Sub007
So finally after searching, searching and more searching I stumbled across this beauty, The Rolex Daytona 6239 (by DW) and bought it...in a heartbeat. I bought just the head as I thought the GEN rivet I will find one day for sure. But I wanted it to mount this icon on a Bulang & Sons 19/16 vintage leather strap. And I think the end result is really nice and it is also very comfortable to wear. The seller I bought it from also informed about a website detailing more about this particular build `Daytona small dial` http://www.hqmilton.com/watches/rolex_daytona_6239_black_dial_with_early_small_daytona_with_white_and_silve/I especially like the fact that it is not screaming Daytona or PN or anything like `hey look at me`...but that is what I feel is so attractive about this particular dial. The subtle `Rolex Cosmograph Daytona` just between center of the watch and the coronet. What I also like about this build is that the hand wind movement allows for a very flat build (guess as per gen looking at the dimensions). The watch has wear on it just like you would expect but not too much. And the engraving finishes it off just right. Not fully noticeable even when wearing a leather strap. So now on to the picsIt all started with the watch head ....and even without a strap it is beautifulBut I knew I had to get a nice Bulang & Sons leathers strap for this beauty... ticktickboom
Sweet piece...I just grabbed the silver dialed version from m2m....chucked a yuki bracelet on it, looking pretty sharp. I like your black dial though, very nice.

freddy333
I generally prefer bracelets to straps on a 62xx Daytona, but always love seeing them no matter what affixing device their owner chooses.
Sub007
I like the bracelets also very much, but what is holding me is adjusting a riveted bracelet...Question, what mods would you suggest? I have gen 703 crown and gen 7030 tube...would these fit ??? Plexi T-21 ???

freddy333
Impossible to say without trying them. The problem with aftermarket cases is that there is little or no quality control or consistency of parts. A gen tube or xtal may fit perfectly into 1 case, but they may not fit in the next case from the same source. Because the crown fits onto the tube (not the case), a gen crown will fit a properly installed gen tube. Most (not all) of the time, you can get a gen tube to fit into most cases. However, you may need to retap the threading since in the case depending on the type of threading used for the original (aftermarket) tube. But, again, the only way to know what gen parts will fit YOUR case is to try them on your case. There are hundreds of construction threads on RWG that you can research via the Search. I would recommend you do that. Also, check out the pinned articles in the Watchmaking forums.
alligoat
"Question, what mods would you suggest? I have gen 703 crown and gen 7030 tube...would these fit ??? Plexi T-21 ???"The 703 crown and tube is all wrong for the 6239- it should be a 600 series crown and tube. You might be able to fit a gen 24-600 crown in your existing tube, but you have to be careful removing the stem from the movement- I boogered up an a7750 in a 6238 rep doing it.Plexi T21 can be made to work, but you will have to enlarge the bezel some- DW bezels are notorious for being slightly undersized.
