  1. Pbdad worked his magic on the dial, re lume and matte finish
  2. This was how mine looked before It sadly had to go to a new owner, rehaut seems to line up ok with the dial.
  3. Hi Red, Mine went in fine? What are you struggling with? Is it too small for the case. I remember having a conversation last year with Phong when i was putting mine together and he did say that there had been 2 versions produced. So might be an issue there in terms of rehaut between the 2 cases. Davids dial is definatley better than Phongs, date window is the biggest give away as well as the Homeplate position Cheers DH
  4. Congratulations on a Lovely build! Might be worth replacing the bezel Pip with a nice Offeri Tritium plastic one as per Gen. That would be the perfect finishing touch Cheers DH
  5. Ask FXRAndy on the crew, not sure if his custom silver date wheel will fit the Asian movement but its worth the question
  6. I have to agree with Andy, that case looks sadly very poor. In reality If you've invested in a Gen movement I'd save up and buy a good case, it makes sense as a long term investment if you ever decide to sell it on. The best cases in my humble opinion are from www.vintagewatchesmq.com Good Luck with the build DH
  7. Hi Andy, you can contact them on 2@vicnet.net.au Based In Oz Cheers M
  8. While we're on the subject regarding the future of Rolex, I rang Rolex UK in Bexley about a week ago to check up on the history of a potentual purchase by a friend of mine who's not that experienced with the purchase of high end watches. Guess what Rolex had to say, "Sorry but we no longer provide that service Sir" So in a nut shell if i go out and buy a privately owned secondhand Rolex tomorrow, a couple of years later when I decide to take it into my local AD for a service, I may be faced with the situation that in fact the watch has been stolen in the past. There goes my hard earned dough. Not sure if this policy is a Worldwide decision but makes collecting Rolex here in the UK one hell of a risk going forward. As Panerai 153 has mentioned Rolex are really only interested in selling new watches, personally I wouldn't give anything they currently offer the time of day. The only glimmer of hope and Taste in my humble opinion is what Tudor have managed to acheive recently.
  9. Wheres this guy been for the last 10 years??? Hopefully what it will do is make the price of the Gen Vintage Sports models realistic within the market place again. Over the years I've owned Gens and some very nice Frankens. I've personally had more pleasure out of collecting the -parts to build the Frankens for a realistic price, rather than owning the over inflated Gens. The prices on what i call second generation sports models ie - 16570 are certainly dropping, just over £2000.00 will bag you one from various Vendors on www.chrono24.com
  10. Very Nice Mr Z, why did I sell mine again!!!
  11. Congratulations on a the very nice individual watch, you have very good taste in my humble opinion.
  12. I think your right Freddy, the Cousins ones look exactly the same as the Gen ones I've owned before
  13. Used these before, they do need a bit of rounding off but very solid. Top ones by the way http://www.cousinsuk...4/494/1961.aspx
  14. Non Rep Day today - Precista PRS18A - Re issue of the Royal Navy Issued Precista during the early 90's
  15. The case isn't Vietnamese, so something cheaper. Phong and MQ have correctly engraved 'E's' As per Gen. Shorter Middle strokes. The whole case just looks too new. Already mentioned but even a service Insert has a plastic pip with no metal surround. The guy really didn't do his homework on this.

  18. Have to agree with al of the positive comments on the post, I've now worn mine as my daily beater for a few weeks and no complaints at all. I was initially a bit worried re-the waterproof abilities of the 4 screw held case back but its been down to 3 metres in Lake Como and didn't let water in so appears to be perfectly fine for swimming in etc. Crown function performs very smoothly and locks neatly into place. Only slight irritant on my particular watch is that the bezel spring could do with being a bit tighter, if you brush against anything then it rotates quite freely. Highly recommended rep though!
  19. Hi Pete, Yes the seconds hand is blue lumed. It actually doesn't wear any bigger than my 1665, its thinner and certainly doesn't feel 'too big' as I'm not a fan of the over sized 44mm stuff. My wrists are simply too small to pull them off! Hopefully you can get a better idea from the pictures. Cheers
  20. Hi Pete, The triangle is Lumed Green and the rest is Lumed blue as per Gen Cheers DH
  21. Hi Cougar, I rejected the first one that Angus initially offered me due to the for mentioned Luming of the triangle. This one is much better.
  22. When i ordered the watch the idea was for it to replace my Franken 1665 as an everyday wearer. Weirdly enough I actually tried on the Gen last weekend as the AD in Nottingham had one in stock. Onto the watch, I actually don't think the dealers website pictures do the watch justice and by far its the nicest rep I've seen to date, simple as. They've nailed it in terms of a £285.00 rep against a £5000.00 Gen in my humble opinion. The dial is pin sharp, the case finish is beautiful and the watch appears to be waterproof! It had its initiation in the bath this morning. There were some initial concerns regarding the caseback engravings, in reality they look the same in terms of depth as the Gen. If you were on the fence about the watch then I'd suggest pushing the button. You really won't be disappointed. The strap is also a work of art,but mine will live on one of my beloved G10 straps. Best bit for me? The ghost hands disappear against the dial, simply beautiful.
  23. Good Afternoon, From a Sheffield based member, welcome to one of the most addictive hobbies known to man!
