  1. oh DEAR LORD ok here's MY guilty contribution (I was SO proud back in the day of my $40 purchase) NEXT to it's Noob BIG brother tick....tick...tick... at least it had a hack signal and an eta quartz movement. i remember bringing this piece to a seudo watchsmith to get the battery changed out, and the look of disgust on his face upon gazing upon it...those kind of images stay with you forever
  2. perhaps the LV will actually be worth something in 20 years...
  3. Tribal is your ebay glass a clarks? im hearing that ofreis has the bevel and clarks does not. also how well did your insert recess? its hard to tell in the pics thanks.
  4. ALMOST forgot: pegwood or toothpicks lint free watch paper OR wax paper, post its needle eye right angle tweezers dial protector sheets OR cut wax paper to size using the bergeon model ALSO; DONT use iron drivers or pliers, ONLY ANTI MAGNETIC or plastic.
  5. looks like im gonna have to spend MORE money : p how do the date mags compare between the clarks and ofreis? exact same dimensions and strength?
  6. i dont think an AD will stock you. i've tried before. bergeon, horotec seem to be the best in terms of durability and delivered quality. asian stuff sometimes isnt cut to spec or the screwdrivers break /warp/dont come sharp/ or wear out to easily. i use asian screwdrivers tho cause of the cheap price and in terms of value i think are worth it. tools in my kit so far: START WITH THESE: jaxa wrench LG openall link pin remover (or use paperclip) spring bar remover dust blower 9pcs screwdriver set silicone grease MORE ADVANCED KIT for fixing most things (in order of most used personally): loupe 3x 5x 10x finger cotts dust cover #5 tweezer plastic tweezers victorinox swiss knife soft work pad, (just a recycled old mouse pad that was really soft) case vise movement holder presto hand remover hand press crystal press file set 400, 800, 1200 grit sandpaper divided storage tray mini protractor triangle watch makers hammer ultrasonic cleaner demagnitizer crown stem cutter needle nose pliers pin vise mini anvil digital calipers CHEMICALS for the advanced kit: Rodico OR rub off (which leaves less grease in my opinion.) metal polish (green or white) acetone mobious oils lighter fluid OR parts cleaner hypo cement UV glue this complete kit is VERY WELL rounded and can acomplish most tasks. most likely this is all you'll need
  7. holding a real sub is holding the legacy in your hands, even if you fool everyone on the street, you'll know that its not real and somehow not feel as satisfied...well for me personally... regardless tho VERY NICE job with the GMT : )
  8. its a VERY excellent rep no doubt. Robbie when i was dismanteling my noob for mods i found before i pressed the crystal back into the case it yielded a near perfect date mag. also that was the exact width in rehaut that was missing from the rep i think
  9. Chris' MBKs have a different mag, closest to gen ive seen so far. i think the length is off on either the magnification or on the actual cyclops dimensions : |_28_| instead of like |__28__|
  10. wow watchobsession is expensive....it's the U.S price BUT in POUNDS sterling
  11. SEL http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t208/yo...ts/DSCN6509.jpg NON SEL http://www.rolexandtudor.com/im/Rolex-93150-580-979.JPG the difference should be obvious. when on the watch and wrist feels different and the little "hands" seen on the end of the bracelet pieces over lap the case, SEL *usually* sit flush with the case LUME is like that of any rep. its the noobmariner dial, so 1/4th the power of the real thing for about a minute I agree with you, ESPECIALLY for the speedmaster
  12. i knew there was some variation between batches and years but my god. i dont feel so bad about the noob dial now...
  13. i cant figure out how an explorer 1 could cost $5K, in looks and function it should never exceed $3.5K i dont even think its triplock.
  14. eBay or in the GTA (outside toronto) SOMAL WATCH (google somal watch canada) very nice owner, gave me a great deal as well. had decent sub inserts also. he gave me my tools for the price of the sale that had ended a week ago. prices are comparable to ebay but there is no shipping $ to pay. he sells ETA, ETA clone, asian valjoux, swiss 7750, and bergeon, horotec tools, and no name. also has his own catalogue. i picked up a bag full of treats for under $100
  15. http://cgi.ebay.ca/Rolex-Submariner-16610-...1QQcmdZViewItem
  16. the dial is RATHER disappointing: Rolex font is incorrect. the 'L' doesnt sit under the crown (there is some variation between dials however) and the "yatch-master" is too bold and should be a serif font, the dial is ALSO missing the serif "I" style bold indices at 3,6,9 theres also too much body to the crown printed on the dial but i mean all that aside swap in a gen dial and you're good to go
  17. take a trip over to Eurotimez section on this board and dont give a second thought to getting ripped off
  18. i've been trying to get a hold of ruby for the last 4 weeks about the model reviewed here as the best, but to NO avail... i wonder if Chris (EUROTIMEZ) offers the same model
  19. i see plenty of new M serial engraved subs on ebay... the engraving is also smaller and sharper
  20. hah, i found this oldie in my desk drawer from 2001 (canadian prices)
