A Pile Of Questions About Omega Po Strap Options
docblackrock replied to mezzanine's topic in The Omega Area
I have a black 42 PO on rubber - buying the rubber spec and swapping out to bracelet is fine I guess (although not ideal) but not the other way round as current rubber straps (still only for 20mm lug width) have a little metal notch that needs to seat into a corresponding hole between the lugs, which keeps it seated tight to the case. I am waiting for a decent 45 PO (the chrono) with 22mm lugs and the corresponding black rubber strap -
A Pile Of Questions About Omega Po Strap Options

Sorry, what was your question again? -
Thank you all Note to self: must get out more and spend time with purveyors of stationery supplies *edit* pah, you lot and your so-called new-fangled "eraser pens" see here's the same thing something which I've not used or seen since my schooldays...
-
What? A pen that can be erased? What witchcraft is this?!!!! You actually have such things in the US??? Over here in quaint merry ol' England, we only have pencils that can be erased. Next you'll be telling me you have machines that can fly, pfffff Perhaps one of you [censored]-takers would kindly post a picture of this amazing magical pen for a simple peasant like myself....

Er, what's an "erasable pen" exactly then???

Chanel J12 Eta 28xx (white Or Black) Ceramic 38mm
docblackrock replied to Chronus's topic in General Discussion
Chronus, a few thoughts.... Firstly, ceramic.... Eddie is right in that there are many grades of ceramic. For instance ceramic blades are NOT used for surgical instruments as despite their durability and 'sharpness' they are too brittle (SS is still the king ). They are however used medically in microtomes in the lab (think salami slicer at your local deli ) to cut tissue samples into extremely fine sections ('waffffffer-thin', for you Python fans out there ) and more significantly in joint implants. And dental cosmetics too as FP stated. Then there's the tiles used on the Shuttle (massively heat-resistant but actually designed to shatter and break), the fine ceramic used for hundreds of years in the manufacture of porcelain (from Meissen and Satsuma Dynasty kilns to your local garden centre plant pots). And now watches.... And so to the J12.... As you've already heard, whichever way you look at it, it's a GIRL'S WATCH appealing to label junkies, wallet vampires and the like (various members GFs/wives excepted of course ). It's a fashion piece, end of, albeit a very expensive one (even as a rep ). Oh and only this week (in a London bar) I've seen a diamond-encrusted black J12 on the wrist of a wannabe rap star, kind of sums it up . I understand your attraction, no really I do it's an intriguing watch especially in the chrono contrasting-linked Superleggera version which I toyed with a few months back, but ultimately when you put it up against the usual suspects, I think it lacks class. Fight the urge, man!!!!!! -
Beg to differ. Domeness is more than a preference, it is a way of life

Don't be intimidated Randy, stand up for yourself man (*backhand slap*) - will take more than a blue-rinse ex-school matron with a suspicious Adam's apple to run me out of town, I tells ya Oh and heed not Bob's warnings - she's his 'big hunk of salmon' remember
-
Relevance??? This is a Champions League thread, so League results not welcome (ESPECIALLY those from yesterday's matches ) Please don't confuse poor old Ken, he's having enough trouble as it is with 'ladders' and funny-shaped (i.e. round) balls

Actually Neil, they brought the Fangio model out in 2001 - the year I bought mine. Took 'em 5 years to think of making the association

'Course, I'll change my mind if ever THIS baby that lives nearby comes up for sale... Prepare to drool like a St Bernard injected with lignocaine

Ah, the Targa Florio, my lost love, traded for a Monza (which I subsequently sold). One my love, one day I'll find you...... In the interim, Neil do you think you'd loan me yours? I'll scratch JM's sig on the dial for you free of charge

Picked this up on way back through Heathrow (WHSmiths). Called 00/24 - it's actually a new British edition of a Dutch magazine (do any of our 'kaaskopje' friends know it?). Not a bad read for less than £4. Some very interesting articles amid the usual promo pieces, such as the George Daniels interview and a good overview of watch placement in films (Bond etc.) Not exactly man-bag/briefcase friendly though - must be a US- size - the thing's bloody huge! Anyway here's a cover pic featuring the PO Chrono (in my favourite outfit )...

Hear hear, finally someone else says it. You could add PATIENCE in there too, seems to be in short supply these days... -
My GF shouted over (we live open-plan) to me whilst I was slaving away in the kitchen "hey, he's wearing one of your watches!'. The first and only time I have ever shown an interest in the programme, soaps are just one of those female things I just don't get i.e. dcrooz must be a girl BTW, from a distance it looked like a PAM 088 GMT

Actually I think you've outdone me right there in the Stupid Posting Award. But then maybe we should all feel honoured that for once you chose to stop lurking and actually feel moved to write something, albeit as insipid and pointless as that. Or were the [ ] smilies meant to indicate you were trying to be funny? You know, for once I know how Neil feels dealing with some of the types that infest this place, but life's too short, so I apologise sincerely in advance for giving you grief, must be the winter nights drawing in affecting my mood. Randy - seems the hungry wolves are baying for blood again, can't hold 'em back for ever -
He probably blew it all on a small glass of beer in Stockholm

Guys, why doesn't everyone just RELAX and quit bumping the thread unnecessarily. (yes I know I'm also doing it by writing this ) Randy hasn't even received the prototype yet, never mind placed an order and everyone's getting a wee bit overexcited descending from nowhere like Harpies. We're not talking crowns these are custom dials which will take a lot longer to produce. When the time comes, no doubt he'll put together fair order and waiting lists. Sorry if I sound grumpy but these endless 'me too!' posts are just grating a little. -
You're quite welcome Ken Liverpool top their table this morning after a 1-0 win last night - strangely there's omens of our 2005 triumph already, playing like a bunch of girls but still grinding out results - remember the tortoise and the hare If the pattern follows there will be one match that will spark us into life (like Olimpiacos) and we will march on from there all the way to Athens
