BobM Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I set my watch - whichever watch I will be wearing that day - each morning. I use a certain preferred source of time as the time to which I set my watch. I was wondering how other folks do this? ... if they set their watches each morning? If, perhaps, y'all use a better time source that do I? I use http://www.TimeAndDate.com/worldclock/personalapplet.html I have used the official U.S. time-clock @ http://www.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Central/d/-6/java But I like the presentation of the personal world clock best. Good day to all (Good Morning here) !
TeeJay Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I set my watch by a radio signal-controlled wall clock in the study.
frankt Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I use my trusty pocket watch from Korea...Oh and btw...I can also use it to talk to virtually anyone, simply by pushing some buttons on its face....And I can take pictures with it too!!...And Cingular gave it to me for free!!.... Seriously though...My cell phone is plenty accurate enough for my needs!!! ;)
mudfish Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Actually, I just checked, and my Macbook has the exact time as the the second link you posted with the official US time... I guess Apple was thinking ahead on this one...
Watchmeister Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Cable box when at home. Cell phone when on the road.
archibald Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Since I usually forgret to set my watch before I leave, I usually just ask someone on the Metro.
BobM Posted September 2, 2007 Author Report Posted September 2, 2007 Cell phone ... hmmmm?? My cell phone does not report seconds, only hour and minutes. Maybe there is a way to adjust this presentation on my cell phone to show seconds, as well. If y'all don't set TO THE SECOND then a cell phone or cable box would certainly be accurate enough. I guess, even the position of the the sun and stars might be adequate.
sss Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 All this talk of cell phones makes me think, "What is the need to wear a wrist watch today if one carries their cell phone with them everywhere they go? However, a cell phone would be uncomfortable strapped to the wrist... What size strap would be best... 36mm, 40 mm?
mkultra Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Actually, I just checked, and my Macbook has the exact time as the the second link you posted with the official US time... I guess Apple was thinking ahead on this one... I use my macbook too. Although ive found guesswork to be good lately too
jkerouac Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I recommend against scheduling appointments with me on cloudy days. Note: Where I live in the US Pacific Northwest it is cloudly a lot.
AllergyDoc Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Usually the XM radio in the car. Sometimes time.gov
FxrAndy Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Generaly i set my railmaster with GPS and then set every other watch off that, it is good for a month, i set the clock in the car from GPS and then check via that on the way to work.
Corgi Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I have an "atomic" clock that synchronizes itself with the precise time emitted by a scientific laboratory somewhere in Oregon.
Stephane Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 the site a friend of mine made for me: www.shitinerand.com @Pug: 100% made on Mac.
Victoria Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Cable box when at home. Cell phone when on the road. Good question. Similar to Kruzer00. I have a triangulation of sources when I set my Panerais (16 and counting). Computer clock synchronised with .gov source. Then I look up to the cable box to confirm, comparing it at the same time to my mobile time. As I set each watch (doesn't take but 5 minutes total for all -- I'm fast), I am looking at all three in rapid succession. Utterly doollally, obviously, but there you are. (Oh, and I wind each PAM 30 times. No more, no less)
kasigi Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 I set my watch by a radio signal-controlled wall clock in the study. This works for me. Note: The one I use is in my study, not in TeeJays!
Victoria Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Note: The one I use is in my study, not in TeeJays! Either you're a lawyer, with a precise attention to the skewing of facts, or you don't want people to think you're secretly Emily.
lanikai Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 like sssurfer... the star called the "Hokulea" the ancients used this to navagate.. or my cell phone
frankt Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 Cell phone ... hmmmm?? My cell phone does not report seconds, only hour and minutes. Maybe there is a way to adjust this presentation on my cell phone to show seconds, as well. Simply "hack" your watch with the sec hand @ 12:00, set the minute hand to the next minute, and wait for the cell phone to change minutes..then push your crown in...Sounds more complicated than it really is!!
robertk Posted September 2, 2007 Report Posted September 2, 2007 My Mac sets the standard for accurate time keeping in the Western world! It is Wednesday isn't it?
Dizzy Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 I set my watches off my Blackberry... close enough for me Lonnie
Raijor Posted September 3, 2007 Report Posted September 3, 2007 www.colemanitis.com AND http://www.timeanddate.com/worldclock/personalapplet.html A Panerai GMT clock from the net and a personal world clock from the same - Cheers
