Hi guys thorght I would share my recent betting experience as I would like some feedback.

Placed a five fold on the football the other night which I had £6 on, I should of got £105 as a payout but when I went to collect the bet she said it wasn't a winner according to the system so she had to ring the hq up as it did win.

After waiting about 10 minutes she said to me 1420 are 50s ok. I said yes took the money and left the bookies. My question is, am i legally aloud to keep the money? She said that's what I won and handed it over so I Havnt really done anything wrong ay?

Wow good fortune! I'll say keep the money for a while, and if they do not look for you to claim it back..well... ;)

If they have made a mistake and you knew they have given you more than you should have recieved, then it's a straight up theft im afraid. Or may be classed as retaining a wrongful credit. Either way still a criminal offence in the uk.

Oh and ignorance is no defence in law.

@danza1812 , I actually went into a bookies today and explained the situation, the women working on front desk said as the bet had no returns written on it, it's up to the bookies to check the odds and once the bets paid out it's your money to do what you like with.

tough call honestly.

i hope its not like when a cashier at a grocery store gives you the wrong change and has to pay for their mistake out of their pocket.

if thats the case, i would take it back and make sure it wasnt a mistake.

at the least, dont spend it right away. hang on to it for a few weeks in case someone comes looking for it.
