  1. Worth having a read of this post! Offshore
  2. @jdkno, On my last trip to GZ, I spoke with a company who were making croc straps at a VERY reasonable price. I think they also do a range of plain leather, although i didn't really ask, as the croc were so cost effective. You could custom make your strap, choose colour, thickness, size, padding in the middle, stitching, edge treatment, and have it branded whatever brand was needed, as well as have an engraved buckle or deployant. You could even nominate a section of the hide, to get fine grain or larger makings! I will be back in GZ late this month/early July, and one of my aims is to put into place a system with these people, so that we would have a form or forms to fill in and send. It will require accumulating 10+ strap orders before sending, but at the pricing I saw, I don't think it will take very long to get some orders together. I haven't worked out yet whether we would ship direct, or via my office here. Just one of the many things to be decided. So if you can wait until mid/end July, I am hoping to have a very acceptable proposition to put to the members. Offshore
  3. Yes, We do not want sales posts modified, so that if a dispute arises, ALL the pertinent facts are available to view. This is becoming pretty silly. We DO have the ability to make the posts so they cannot be edited in any way. We have left this off, as a number of members have wanted to be able to edit other parts of their posts. However if people persist, we will simply make post editing unavailable. And then everyone will get pissed off....for being "controlled", when all we are asking is that a rule is not broken.
  4. The deployant wouldn't be a huge issue, the black PVD however would, and will. I just last week ordered a large quantity of deployants, and in sending the order, I asked for the same again in gilt (gold) I was told they had to be sent to the platers and my order wasn't large enough to have that done. ( So I have ordered a double dose of S/S and will send some to the local GPlaters!) I think you will have to do the same to get a black PVD. Offshore.
  5. We think this is the same animal panerai153! Raul Gomez and Mauricio Gomez are names we have. I think he was vintage 1680 when he scammed here last. We will be posting full details in a seperate thread shortly. Offshore
  6. Hey JKay, I don't believe its only 2 years! Feels like you have been part of this place for a lot longer. So you are now required to make up all that time we thought you were here! (How obtuse is that reasoning?) Anyway, hang around, we like your style! Offshore
  7. Welcome to RWG!

Just watch your P's & Q's and you will enjoy a long & fruitful stay.

  8. These test to 6 ATM, however the recommendation for longevity is occasional use to that depth, but 3 ATM for base work. My experience is that if a watch passes to 3 ATM, it will almost certainly go to 6 ATM. (And anyone needing more than that shouldn't be worrying too much about the watch on his wrist, as he will have much more sophisticated equipment doing the main job!) Talk to me about various shipping options, depending on where you are based...the freight has a big bearing on the final price!. Offshore
  9. I guess, you need to try and balance the cost of top quality tools, in this case tweezers, against the lesser items. If you are paying $30+ for a pair of tweezers, you may find that 5 pairs of $6.00 tweezers do a better, more serviceable job. You may not! But perspective needs to be taken into the balance. The hands broach holder you speak off can be purchased as a Swiss item at around $60 or from Indian suppliers at $14.00. They both do the same job, and I know which one I use,. Same for the hands fitters. The Bergeon set is $80+.......... I know I bought one! Now I sell the lower cost item at $15.80. Does EXACTLY the same job! Finally. Can I interest you in a pressure tester? These were sold by Bergeon at $1000+ wholesale. We have one which sells for 25% of this price, and I can assure you it is EXACTLY the same item. If you want the stickers...by all means pay $750 for them...I choose to order ours without those stickers, so as not to ruffle the establishments feathers...but I am 110% sure I sell exactly the same item!! In fact my biggest issue is working out a cost effective method of shipping them. Because the shipping cost is sometimes greater than the item cost!!! Interestingly, it was the outrageous prices of tools, which got me into the business a few years back....and from what I have learned since, I can only say ...Don't believe everything you hear about tools. IMO, the only area that the Chinese manufacturers are weak in is case hardening. So driver blades, tweezer tips et al need to be looked at, and possibly sourced elsewhere. Or you can take a more pragmatic approach, and just keep replacing them. I do believe we are now seeing improvements in these areas, and i will be interested to see the developments on my next trip, next month. I am always available to discuss, and give my HONEST opinion. Just contact via PM or email. Offshore
  10. Yep We have them in stock! http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=315 Only $24.00 for RWG registered members! www.watchbitz.com.au. Offshore
  11. The horrible disaster is now having its effect, even on the watch business. Just received notification that Japanese capacitors/accumulators are in short supply, and will remain so indefinetly. Gotta wonder what effect it has had on production lines at Seiko and Citizen, and in parts supply to a multitude of other watch makers who use their movements and other supplies. My man tells me that capacitors will be VERY scarce for a long time, and there is some downturn in battery production, although battery plants in other countries are taking up some of the slack ( Read China) So all those who have demanded Japanese manufactured batteries, and shun Chinese, are going to have no option in the future. I know that Toyota in Australia has gone to half shift in their vehicle assembly plants...wonder how many other industries are being hurt by lack of component or material supplies? Offshore
  12. The search button is your friend. This- http://www.rwgforum.com/topic/126724-replicawatchreport/page__p__920010__hl__%2Brichard+%2Bbrown__fromsearch__1#entry920010 may answer some questions. Offshore
  13. Congrats S! Glad I had a tiny part in one of the "attachments" for the ceremony! Nice choice of watch! Offshore.
  14. Dave, Our Rolex specific set is $43.50 for RWG members. http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=50 If you don't want to spend that money, the multi point tool, when teamed with a bench mounted case clamp will do an excellent job on Rolex case backs, as well as many other styles/brands. http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=49 You do need a case clamp as this one is a two handed operation. Don't forget that RWG members get much better pricing once signed up at www.watchbitz.com.au Offshore
  15. I would certainly hope so! We don't need long term members becoming dealers without first advising admin that they are trading! Offshore
  16. Tom, If it IS Swiss ETA, it can probably be repaired. If however it is a clone or other Chinese movement, you are best to replace it. Offshore
  17. We have this available. http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=39 Offshore
  18. I picked up one of the Timex with sweeping second hand recently. (In a batch of watches.) Eventually managed to get it running. I have had it for sale in my market shop with no interest at $100, so they are obviously worth (a lot) less than that! Just a curiosity IMO. Offshore
  19. BTW mma, those hotel safes are worse than useless for security. Most of the hotel staff have the emergency/fail code, so in fact you are gathering all your valuables in the one place so they may choose what they want! Depends on the country you are in, but your current destination is renowned for emptying room safes. O/S
  20. They probably need a service, or maybe just some time on your wrist. I have found that some old mechanicals which aren't running will sometimes start up after time in a warm place or even on the wrist. Worth a shot, but if they do start to run, they still probably require servicing. O/S
  21. We sell it with forum discount @$6.00 ATM. However if there is some demand and we can sell a reasonable quantity, the price can drop pretty dramatically! The ends are rounded, but I wouldn't call them domed. O/S
  22. I would be interested in a comment from those that know as to how this springbar which we get actually fits into the scheme of things? Is this one close in your eyes guys? http://watchbitz.com.au/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=308 Offshore
  23. I normally burp it, and put it on the tit! JK. I always do a WP test, and then put it on the wrist for 24 hours to see what is happening. Depending on those results, various directions are followed. O/S
  24. This is now in the hands of the Admin IT gurus! Look forward to the JK. Hopefully they will get to it soon. Offshore
  25. What movements are you trying to get serviced? And where are you located? O/S
