This is how we drill Lug Holes In Sheffield

Recommended Posts

Just picked up my 16014 case from one of the many small precision engineering workshops we still have operating here in Sheffield, lug holes drilled for Gen spec spring pins. Amazing to see what these guys can still produce, from one off's to full production runs. Its got me thinking...... :g:

Looks like the right type of drill, but why are you drilling lug holes in a 16014 case (which should already have lug holes)? &, by the way, the Datejust does not use the same 2mm dia springbars that are used in sports models like the Sub/SD.

Hi Fred,

It's going to be living its life as a 1016 in the not so distant future ;) Once Justin's Bezel arrives we have lift off

This explains all the holes in my '63 Land Rover. :g:

That makes all the difference. I must have missed that detail.

Good luck with the rest of the project.

How you doing Pete? Anything interesting on the build front?

All good my friend. Datewheels  only thing on the agenda for now but when they finished will open a few doors for some vintage builds ..

And here you have the final result :tu:

I'm glad this thread was resurrected, as I missed it in July.  It's amazing how close those holes are to the lug edges, without touching them.  Precision!
