  1. Great to see you here 5imon, and great to see so many of the old faces coming back to the fold. With our old friends and new, we are certainly bigger & better than ever. Offshore
  2. Somebody wiser than I once said that quartz were "watches with no soul" and I tend to agree. S'pose with all the tricky stuff Seiko are doing, you could have a mechanical with "ancillaries" All this stuff still reminds me of the Dick Tracy comics from my youth.... two way radios, TV's.... won't be long before "the kids" judge a watch on the size of its processor, and download speed A bit like mobile phones..... I've still got my old reliable Nokia....15 yo, and I can still talk on it! Nah , not for me.... it would never become a vintage!! Offshore

    A Game

Girard Perregaux Or "Gone".... all my money ....on watches!
  4. Indeed... excuse us convicts from downunder, who have only recently converted to metrics ( about 20 years ago) Having been schooled in imperial, the old brain never thinks of the "real" size. Yes... that would indeed be 28.1mm' Offshore BTW, there is a formula for the size of crystal required, against the measured hole... I normally just go up one size ( most fit, but I break the odd one) Spend some time reading on the NAWCC site... valuable info.
  5. Are There Any Girls In This Forum??? Yes .. a few...some have moved on to greener pastures.....others posing as trolls still visit infrequently But don't worry, we will continue to look up the trolls skirts, until they find more responsive fora for their jollies! Offshore
  6. Davey, A lot of the old crystals are marked in " Lignes" ( French sizing I beleive) so the crystal has a sticker saying for instance... 12 7/16... this would be a 281 mm dia crystal, according to this chart. Another link is the PDF from GS, although this pertains to GS crystals specifically. http://www.gssupplies.com/GS_crystal_chart.pdf If you want to delve more in to GS crystals, spend some time on their site. http://www.gssupplies.com/watch-gauge.html I am still getting my head around the whole crystal thing... ( and have some ways to go yet) More great info can be found here- http://nawcc-mb.infopop.cc/groupee/forums/a/frm/f/6286058233 But please don't get on the NAWCC forum ( or any others ) and mention reps Good hunting, Let us all know what you finally find. Offshore
  7. Here is a chart I find handy. Offshore Sorry its on its side- prints better this way! I have some GS charts as well if they will help
  8. Right on, don't think its even shown in Oz any more. Purely for export to the unwashed masses Offshore PS And another great little money spinner- just keep sending those GBP's- we may even be able to afford a few imported footballers! ( Like everyone else..... although I see they are queuing at the door to buy those that are left here in Oz.)
  9. Gran Have a great break, and please pass on my very best regards to Dave, from self, and all his friends here. Offshore
  10. Here ya go Clive.... http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=42016 and part 2 http://www.rwg.cc/members/index.php?s=&amp...ost&p=49940 And i would hate to ever tell you to use THAT button my friend Offshore
  11. Congrats to Edge for winning the 1st PoM award, sponsored by Paul from Aspire. Many thanks Paul, we do appreciate your support and generosity. Just have a look at this wonderful prize, http://www.aspire-eshop.com/product_info.php?products_id=285 And from memory there was a $500 RWG cash bonus attached as well. I have to tell you all, that the voting was extremely close, ( and not without a few minor altercations in the admin area ); whilst the winning post was very topical to our hobby, there were more than a few from "Humour", that received accolades as well. So come on all you aspiring writers, ( I'm quick tonite!)... give us your best efforts, there will be another wonderful prize announced soon , from another of our great supporter dealers. Offshore
  12. And I understand Prime Minister Howard has just left on a mercy flight to the US... sole intention to convince his mate George, to immediately declare war on Italy. ( If ya can't beat 'em- bomb 'em!) Offshore PS I'm with you Ken.. back to AFL... at least we can beat the Irish... and nobody else wants to play us! Offshore
  13. Omni Only the very best wishes from sunny Oz. Have a great one mate! Offshore
  14. The big boys are using 2 x V12 Lambo's @ 1600 a side, or Detroit diesels, with a bit more HP! ( But with a weight penalty) The Lambo's are $700k, and around $300k for a major rebuild ( every 20 hrs) A complete rig runs around $2m, and about 1/2 that again, to run it for a season, ( If you want to play overseas) For the interest, I retired hurt, ( Physically, financially, and emotionally) a few years back, after a close friend was killed. Whilst I never had the wearwithall to run a Class1 boat myself, I did Ok in the lower classes, and won a couple of Aus titles. Have had the great fortune to run some of these class 1 monsters, including placing in the worlds some years back. But as they say- thats history. So back to my latest challenge- the work bench. But fine machinery, tools, and planning are required in both areas. Offshore PS My avatar is another mates boat- Class 3- 4L- only 350hp/26' long ( outboard) and maybe 100 mph on a good day.
