JoeyB
He says just what it is. I wonder if it will pass Ebay muster if Rolex complains. If it does, 'Katy bar the door', cause all heck will break through. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Rolex-cal-1065-watch-movement-fix-GMT-Master-6542-in-Custom-made-case-/181759105796?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2a51afdb04
droptopman
Looks to be accurately described. Is that a phong case? I was just looking around again today for a white dial. I will keep my eyes on this. Sent from my droptop using telepathy ️

freddy333
is the length of the hands relative to the dial off? Hands, bracelet, xtal & dw look aftermarket.
JoeyB
The seller claims that the crystal in genuine Rolex, but would that be the 25-115, or more likely the 25-116. He also claims "the buckle/clasp are genuine Rolex". A Rolex chapter ring itself is 26mm in diameter. The genuine GMT hand is 13mm, center of mounting hole to the tip. The early minute hands were 13mm, later made to 12mm. I don't know when they were shortened. You can find many examples with the shorter 12mm hand that look original. So, the tip of the GMT hand, and the tip of the hour hand should go to the chapter ring, not past it.
imajedi
Dude!!!!!! How is anyone supposed to get a good deal on ebay when you guys but this stuff on blast. Foiled again. I'm going back to trying to take over the world. It's easier than sneaking a good deal on ebay from you lot.

dbane883
hey.. i just want that 1065 movement...
alligoat
The bracelet looks ok, but the clasp doesn't match- it's larger than the bracelet and I've never seen the numbers 62523 on a clasp. So you have a gen movement and maybe a gen crystal. It's a nice looking franken and the value is in the sum of the parts and what someone is willing to pay. Phong would sell a watch like this for $4500-5000 maybe. It will be interesting to see if this auction goes to conclusion like Joey says... JoeyB
So, how good is this franken, and what is its value? I don't think it's a good franken. The movement is worth money, and I do like that case. But the rest can be much better and more accurate. $4 to $5 thousand usd? I'd rather have a genuine 1675 - 16710 for about the same money. And being frugal (cheap!), I love my homemade replica!

The dial I think is of less importance since it is obvious that its a redial. Bezel insert doesnt seem as good as the One your selling? Bracelet probably isnt gen, the coronet is giving me bad vibes.. Is case/bezel assy phong you guys think?

He also claims "the buckle/clasp are genuine Rolex". Proper xtal for the '42 is the 115 (116 for 1675). Hard to be 100% either way about the clasp (still think it is new manufacture), but I would dispute most of his claims. I am not poo-pooing the watch - it was lovely - just citing some issues with the seller's description. And considering he has since removed the item, I think he probably agreed.
