One problem that i had with a case that i beleive came from this site was that it would not take very thick dials that we may take out of a rep pam from out main dealers
the topic is here of how it was modded to fit
synthetic crystel and AR on it. And with sapphire (without AR)
hooky, in watches we have
plexy glass (heselite)
Mineral
Hardened mineral
Synthetic saphire
All saphire crystals are synthetic
what are you refering to above?
As long as the crystal is pressed in flatly, the case back is tight and has a greased seal and the crown has the same it should be fine even with out the CG, i have watches with out screw down crowns that i have tested to 100m with out problems. As long as the crown gaurd put some pressure on the crown it will be secure, but get it tested before you swim unless you are brave.
here is a profile shot, if some one can provide a similare shot of a gen we can see the difference
The gen does not have a rehaute per se but a tention ring inside the crystal that touches the dial
I have a gen crystal and ring here that i used to try to match the colour with
I did a bit of work on a rep of the Aerospace???? top one a while ago and a bit of research about it and there was nothing like a decent rep of it back then, I think TJ used to have a rep of the bottom one dident he????
The first try was acrilic paint and a brush, then i tried to get it flatter by applying it using sharpend pegwood as a palet, in the end i went to the car shop and got a can of matt black spray paint mmasked up the case and sprayed it, a small air brush would be better still i assume
A comparison between v1 and v3
V1
V3
The only difference now it that i have tidied up the paint and the glue a bit

And another from my v3
One of the problems with not glueing the crystal in is that the seat is not flat on the sides, it is ridged for the saphire retaining ring, so a larger crystal may be difficult to sit flat. Also the bezel insert only just fits over this 342.
With the height i started off with a high dome but the dial is to far away from the crystal even with the low dome. I dont know if any of the shots show a good profile shot but i would say it as good as we can get with out major case modes like thinning the rehaute, rasing the crown and pusher positionsand thining the bezel.
If i was going to go to those lenths then i may as well make a new case