  15. And I just caught up with another tonight, an old timer from the early days of RWG1. He's been around these parts, but not saying a lot, however we would really like it if he said hello again. So come on old friend, grace us with your presence.... and wonderful avatar/s. Offshore
  16. Could it be that the vibration has loosened the screw holding the auto winder? There have been a number of reps sent out with winders loose or completely off. That vibration you feel, may be the rotor galloping around - free! Time for an internal inspection I suspect. Offshore
  17. All, It was this post .. in conjunction with some other stuff that was going on from him at the time. This probably was the final straw; he was "baiting", and I BIT. Any way, I see he is over at RWG1 spreading more ill will. Better gone and forgotten. Offshore
  18. I agree with all the above, the problem is a small one. One piece of advice however, is to have watches shipped singly- don't jump in on a multiple order. And if it is possible- have them shipped to different addresses. Offshore BTW welcome to these pages!
  19. Bump. BTW, If any further replies come to this- I am away for 5 days from Monday- so don't get pissed at a lack of communication Thought we had at least a couple in Brisbane?? We could meet 1/2 way for a drink or two........Beenleigh pub? Offshore
  20. Great call Clive, We will need to post links for each ebay area ( UK, USA, Aus, etc etc) But it is time consuming, ( and a tip people) if you are going to report a listing- copy the lsting no/'s first.. saves time. Offshore
  21. @ warburg, Thanks... yes I will move it now. And BTW, just keep on reporting them. Its one of the few oppotunities we have to show we are serious about our hobby. Offshore
  22. Don't worry about GAF, or their legal equivalents from Panerai, knocking here. Ebay have this VRO ( Verified rights owners) programme. Its up to the Owner of the Intellectual Rights, to contact Ebay, to have the "offending" listing removed. Until a representative is appointed, Ebay won't even listen to complaints, although they will randomly remove some listings, just to appear to be doing something. This is not about right or wrong, but about playing the legal game of " We do everything in our power to prevent this" Of course Ebay don't want listings removed- that's their income stream..... but whilst they play the " We really try" game, they can't be taken to task. Its only if a VRO pushes the issue, that they will do anything, and then only to "comply" with a specific request. I have looked in to this issue, have even spoken to some of the VRO's ( Owners of the IR) They really see it as too difficult to enforce.... from this end....Enforcement must be from the manufacturing end.... ie , prosecute the manufacturers, who, as we all know are based out of China, an expanding ( rapidly) Communist country, whose masters are only concerned with the economy, not right or wrong. So its all about politics, it would take pressure from an industry organisation, ( Swiss watch manufacturers) to even have some token closures of "manufacturers" If we ever have GAF, or their equivalent knocking on our doors, ( Which they have done) it will only be to justify their billing fees to the the IR owners. Just my cynical view of the state of play. Offshore
  23. Nice wrist!!!!!!!!!!!! Offshore
  24. Maybe up, but certainly not running, and no answers to the obvious questions. Plenty of subterfuge though. This is not about an " us vs them " thing, although it would be nice to see some real answers. Offshore
