Thought a few may be interested. My wife took a photo of my little stall at the local market. What a pleasant way to spend Saturday morning, fixing and talking about watches. Tis especially satisfyingwhen one gets positive comment. Had a watch arrive this morning, the lady said she had it at 3 jewellers, and none could get it open. A little inspection, select the correct caseback tool, and voila, back off. New battery..... $7 thanks lady... and off she trotted, to tell all and sundry what a great watchman was in the market... got 4 more jobs from the recommendation. Fix a few, sell a few,........ good times. Offshore

So, to the learned gents of this little comp........do I still hold a valid ticket with Barcelona? You gotta understand, that we Aussies don't comprehend what goes on in this raffle But I keep on seeing ( I think) their name up in lights.. so I guess I'm still holding a ticket???? Offshore

OK, Mine, really messy by comparison to the others, but I'm naturally a messy individual Off to the right of this, I have another bench with my timer, WP tester, and quartz circuit tester. The tall cabinet to the right is all straps/bracelets, and batteries, the cabinets to the left are springbars, O Rings, screws, crystals, and other assorted "bits". In front of me are the "Work in Progress" stuff, and small hand tools. I have a seperate piece of board, with presses, vices, case holders etc mounted on, which I put up on my workspace , as I need them. And the lower cabinet to left, has my "library" And my "modding desk" is directly behind this... that is forum modding..not watches... haven't gone there yet! Offshore PS... See the yellow books inthe library....."Watchmaking for Dummies"

John, I'm sure the Oz team won't need the pills..they realise that some of their downfall last time around came from that little dose! Will however comment on the wicket produced for this latest game....must be an imported Pom groundsman No Aussie could possibly produce such a diabolical track, to play a test on. ( although sorrowfully he is an Oz, but of Pom extraction)... as most of us are anyway. It didn't deteriorate much on the last day... just the Poms got stage fright... and Warne was at his superlative best... backed up by 10 or 11 others... who KNEW they could win the game. I believe the real difference between the 2 teams, is the confidence the Aussies have in their ability to WIN. There was no panic, ( unlike Pietersens 7.. all thrown... just at a time when restraint was needed) Really hard to see them climbing up from here. and it may get worse... we could well see a couple with slashed wrists tomorrow morning But seriously, the morale would be at an all time low.. truely time for the old English stiff upper lip. On to Perth... not the infamous bouncy & quick wicket of days yon, but will do enough to offer a contest. Offshore

jtb, I got $20 on this morning @ 25-1 the win... Yeh.. I can bid on the solid gold Brietling on the bay tonite! Offshore

As no one seemed much interested in my cricket musings, I haven't bothered to report on the 2nd test. (Although Ken and I have discussed the state of the wicket at length) Not much to say now either ....except........ Warney, you are a champion. Offshore

Will Someone Explain This Locked Thread Bs
offshore replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in General Discussion
Bill, We hear you loud & clear. Firstly he has been given a sabbatical, we don't need trolls stirring s**t. As I said its a tightrope we walk... but in this instance , he has shown his colours elsewhere, and might I add been permanently banned, so a "cooling off" period, may mean he comes back with a better attitude... if not, he will join the ranks of the disenfrachised. As far as closing the thread...the content was against the rules of the board... it was achieving nothing except hostility and anger... why keep those things going? The troll was never going to respond again, ( not for a week at least), so the whole thread became pointless. No further defence... thats the way its done here... each mod has his own decisions to make... we can't be all here all the time.. but we will back each others calls, as long as they are just and valid. AND this WAS. Hope you understand. Offshore -
@TJ, Yeh I've commented on your rig before, lovely stuff... and I am inherently a mono man, even though the cats do run quicker. Whats she run... 60 +/-?. And just love to see the young ones getting in to it early! There was a great offshore lady from the US, back in the late 70's/early 80's... Betty Cook, could that lady punt a big mono... had the pleasure of meeting her @ the '82 worlds in Melbourne. Knee high to a grasshopper... but some of the biggest gonads I've seen... and she was a winner!!!! @Nanug... yep its a boat alright ...fugly though... ( except for the name of course ) Thats not a harpoon on the foredeck is it?? Only for medicinal purposes I hope. Offshore

Will Someone Explain This Locked Thread Bs
offshore replied to TJGladeRaider's topic in General Discussion
Bill, Think I may have been the one who locked that thread, and if so .. apologies. My reason for doing so was the thread was being crapped all over, people were not obeying rule #4, and I am just plain getting sick of all the thread crapping & off topic posts. Please realise it is a tenuous rope we walk in moderating... you can't please all the people all the time, although we do try hard to. Offshore PS Have now just seen another thread that may be the offending one, not my locking... but only 'cos I didn't see it first. Would have done exactly the same. I don't beleive we need that sort of crap here. -
Hi TVT, The answer to that one is yep! One & the same. Some of us "old" guys from RWG asked him to build us a home, which he obligingly did. I came on the scene about the time TRC started ( I'm aland over there), and was one of the early RWG'ers. After/during the Blade fiasco, a group got together to try to rescue what was left... and long story short, RW Guide was born, with T as the helm... and here we are... bigger & better than ever. I think the reason for not amalgamating with TRC was a "style" thing... maybe they are a bit more WIS..S..S, over there. Offshore

So there it is ladies & gents; straight from the horses mouth (So to speak) Independent we are, and so we will stay... and your admin team, and this forum, will remain unbiased (but not without our own personal opinions) To me, this is the very crux of belonging to this group, and any time we move away from this ideal, would cause myself and all the others involved here to have to take a look at our " reason de etre" Isn't this part of the reason, this wonderful home was established? To eradicate influences from outside parties... beyond our control? Hope it finds an accord with all out there. Offshore -
