Vic you will know when a 6497 is fully wound because the crown will stop turning and you would have to work quite hard to break any thingby turning it too hard, they are generaly surdy movements. If you have never wound one to the end give it a go, you will feel it!
I must have had my fiddy for at least 18 months now and it is still fine Except the exploding glass saga, but there is really no reason why a hand wind would not last i life time, i would love to have a Ziggy service on all my watches and then i would expect all the swiss chiss swiense ones to work for ever with subsequent servicing.
Kienzle used this method in the 80 they made what was at the time according to there marketing the "worlds most water resistant watch" by filling it with silicone oil, cant find a link but i have it in a watch mag here somewere.
I recall someone changing a 177 crystal with one bought from cousinsuk i dont for the life of me know what one it would be but 33mm rings a bell. let me know if you find any thing.
Here you go Vic
not sure if the nails go with the dial and strap (note to self make a better one) but it was the only colour i had that matched the boots i was wearing today.
We do try if you look in the auction scams you will see that we pick up many and report them, some times i think that georgegrasser does this all day if some one is selling a rep and listing as with out box and papers bid as you see appropriate and not trying to start the bidding at a gen price then ok its not too bad but when is is a blatant rep for a gen price report it
Generaly i set my railmaster with GPS and then set every other watch off that, it is good for a month, i set the clock in the car from GPS and then check via that on the way to work.
