Lollipop
And talking intellectual property infringement in a rep forum is laughable to me. Also, what about the guy at the 'P' site always selling so call NOS straps known as Dirk. Are those real Dirk's..? Elliot is not the only guy doing it. The problem for me with Elliot is that he's using Dirk's name to scam newbies and other people who thinks they're buying the real Dirk, just like that NOS guy. It's like people selling fake Viagra, fake brake pads, fake condoms, fake baby milk, even fake aircraft parts! At best you'll lose your money, worse you'll lose your life. I expect Elliot of TC to be a reputable person and by trademarking Dirk's name without permission he's saying to the world he's clearly not. Pugwash
It's like people selling fake Viagra, fake brake pads, fake condoms, fake baby milk, even fake aircraft parts! And Fake Watches? swdivad
Sounds like you know the man in person. How many sugar does he take with his coffee..? Or does he drink coffee at all..? How did he start his strap business..? Who makes his straps..? And I don't think he would like to have his name in anyway or form in assciated with our rep community here. Jumping on bandwagon is easy. No, I don't know him personally, but from the few posts and responses that I have read in the past, he (and his product) seems respected by likewise respectable people. As for jumping on the bandwagon... I'm actually jumping off... I stayed neutral and continued to purchase from E, despite the infamous letter I received from him and the negative sentiments from respected members here... After the unfortunate post by E about where to purchase a veni strap, my outlook on the man changed... But I left it there after posting my disappointment. I guess you could say this would be the final straw for me... OK, I changed my mind, and my opinion... I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, especially regarding the circumstances. There are many other strap dealers to buy from, and I have. My business will go to them
kanerich
And Fake Watches? Seriously, look around. See those walls? They're glass. It is true that buying reps is morally ambiguous to begin with . . . but I think most of us believe that selling reps as reps and selling reps as genuines are not the same thing. I think it's clear from Eliott's own statements and acts that in selling his "TC Dirks" he fully intends for people to think his Dirks are the genuine article, and he is absolutely not selling them as replicas, in homage to Dirk or whatever. And since most members seem to agree that they can live with repping while the passing off as gen constitutes fraud (and I'm not saying that's a legally defensible position per se, it's just how people clearly feel), it's not surprising that a distinction can be made by members of this forum. But I absolutely agree that this forum is a slightly awkward place to take the moral high ground when it comes to IP issues.

tutima
Well, most of us have heard of Dirk straps, named after the fine gentleman who makes them Dirk Grandry. He never thought to trademark his own name for the straps he made. Well, someone else did and is using him name now to market his own line of crap, I mean straps: Link to Paneristi How low do you have to be to take another man's name and use it to make money under false pretenses? Check the first generation Dirk straps that has the OP logo on them. I wonder why no one ever said anything about them. He made his straps famuous by copying the original Panerai straps down to the logo buckle.

Watchmeister
I am with Davidws on this one. Trying to buy Veni Strap was the final straw. And with all the analogies about reps and what he is doing, IMHO, people are losing the bigger picture. He and his forum have gone after and threatened folks on this forum and RWG. Get a clue. If you are buying from him, you are doing so for your own selfish reasons. Good luck to those who do!

Craytonic
And Fake Watches? Seriously, look around. See those walls? They're glass. Issue not that it is fake dirk strap. Issue is that people buy it thinking it is a real dirk strap. We know our reps are fake. It isn't like buying a rep on the board. It is like selling a rep on ebay as the real deal. COMPLETELY different.

In retrospect that was probably the wrong call. By the way, I'm not dissing abay . . . he really did send me two free replacement bezel inserts. Unfortunately, shaking my new and improved YM at women and screaming "SEE, THAT'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE, NOW LET'S F***!" doesn't seem to be impressing them so I still claim harm.
