  1. great pics! I noticed you also wear on your right wrist...how is the crown?
  2. great lum,,,nice case, crystal etc....IMO the only problem with the newer doxas is the screw down crown. I've had two or three 1000t, a 600t and the screw down crown was never very smooth...you had to do the counter turn first,,then screw down. However,,,with that said..nothing is like a Doxa...
  3. Here is the bezel on mine...jack at iww did a relum so who knows but would hope he would keep it true....
  4. congrats!! There are just some days when this watch is perfect to put on...What did you use for the bezel? I've heard everything from crayons to acrylic paint..Yours looks great..I'm so confused about the lum,,part of me says leave it....
  5. Sinn U1,,,,,,the rep was so close I had to look carefully at my gen to make sure it was indeed a gen....this thing actually makes you want to learn how to really dive.... opps...how funny,,,I had dive watches on the mind.....and so I thought it was for a dive watch....not drive watch....I kept thinking....those aren't good dive watches...strange...
  6. congrats,,,been on my list a LONG time...but no luck yet....the only neg review I've read is that the screw down crown is somewhat less than what one would expect...seems to rate high on all other things..
  7. a history,,,well said,,more and more all my watches have a story....I just got into a small issue with the wife,,,,I was saying how I wanted to pick up an Alsta since it was in "jaws"....her response....how can you like a watch since it was just in a movie",,,my reponse..."just a movie"...no...epic,,adventure...a story...a piece of our collective history...
  8. will you get relum or keep as is? I think it would be nice either way......
  9. good luck,,,hope you get it,,,,these are just a different kind of watch.......
  10. wow....well,,,the most interesting thing about humans is our differences,,,,personally I got a little,,,,well,,,energized when I saw this,,,I have a similar one and it is for those "bad days" when I need something special to help me along...
  11. there is an interesting 300 searambler up on the forums also, going for 4,000 (usd)....
  12. The snowflake has such a strong appeal since it is classic and original but when one has no cash, what can you do? This is a cheap Invicta (200 usd) with an ETA movement....the hands are from motorcitywatchworks for 22 (usd),,a few mins on the bench and you got something that at least reminds one of the classic...Yes,,I know that dial...but I had to keep things cheap...
  13. I admit I do sometimes send a watch with no tracking or insurance but also know this is my risk and if the person doesn't get it I'm stuck giving a refund. However, I have known times when a watch will turn up after 6 or 7 weeks (there is a story in Dr.Petes Doxa book about a watch that turned up months (maybe it was even a year) later. I would suggest a refund with an agreement that if it shows up payment should be made. Getting the watch there in working order (IMO) should be the sellers responsiblity.
  14. too late as an e search has these already at 399+ (usd) but wish I caught this sooner...
  15. It's probably a little of all the things you mention,,,and I think this forum is a huge reason I still even consider reps..I don't even have a rep right now and was torn with the issue....a pam sub rep now...or a gen in a VERY long time. I might consider a rep but there still has to be something special to it,,,a rep that was torn apart by The Zigmeister or something besides just trying to make money...some type of art to it.
  16. thanks milsub,,,exactly what I was looking for.....It was so close I had to take a close look at my gen U1 to make sure it was gen!
  17. I checked out the U1 on a few of the sales forums and it seems like the is near or visually perfect. Has anyone done a review to spot the flaws? There has to be some???
  18. the 300t divingstar is sooo on my list...... Had this on while indulging.
  19. there is a critical element to art...the same thing as in magic,,,,doing something that others have no idea how it can be done....
  20. Nice collection! great pic,,,,,,
  21. thanks,,,I agree that I do not even go out in the rain with a vintage,,,,but worth it,,,I have plenty of watches I can wear when it looks like rain......wow....a divingstar is so on my list...but this stuff happens slow....Not sure what is next but that is what makes all this so enjoyable....not knowing....
  22. what a great project with the right bezel this will be utra cool....In fact,,,your find has me tempted to pick up a 300 (no t) that is out there right now.....This damn vintage stuff,,,,,what can you do??
  23. Got the 300t vintage today...The dial has some very lights cracks,,,it was relumed so glows pretty well,,,but hard to tell it was relumed..I have the bracelet and will put it on later,,,
