High grade pink sapphire is the same no matter where it comes from.  ST has two grades of sapphire crystals...Asian 'B' quality and Swiss 'A' quality.  The Swiss crystals are every bit as good as oem.  Rolex does not make their crystals, afaik Stettler Sapphire AG still makes them.

IMO gen crystals are only worth it if:

1) the crystal is plexi (the non-OEM crystal profiles never match OEM perfectly)

2. the crystal has a LEC or AR coating

Only you can decide really. Another option would be to check out Prof's crystals but this is still an aftermarket option. Incredible black hole effect and AR.

Some gen plexi crystals are impossible to find, and I've found Clarks to be very nice replacements.

I smashed my last gen Superdome Tropic 39 and tried a few replacements... each one looked dull. A Clarks T19 floated up on the shores of Isla Nanuq and although its refraction is a little off, off-axis, its clarity and sparkle are outstanding.
