  1. Was doing my nightly run thru the bay, and spotted this list of Rx crystals I have no idea what the numbers are- I'm sure the Rx fans will know if these are worthwhile. http://stores.ebay.com.au/Fablewatch_W0QQc...0QQftidZ2QQtZkm I have bought a number of watches from this guy- always good descriptions- just watch his postage cost! Offshore
  2. Welcome phild, Glad your 1st experience was positive, others haven't been as lucky! The dealers here , for the most part, are time tested and true. So you can buy with a degree of confidence, ( and obviously refer to other members reviews and experiences) I do however put to you and all members a timely warning. There is nothing stopping any dealer having a run of bad luck, or simply " going bad". Its happened before, and will happen again. So, learn from the other members experiences, purchase selectively and carefully, but always bear in mind. "Caveat Emptor" Offshore Again welcome- enjoy your time here.
  3. Looks like you are a victim of the phantom auction buyer Never mind- it will all come back one day- and ... we have plans for that one!
  4. Probably shows how silly the Poms could be, getting Multiplex to do anything. Their history of completion here is so appalling that they have had to go O/S for work- won't get too much more here. When's the next FA cup final? @jtb, Gee- I'll trade my mod hat for a month to win that prize! offshore
  5. What?? Are we playing an Aussie Rules game in Cardiff???? Cos its the only "proper" football! offshore
  6. Hey marrickville boy- great to hear you are advancing so well and quickly- my home studies are painfully slow, and i don't spend anywhere near enough time "at the bench'.... and then its mainly changing batteries on quartz, and replacing bands/bracelets! really exciting stuff. Could i suggest you come up with a price structure for work, Complete tear down, oiling, and assembly =$XXX, etc... so our Aussie people know what they are looking at. I have a few projects languishing here I may throw your way. Also I have an electronic timer ( currently being repaired) and a waterproof tester, if you can't access these- and i'm just up the road ( 1000km ) Offshore PS And you have the ziggymaster as a mentor, and assisting tutor- who could ask for anythingmore!
  7. Hal A little something for you. offshore
  8. Well I'm not going to welcome Hal, cos as I remember it, he hung around at RWG1, chewed up a plethora of posts, and contributed zero to our quest for horological knowledge, or our search for the ellusive perfect rep! So Hal, put up-or shut up, or I will be forced to press the delete posts button. One could even suggest, that Hal is only here trying to build others bank accounts, or maybe even worse, insert a virus in our system, to manipulate the cash floating around here. I view Hals appearance here, the same as I would a visit from GAF! So- piss- or get off the pot. Offshore
  9. Now, people, I know as much about this as you- but why do I feel an impending bank crash, robbery, embezzelment? Any way I.ve got money in there- " Safe as a Bank" Offshore
  10. And so, isn't competition such a great and wonderful concept for the buyer? Really fine tunes a sellers thinking offshore
  11. Wet dream for mine! offshore
  12. That just broke me up- funniest thing I've seen in years. More more more Offshore
  13. Yep, That'll do me- Ryannon takes out the 1st pot, in what may well become a long list of bonuses here. Gran, we won't make it as easy next time; whilst the info came thru- it was all available in that wonderful treasure trove that Neo created in our old home. How about something a teensy bit more difficult next time around- Like "Whats Klinks mothers middle name?" ( And no bonuses for the Klinkmeister) Or " When did Neil last apologise for a slow delivery?" So- with the Dons OK- a bonus RWG$100, to the 1st lucky punter- Ryannon And we may charge Gran ( Quizmaster Extrordinaire) with raising the " Question of the week" ( To be asked weekly/ weakly ) Offshore
  14. Gran, I've got him in a flash, those articles of Neo's are permanently embedded in my brain! But I won't let the cat out of the bag- not for 24 hours- lets see the searching/researching prowess of our newer group! Offshore PS First one to name him gets some bonus RWG$$ ( Is it OK to give away the cash like this boss??)
  15. Geeze esmarc, A spy told me that even when you were on the surface, a large part of you was @ 10 ft take that as you will! offshore
  16. Huge congrats Steve- now we know why you went MIA! offshore
  17. Well I have seen these replica Bergeon openers where they will work on one watch, and not engage fully on another.Don't forget also you are dealing with a replica watch as well- the case back may not be correct!! So its worth checking it against a gen, or another rep. But, unfortunately these openers have a sad history. Also be very careful if you decide to buy another set, some of those out of HK & Singapore marked Bergeon, are nothing more than Indian manufactured in fake Bergeon boxes! Caveat Emptor. offshore
  18. Thanks dec, I know the guy from Caswell Plating- he's actually the brother of the Caswell guy in Canada- but he doesn't carry a lot of stock in Oz- i still have to get most of my Caswell stuff from over there! And a pain in the A it is! i have actually fired off a mail to Cape Cod over the weekend- asking if i can bring a few packets in to distribute- as they don't have a distributor in Oz- see how that pans out? @Larry- Gee am amazed that you could even correspond with yobbos But thanks for the kind offer- will come back to you, if nothing pans out with CC... Thanks again Offshore
  19. Yeh, And also from every other European, Pom, and soccer playing country.... but there is just one thing... they are all naturalised Oz.... or born here. Mostly born here, of soccer loving immigrants, who have chosen to make Australia their home. And what a hoot it would be Australia v USA in the final But veeeery long odds one may say- Nevertheless.... Aussie Aussie Aussie. Oih Oih Oih! Oh and I'll have a flutter ............ at the right odds! Offshore
  20. Paul There is no short story- its very long, involved and complicated. Your old friends, are still your old friends- likewise your "less than friends" Suffice to say, that a large number of members from the "old" RWG have now congregated in this spot, to continue their love affair with rep watches. So how about a short story on the life and times of Paul and Aspire? I'm sure it would make interesting reading and we'd be crazy not to miss it. offshore
  21. Yeh, Thats gotta work- I have actually cut a piece of scouring pad in to a circle- for roughing up and descaling some other stuff I need to clean to gold plate- and it works too. Now all I have to do is to find someone with Cape Cod cloth in Oz- they musn't want to export- cos their freight cost is ridiculous. offshore
  22. I've waterproofed a couple of Rx for guys at work.. Both initially would have leaked at 3atm, but new crown seals fixed this. ( I replaced rears as well} and tested to 6atm. One guy has been to 120' ( about 4atm), so the testing certainly works! In my younger days I did a fair bit of diving- some ridiculously deep- ( on air) and had instances of genuine good quality divers watches, which had only recently been serviced- either flood or fog. I put this down to the extreme depths ( 250'+) and pressure extra created by movement or possibly bumping and flexing the case. I've probably tested 100+ watches now- some with a vacuum style tester, but most with my Mido ( Bergeon style) Interestingly- I have yet to see a leak from anywhere but the crown seal area- both crystal and casebacks have been 100% ( although on inspection I have seen a few case back gaskets chewed ot twisted) If your gunna do any more than walk past the shower.... get it tested! offshore
