  1. I see no reason not to go in the water with one of these, in-fact i would not be surprised if greased and tight this case should not pass a 20 bar test if not a lot more, I have watches with out even screw down crowns that pass 10 bar with out a problem, where a gen date just failed at 3 bar due to lack of a service.
  2. Top work Avitt, i miss my porto
  3. It just shows how perfect gods creations can be!
  4. Now that is good news Stephane, and having met the person in the wrist shot, i know how wonderful that feels for you and how tastefully elegant it looks!
  5. Going with a moonie on a Bob crock, makes a nice combination i think
  6. I have tried on the gen and because it is very flat it sits quite well for a 49mm watch, infact it wears far easier than a super avenger that i tried on the same day, shame about the date wheel, but it looks good over all
  7. I just reread the title of this post and saw i missed the point, but i have heard of one version of the DSSD that alowed you to push in the He velve from the out side (not good) so it is worth checking which you have.
  8. One good tip i have found to work is to remove the hands and seat then in a peice of flat pith wood, that way when you are rubbing you wont bend them, the portion of the hand that sits on the pinion will press into the pith wood easily and hold quite firm, I have generaly been able to remove finger prints with rodico, a thined down bit of peg wood and the fluid from cap cod has helped polish out scratches on some occasions but you can easily add new ones!!!!
  9. Once you have done points 1 to 4 go to your local battery change place (not an AD) and they should be able to check you watch to 50m for a few
  10. Any rep needs a bit of checking before it gets wet, just to make sure the critical points are as they should, in this case 1 The case back has an o ring, it is greased with silicone grease and the case back is on tight 2 The crown has the required 3 o-rings and they are greased (there is every possibility the watch would be wet proof with just 1 o-ring in the right place but it should have 3) 3 The crystal is seated squarly in the case and pressed home fully 4 The He valve is either functioning and has the o-ring in the right place and is greased and sealing or it has been sealed from the inside with some epoxy. (The He valve should be solid when pushed from the outside of the watch but should be able to be moved gently out from the inside of the case as this is an over pressuer valve and alows any pressure that has seaped into the case from working in a dive bell or compression chamber to be relesed as the watch decompreses) There are some great posts about He valves and their functions around here and this below is stolen from wiki pedia
  11. Just be aware that we have rules about taking reps into ADs, your jeweler may be you best friend but we should not be trying to bass them off as gens to people in the trade. Welcome to RWG

A 3717 crown may be a solution! i cant see the picks right now as i am at work but i know this is not a "super rep", version 2 mayby, do we think this is just the old mk xv case being re-used to get rid of what the makers have on stock??
  13. I have to agree with TJ here, I have swam in a 3717, a blackbird, but not my moon watch, i would not even swim in a gen, if some basic maintenance has been done it has been no problems for me. But you need to be able to do that basic maintenance or have some one to do it for you,
  14. Maxman answered as good as i could, I have had some good dealings with Eurotimez, welcome to RWG
  15. I agree with you Andreww from what i understand from the first post their
  16. We used to have dealers here but due to some legel issues now we only have collectors
  17. Good work there, and that HE valve actually looks like the the gen design
  18. Welcome to RWG you will find all the info you are looking for here.
  19. These movements are about as much of a clone and trying to clone a thin person by just dieing the hair of the fat person, sellers please stop saying clone, you are not telling the truth!
