Why not buy an entry level version first? and see if you like living with it. This is one that Angus at Pure time sells, the pictures are of a gently modded one that a pal of mine worked on. Drilled lug holes, re-lumed dial and hands etc. Once you start entering the World of vintage Rolex movements then things can get very frustrating out of hand financially. I'm sure Freddie will agree with me there!

Feel free to join in, I'll start us off with.........
1. Dial - Outer makers not touching the rehaut edge and wrong crown. Should have a 'Frog Foot Crown' correct for a 1971 MK1 1655
Thanks Akira, I greatly appriciate your imput on this. By the way you should have mentioned the issue with the dial, happy to help you out in anyway on that.
Just bumped up the original post on the 'parts' section in the Sales forum so you are all welcome to view it. Do these parts really look like they've been run over by a steam roller? I think enough said.
Guys,
We all know that a lot of what DW was offering wasn't up to scratch but the case set and dial i despatched were fine. The crown was attatched to the tube. I was very clear about what i would consider doing in terms of upgrades to Gen tube and crown etc if this guy wanted to improve upon the watch he was building.
I'm really not interested in getting into a big slanging match on here so I tell you what I'm going to do, if the guy wants his $200.00 back then no big deal my end. Have the case set and dial on me
DH
Well i guess i should now respond to this post. As some of you may know I was acting as the EU Distributor for DW's watches and parts up till the end of last year. But due to a diference of opinions regarding QC on the complete watches I decieded to step down from the arrangement.
I have therefore been selling off a few remaining case sets and dial at a discounted price on the forum. After happily taking time out to communicate and give my honest opinion on the pros and cons of building a DW based Daytona to a new comer to this area of Reps (over 25 emails) The Gentleman in question bought an un-used case set and dial with hand set from me at a very heavily discounted price. No profit on my part thats for sure.
All i can say is read my Feedback on here. And then you can come to your own conclusions. Bottom line is $200.00 worth of DW parts may not get you to your dream 6238, a little more investment may need to be put in the mix.
Thanks DH
I really like that, what's the recipe on the build please? The 4's on that bezel look great. Flightmaster hands?
I've used Domi in the past. His work is amazing
Just spoken to Dazzling Daz and he's listing it on here tomorrow night, thats of course unless CC gets there first and adds it to his Harem of beauties. If i wasn't having to fit a new Turbo to my golf Diesel this month it would already be on my wrist
Well i didn't want to mention the uncouth subject of money CC, but the bezel as a long term investment will I'm guessing cover most of the cost of the build. The bonus with Mq is that you can actually pick up the phone and have a conversation of sorts so I'm sure you'll get what he's promised you. I shan't make comment on Mr P, but that can be like talking to a brick wall as Freddie's rightly pointed out.
Sorry about that B,
Wait till you see daz's Modded Phong Tudor sub which i happen to know will appear very soon on the sales section. Hello Mr bank manager.......
Had the results of the movement strip down by my watchmaker and it only needs a new Balance wheel and hair spring. Which there happens to be one of on VRF!
This has been my easiest Franken build to date, unbelievable
CC
My 1030 is currently being 'looked at' by my watchmaker. I'm praying that its ok as it arrived in a right rough state. Purchased from an honourable member over at VRF. In 'perfect running condition' Hmmm not really.
