  1. There has been some discussion in other places about these. Not confirmed, however I wouldn't be surprised. O/S
  2. I wouldn't be gambling on that assumption, when we are talking about the rep biz! O/S
  3. Careful here guys...rumour has it that there are now both ETA and Sellita clones out there. If you were definetly getting an original, ETA or Sellita,....ETA no contest. However in this more grey world we find ourselves, maybe just a little more research is required here!! O/S
  4. I just had a quick look at Seiko, (I have a parts a/c) and they don't list any dials still available for that model, (at least not in Oz!) Guaranteed there will be an aftermarket one in the Phillipines tho! O/S
  5. Guys, A client of mine, has just given me an 18K solid gold bezel (Fluted ala DJ D/D) which he has asked me to sell for him. It has a scrap value of over A$200- A$250, and he is saying he paid around $1k for it?? Its in brand new condition, measures 35.15 OD and 30.5 ID. He would like to think he would get 1/2 his money back. ($500) Is this realistic? What do these things sell for? It doesn't have any stamping, so I would think it was aftermarket. I turn myself over to the experts on these things. Offshore
  6. You guys may not know how funny some of the stuff in there actually is. There are some wonderful word pictures of mods on other watch forums, and of course the a"rare & sexually desirable rock star moderators on the very cool and secret forum" When I heard "Ass monkey moderators" I was It sounds too much like another forum we know! Offshore
  7. Bottom centre of the "front" page. Link - http://www.rwgforum.com/index.php?app=forums&module=extras&section=stats&do=leaders
  8. Guys, I have a gen Girrard Peregaux (Quartz), which has a date wheel which has been blotched and smudged by some solvent. I am looking for someone to make a new date wheel (or overlay). A paid job, its for one of my clients. Just need someone with the expertise...I will send the DW by mail...or maybe it can all be done with scans and file transfer??? Please PM. Thanks. Offshore
  9. In fact the guy who runs/ran that place, Richard Brown, was an active member of forums a few years back, and I believe at the time had permission to use articles from a number of our people. He authored the "Replica report" a few years back, which, when it was released was a pretty up to date guide on reps. Don't know if he's still around, but his site has certainly degenerated into a haven for scam artists. Pity. Offshore
  10. Hmmm, Best part of $4k! It was only $2200 towards the end. Not bad for a fugly watch eh TT? O/S
  11. If you are talking about case parts, the dealers can get them most of the time. if you are talking about movement parts, the movement manufacturers aren't set up to supply any parts, and won't set up parts departments, so no parts will be available for Chinese movements unless there is a change in the thinking. This is a continuing source of aggravation, however it all stems from the very low prices being charged for complete new movements. O/S
  12. Dunno, Some Pateks ran movements from 3rd party suppliers, so you would need to know what was in it. It could be a quick and easy repair. But agreed, if it had to go back to PP the repair/service would be as much as the watch. Even then for a solid gold PP O/S BTW, If its in a pawn shop, he will have a load of margin...probably can be had for $1500, even $1k. I'll bet he paid very little for it...if anything. O/S

  14. I have seen quite a few as new Tissot and Bulova recently, which look like they are being manufactured in China. Shouldn't be a surprise....we will find everything coming from there in a few years. I wonder if this 7750 is also Chinese born? Can only hope its better than an A7750, and that there are parts available for it. Really starting to make a mockery of "Swiss made" Offshore
  15. Fasci and I get our bars from the same source, so you can take it as read that the Watch Bitz ones are the same quality.(and a better price for forum members) Offshore
  16. Yes..... wonderful 'pay it forward" timing, and in the true spirit of Christmas. Huge thanks to alligoat for upholding the pay it forward tradition of this place. I have received, and sent many items over the years, so it makes me proud to be a part of this forum, and to see the tradition continuing. Merry Christmas RWG, members and staff. Offshore
  17. Dan, I have edited those details. Don't need the world to see that sort of info. If you send me a PM I may be able to assist. Offshore
  18. TheEuropean Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will be theofficial language of the European Union rather than German, which was the otherpossibility. As part of thenegotiations, the British Government conceded that English spelling had someroom for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in plan that would becomeknown as "Euro-English". In the first year, "s" will replace the soft "c"..Sertainly, this will make the sivil servants jump with joy. The hard"c" will be dropped in favour of "k". This should klear upkonfusion, and keyboards kan have one less letter. There will be growing publikenthusiasm in the sekond year when the troublesome"ph" will be replaced with "f".. This will make words likefotograf 20% shorter. In the 3rd year, publik akseptanse of the new spelling kan be expekted to reachthe stage where more komplikated changes are possible. Governments will enkourage the removal of double letters which have always bena deterent to akurate speling. Also, al wil agre that the horibl mes of the silent "e" in thelanguag is disgrasful and it should go away. By the 4th yer people wil be reseptiv to steps such as replasing "th"with "z" and "w" with "v". During ze fifz yer, ze unesesary "o" kan be dropd from vords kontaining"ou" and after ziz fifz yer, ve vil hav a reil sensi bl ritenstyl. Zer vil be no mor trubl or difikultis and evrivun vil find it ezi TU understandech oza. Ze drem of a united urop vil finali kum tru. Und efter ze fifz yer, ve vil al be speking German like zey vunted in ze forstplas.
  19. New border security arrangements in the USA, have just increased the cost of mail into the USA. A new charge has been levied in Australia to cover these added costs. My query is really as to who should be meeting these charges. If the USA wants more security, shouldn't they pay for it? Here in Oz, we are hit with some fairly outrageous post fees compared with say a similar parcel from USA to Oz, so this added impost really rubs salt into the wound. It will mean for instance, the cost of me shipping one of our tool kits from Oz to the USA will jump from $36.50 to $45.50. Sheesh, the $36.50 was bad enough, the extra $9.00 really makes things difficult. Personally I think if the US Government are so concerned about postal security, then the costs should be born by the government from general revenue, not applied as a special add on cost, and passed on to the sender of the parcel! Every time an Australian spends the extra $9.00, it does absolutely nothing for any increased security in his homeland! Offshore
  20. Go to the top!....admin will always get an answer...eventually. Will leave a message in the admin area as well. O/S.
  21. Dunno about Cousins, but they are ex stock at Watch Bitz. http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=242 Just register for your forum discount, and you will find they are about $3.00 each. And if you ask nicely by email, I may be able to arrange some cut price postage in an envelope. Offshore
  22. @Red, The dial is bigger than the exit hole, so you are still going to have to remove the glass. You need one of these.- http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=112 You may be able to release the stem from the rear, or as mentioned earlier, it is a split stem, which you will "break" apart from the dial side. Google "split stem" for a description. Once you get the plexi out, shoot me an OD, I more than likely have a replacement. O/S
  23. Sorry guys, Offshore is on the Gold Coast, but doesn't work on reps, due to a total lack of spare parts! Its easier to just buy a new movement and install it. O/S
