Just below the top task bar, is a link to "Upgrade your membership", please go there. Normally renewals are advised, but with the recent upgrades, some of these types of posts may have been lost or overlooked. However its easy to become a member again, and we thank ALL those who upgrade, which helps in keeping the doors to our home open. Offshore

@Nanug, Don't forget also when testing, that you need to pump the pressure, and leave the watch stand for up to 2 minutes in the compressed air, before "dunking". This is to give any leaks into the watch time for the air to get IN! Its also why, when you release the pressure (VERY slowly), sometimes a crystal will blow completely out, especially if its a rep with those dinky plastic retaining rings And if this method was followed with some of these old higher pressure testers we see here, I wouldn't be surprised if even gen crystals with adequate seals didn't blow out....the whole design is to keep water out, not to hold air in! I'll bet those big capacity testers were never designed to test with movements inside, or we would have seen a lot of very wet movements! Offshore

Setting Instructions here- http://www.seikowatc...t/ib/index.html If that doesn't do it, give me an email, and I can send you the parts list, with tech info. O/S I actually just sent that tech doc on PM.

I have heard the Rx are also micro dotting all spares, so they can trace them back to the point of distribution and fitting. Sounds like an extraordinary step to take to be able to track parts, but then again we are talking about "them"! So if an AD or repair center let a part out, and it was subsequently fitted by another repair house,Rx could "lean" on the original parts distributor. I guess thats sure to get the attention of the parts distributors. Then again, Rx could just tell them they are doing it! O/S

My ex, who is a seriously dumb blonde, rang recently to ask my advise on taking out travel insurance, as she was flying to and from Yemen. As we were going through the form and filling in details, she asked, "What does beneficiary mean"? "Oh, thats the person who pays all the bills.... just fill my name and address in there darling" was my response. Offshore

Give me a length and width, I will have a rummage through the scrap box and see what is close! There were a lot of watches made of this shape, just depends on the dimensions. O/S PS In mm please Also where the crystal curves...... does it have "sides", ie is the bottom of the 4 sides flat, or do the 2 long sides (along the base) have a curve?

Happy to see it up and running, and returned to health Marty! Offshore

I can say with some confidence, that you will be EXTREMELY lucky to buy that crystal off the shelf. If that was presented to me, I would immediately quote to cut a crystal. The curve in it creates an extra headache! As a normal charge starts at $40 to cut a crystal (MG) methinks it is headed for the big roundup in the sky! Offshore

Yes, we are aware of that. Still being investigated! Bloody new software. O/S

These were instructions from "Da Boss" earlier today if any log in problems arose. If this doesn't cure the evils, send a PM to Admin. Offshore PS On a side note, we are all rolling around in laughter in the admin area....one of our team has also been "logged out" ( We are telling him he's been sacked)

Thomas has been playing with some software updates. Looks like all aren't playing fair with him! I'm sure he will chime in here and advise. Also we are aware of some log in issues. Offshore

Hey John, Welcome aboard. Plenty of Aussies here...we have admin team members in Qld, NSW, and Vic. And a bunch of members in your town. You won't find better watch info...rep or gen...than in these pages. Offshore

S, Yes, very much so. Mores the pity that some of the reps don't come out with Seiko movements...don't think Mr Seiko actually sells his stuff for anything else but replacement parts....Hmmm, I'll have to ask if I can buy a complete movement! That watch on the left, had obviously been a mechanics watch. The bracelet was black and FULL of grease...took a few plunges in the spa, and a bit of scrubbing to get it clean. Even all the joins at the caseback and bezel were full, but none had found its way inside. Both of them are front entry BTW. Clip the bezel off, including the crystal, clip the back and release the stem and voila! Obviously I got a bit heavy handed with the stem release, hence the "keyless works" op tomorrow. The crystal was scratched to hell, and cracked, but I found a replacement in the plexi box, as well as one for the 7005-2000. I had a gold '71 model the same recently, sold it for very good $$, and unfortunately, as much as I love these two, they will be "on the block" this weekend. Gotta eat! Offshore.

Another couple of fine old ladies graced the doorstep at Offshore's today. Two more classics from Seiko. On the left is the older sister, a '61 #66-9990, manual wind. An ebay purchase, for very few $, she went through the spa, had a new crystal fitted, and awaits a minor op on the keyless works tomorrow. Her larger and (marginally) younger sibling on the right, is a '71 7005-2000, auto wind. also went through the spa, and has a new crystal and strap. Quite amazing that both these watches, which haven't been used for at least 10 years, fired up and are running under 10sec/day. I will give them a clean as a matter of course, however these old Seiko movements really are bullet proof, I reckon these 2 would go another 50 years, without touching them. Really love these old plain face, simple design ( uncluttered) watches. Classical understated elegance. Offshore

I'll spend a bit of time in a couple of days and get some better shots, those were very much on the run. And some side shots for PeteM, Yeh, the "Doxa" got lost in all the bright lights, and the fill I used. I've never been too flash as a photographer, however that was a real hit and run effort. O/S
