammo (this guy invented the Ammo strap) with Piotr Coin Buckle check out the detail on the buckle: #4 ABP Paris Special Tanning Croc this one fits like a glove, so much so I added a wrist shot, the only one in this thread: #5 Simona Musuem Exhibit Tobacco this one really changes in the light from dark brown to eggplant ; I think a great match for the tobacco dial #6 OEM Black JV (very rare) this strap is called Black, but it actually Grey in color #7 Greg Stevens Crazy Horse #1 (unfortunately no longer available, last made in 2007) Have purchased the #2 and #3 and they really don't compare to the original unfortunately So you may have noticed the cool buckle on this one, it is a Ray lum steel buckle, why Lum steel well... #8 Landa Raw Denim really cool suede texture on the tip and keeper: Speaking of Suede: #9 Rwolf Suede Strap (can't recall the maker, it is an Italian strap maker that Rwolf is friend's with, so I will call it RWolf) It is all suede this one has a cool Simona Brown PVD buckle: #10 Simona Xmas Divers really love the charcoal edges on this one #11 Simona Small Scale Croc #12 Simona Vintage Green #13 Simona Allegrini Divers Mark II #14 Simona Musuem Exhibit Tobacco - with custom ecru stitch sorry only 1 pic of this one and it doesn't match the others (I sold this one cause I kept the other Tobacco Musuem Strap further up the list) #15 Simona Michaelangelo Another really cool Piotr coin buckle on this one. #16 Bronzy Blonde Strap #17 Cobra unknown maker, this is a genuine cobra and a a nice strap, not my style though so it only gets 1 pic #18 Rios Vintage Handmadge

Nooringoox
I agree with you, PAM390 is a very versatile watch. The best of yours is #3. I tried many straps, most looked good but for me the winner is Peter Gunnys Black Oil:
ogladio
Great thread! Need to go with Simona Xmas - oem ass on second place.

Archetypal
Great variety, shows the 390's versatility credentials very well. I could nearly smell the leather scrolling down the post! Nice work.

Mapman57
Impeccable taste in straps - and you did sneak a 'black' one in! 5 gets my vote
markiemark
Imo, any strap looks good on a Panerai. Its just a watch that can take it all. If you cut out a piece of cartboard and you tape it on, it still looks amazing! You got yourself a very nice strap collection! My favorite on this list is #15. It is similar to my Ted Su French Ammo. Thanks for the post!
Kl2onik
Personally I have never been a fan of brown but thats just me. I dont wear anything brown as far as clothes go and it just does not work. I have attempted to locate your #5 simona museum strap unfortunately with no success. Guess I'll keep looking. Since you seem to love your straps I was wondering if you have come across the KAKTUS straps. I have heard good things and would love some input from some other members. cougar1
Beautiful straps Roger, 1, 2, 5 and 6 are my favourites, fantastic collection. Edited December 2, 2012 by cougar1
Canpanerai
Fantastic post, and illustration of the versatility of a good PAM. Quite the investment too, couldn't help think that your collection set you back enough for a gen 350 with at least one OEM strap.
ISM
Nice photo collection! Tan croc, Simona Allegrini and the GS Crazy horse are my faves. The busier the strap, the more it detracts from that fabulous 390 head (IMHO). Wear them all with great pride, mate - thats quite a versatile set of options you have there. Ronin
WoW! Great photos and straps. They all look great- except I am personally not a fan of the "Exotics" (Cobra, etc..)
jtiis
Wow, how did I miss this? for the past few days I've been looking endlessly for the "right" strap for a 111N on it's way! I went with this: http://www.heroic18.com/product-detail.php?id=369&category_id=6&sub_cate_id=79 Will post pics when she arrives. Thanks for the post... very informative... as a word is worth ... 1/1000th of a picture!
atomic_doug
Beautiful pictures. Well done. For me, the OEM Asso is the nicest. When I got my first gen PAM, I went strap crazy for a while, then eventually realized that after all the swapping, shuffling, and gouging up the lugs, the only straps I ever wore were the OEM rubber strap and the first plain old brown Micah strap I bought. So I sold off my strap collection and the only thing that noticed was my bank account, certainly not my wrist. The Micah strap eventually wore out, I replaced it with an Asso, and now that's the only strap I use along with the rubber. The strap-thing is a neat part of PAM collecting,
BlackFlash
Great pics! It certainly makes me think that going with a link strap isn't the only classy way to go. I would say though, a few black straps in there would make it easier for me to change my mind. Thanks for the pics!
chango
No. 5 Thanks for this thread. My next PAM will be a 390.
