ldegeneve Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 I'm talking vintage see them through the lughole type, 20mmx2mm for vintage models. Based on my experience: WSO - Rounded edges, good length, weak internal spring Clarks - Flat edges, good length, surprisingly weak spring Cousins UK - Flat edges, a tad shorter than the above, good spring Anyone else?
ww12345 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 What does the weaker internal spring do to the structural soundness of the springbar? Asking legitimately - not being sarcastic...
dbane883 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 None of the above. The StarTime ones are the best. Springs dont crumple and ends are rounded (although gen bars are actually slightly more pointy).
freddy333 Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Rolex, by far. Excellent fit/finish with sufficient spring tension to keep the pins extended into the lugs, which has been a problem with all aftermarket 'bars in my experience (including all mentioned above).
Nanuq Posted September 30, 2014 Report Posted September 30, 2014 Funny thing, when the springbar components are a good tight fit, they are less usable in real life. I spent 2 weeks in the ocean with the Big Gonzo and the saltwater would evaporate leaving behind solid minerals, and I couldn't remove the springbars. I soaked them a long time in fresh water to loosen the deposits, and eventually removed them. And they were tough enough (gens) I doubt I could have brute force pulled it apart without ruining the flimsy band in the process.

Bc1221 Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 Clark ones arnt bad for the money honestly. I couldn't drill my bracelet and lug holes out big enough so I had to buy the slightly thinner ones. 20x1.78mm. Perfect fit for rep bracelets and end links
dbane883 Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 Gen on bottom, Startime on top: Gen on right, ST on left:
ldegeneve Posted October 1, 2014 Author Report Posted October 1, 2014 So how does one order from Star time? Says that they don't deal with direct sales or hobbyists... On that note, anyone got any ST bars for sale?
highoeyazmuhudee Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 Gen on bottom, Startime on top: Gen on right, ST on left: very useful macros for comparison, thanks

jmb Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 The ones from Borel are on par with the ST pieces.

This is exactly what I need for my PT 1680. My lugholes are big enough for the 2mm and they fit in my endlinks, but with the tight fit in the endlinks the pins won't line up with the holes. I need the smaller size.
ldegeneve Posted October 1, 2014 Author Report Posted October 1, 2014 http://www.countycomm.com/springbar.html These are 1.8mm
Bc1221 Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 ebay theres only one seller that sells them so it should be easy to find. theyre decent spring bars for the price.
automatico Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 I seriously doubt rolex makes their spring bars. The ST 'swiss' spring bars are basically identical to genuine. They also have 'HK' spring bars that are not identical to oem. I mark genuine sb with a Sharpy so I can tell them from ST if they are on the table together. J. Borel may use the same sb supplier as ST.
jmb Posted October 1, 2014 Report Posted October 1, 2014 J. Borel may use the same sb supplier as ST. I always thought they seemed the same...
