ubiquitous Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 I'm updating with images of this watch revised, as it has been rebuilt with a new movement and dial. Unfortunately, I didn't take many pictures of the progression on this one like I usually do (as I was preoccupied with just getting it all together), so all you guys get is 4 images Maybe the next time I do a tear down, I'll take the time to capture this one properly in various stages of undress... 3
panerai153 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Man those are wonderful watches. These are the kind you keep to hand down to your sons and grandsons. Where in the world are you finding that mother lode of PP parts, dials and movements?
asciwhite Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Extremely tasy!!!!!!!!!!!!! PP is the supreme authority in watches!
dluddy Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Wow Ubi. You're finding some tasty parts Love that one
Watchmeister Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Ubi- The latest is unbelievable. Enjoy that one.
freddy333 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Outstanding, Ubi. The cases all look the same. Would you care to disclose their source?
Tonyyammine Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Great job. i enjoy watching you build these nice projects.
Archetypal Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Amazing hunter gathering and un covering such special and well cared for components. A master at work. Thanks so much for sharing these images. Inspired.
ghost Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 +1 what freddy said! Holy crap these are fantastic
Migge Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Awesome build, R! I always enjoy reading theese posts. Thanks.
ubiquitous Posted March 6, 2013 Author Report Posted March 6, 2013 Thank you one and all for the kind comments. These are always fun to put togther; they represent a different kind of challenge due to the nature of the parts. Not always easy sourcing some of these bits! But when they do come together, it's always quite a lot of fun. Currently, I'm trying to figure out what color/tone strap to pair with this one. I have a gen gloss black gator that's been loafing about the work bench... But I'm just not feeling it. I've had gloss straps before and I think they just don't mesh well with my personal taste as a whole. Think I'm more of a matte finish strap kind of guy. Maybe matte black?
cc33 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Very very nice! I personally think that you should put that beauty on a matt or semi matt brown strap. The gold in the dial will look great against a brown strap imo.
ubiquitous Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 3 decades of vintage PP. From L to R: 1940's, 1950's and 1960's: One more...
cc33 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 That old chrono looks terrible, I think you should get rid of it seriously though, I'm speechless, it's amazing to see them all together!
lhooq Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Spectacular, R. You keep finding new ways of raising the bar!
flex Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Ubi has surely raised the bar again. what a collection there. just beatiful
