Seller warning not to post QC pics on forum, is this normal?
offshore replied to picoweb's topic in General Discussion
OK, As someone who has been around for almost as long as forums have existed, my take on this is that they (QC pics) are not only a waste of time...(Do you know the watch you are shown is what you will receive?)...but they are also really against what this hobby is all about. The reason we have so many "experts" is that they took the time to study various dealers photos, and make their own comparisons with the gens. So if the next generation are going to lean on them to tell them the faults, then who will be around when Gen Z appears? ( To analyze the faults) It seems that some are unwilling to do their own homework, and be happy with their decision. Maybe thats why this world is in such a mess? Make your own decision, after having done your due diligence, and be happy with it. And maybe read my sig...I've had it now, in various forms, for 10 years around these parts. Offshore -
If I hear you right, you are saying the watch slides on the acrylic ring? So you just tighten the strap/bracelet so it is a tight fit, which is why they have "spring" built in. And a bit of D/S tape will soon stop any tendency to slide ( if your shelf is uneven) Pho i wonder how you see them as a total pain...I have been using more than 200 in my shop for display, and we have sold more than 1000 to various watch shops for display. No one has complained or even commented about them. However I bow to your superior knowledge in all things horological . Offshore

This one? http://www.technomarine.com/Collections/Watches/Item/sport-13.sls If so, it uses a Miyota 2105, and therefore requires a SR626SW or 377 series battery. If not, check the exact watch and ref the movement it uses. As kbh said "Google is your friend" O/S

If the watch is a "brand" name/model, the fitted battery will be listed on the manufacturers web site. If it is a "no name" see if you can see the movement fitted...brand- model, and we will be able to work out what is needed. If all else fails, and you have a set of calipers, measure the diameter and approx depth of battery needed, and we may be able to sort out what is needed. And/Or post a photo of the movement. O/S

This is as much about non supply of parts, in an attempt to drive repair work to the "Authorised Service centre" You can bet Swatch will still have a supply of circuit boards, for their own use! This whole deal of setting up boutique brand outlets in each capital city, and removing AD's, is so a buyer for that brand has only one place to buy, AND to get their service work done. And the consumer is screwed again. First the cost of ETA quartz movements was bumped to a price whereby they were again worth repairing, and replacing circuits/coils/quartz...then the parts supply is removed! Cosy eh! O/S

My first and last words on this. We have a forum rule- [26] - NO replica pictures should be posted on the genuine time piece forums by the members of RWG. A violation of this rule will get you permanently banned. Our little underground hobby does not need this kind of attention. The emphasis is mine! Isn't this little bit of forum baiting in direct contravention of this rule? Poor form. Offshore

Nanug, I'd be happy to trade....however I think the owner of the watch, who has had it from new, may get a little pissed! A

I have just received a Tudor, from the 1960's- marked "Tudor Prince Oysterdate- Rotor self winding" on the dial. Its running a 2462 movement. It has a stripped crown tube and I am looking to replace it, however I need an ID first. It looks to measure 3.7mm outside. the only further ID on the watch is a number between the lugs which is almost indiscernable but its 57???7. I ma guessing this may be a serial. There is another number between the other lugs but it is unreadable. The case back is marked."Original Oyster case by Rolex Geneva" Hoping someone here has there head around this one and may be able to ID the part or even better point me at one. The crown has the typical Rolex symbol with a dash under. Think its OK in the thread. Thanks, Offshore

I deal in used watches, and I have a Festina chrono, (not that model) maybe a bit earlier) FS ATM for $140.00. The one I have was around $400 new, and is probably 4-5 yo, but in VGC. I would have thought a $300 watch new 6 months ago, would probably depreciate by more than $50, however the only value a used watch has finally, is how much someone pays for it, so if you like the watch, and pay him $250 for it...then thats what its worth! Good quality, respected brand name, more than probably running an ETA movement, ( if not you can be guaranteed it has a Miyota OS in it) All good there. O/S
