  1. Any news on this topic? Those 3,6,9 Rivieras are the best looking of the collection IMO. It would be great to have them in rep form!
  2. No, but in the meantime I did find this review. An interesting reading.
  3. Late reply. I now own the watch previously owned by digitalnrg. Yes, the day and date wheels need to be upgraded, even though the date wheel is the best I've ever seen in a replica. I opened the watch and synchronized the day and date wheels so they both now change at midnight. And I also noticed that the minute marker numerals are not all perfectly aligned. If you take a closer look at the rep pictures posted by the OP, you'll see that the 6 and 0 at 60 are misaligned; so are the 1 and 0 at 10, 1 and 5 at 15 and the 2 and 0 at 20. The 60 and 15 are the most noticeable though. Further, the numbers imprinted on the chrono subdials are crooked and rougher than the corresponding on the gen watch. But most of all, the one flaw that bugs me is the incorrect logo on the dial.
  4. Does anyone have any experience with the speedmaster day-date? I would like to get one, but not before hearing from owners of this watch. Thank you.
  5. Did anyone order one yet? By the pictures at dealers' websites, how good a replication do you think they are? From the dealers' websites I can see the subdials with correct concentric circles. The colour combinations are still not entirely correct, but the all black and black/yellow/silver versions seem pretty spot on. Bezel cut is still square, the all-black is PVD rather than rubber coated, the quality/accuracy of the strap quick release mechanism is unclear and the day-date wheels are standard (poor) asian, even though there have been positive developments in the area (carrera day-date, top gun).
  6. I deliberately missed this thread before because I thought its contents were something else. I am really sorry to know what it is all about. Pneumonia is a PIA, but he will eventually recover. Care and rest are key factors for a fast and safe recovery. All my best wishes to this legendary member of our boards.
  7. I like my straps, either leather or rubber, tightly fit on my wrist. I do not like the feel nor the look of a free, loose watch on my wrist.
  8. Another picture, taken with the rotor in another position so as to show the balance wheel, would be useful.
  9. Well, repairable it certainly is. Easily repairable: that's a whole another story. The part that came off is related to the balance wheel assembly, and your report suggests broken pieces. If it is a new watch, contact the dealer; otherwise, take it to a watchsmith and ask his opinion.
  10. Nice collection! As previously mentioned, you have two innacurate watches in your collection, but who doesn't? May I ask where did you get that AWESOME watch case?
  11. Should I stand corrected? You have no idea how I wish to! It's been only 18 months since I boarded the rep game, but I have yet to see a decent, "low price" replica of any watch with functions other than hour, minutes, seconds and date. By decent I mean not only the quality of materials and finish/detail, but also accuracy to gen when it comes to functions. By no means I'd say that $130 is a low value, but in the replica market this is definitely - and unfortunately - the price point of the lowest quality watches, those with - at most - a close resemblance to the gen article. Here in Brazil I have seen LOTS of this low quality replicas (which I prefer calling fakes) being sold for the equivalent to US$ 150. The Montblanc Timewalker series comes to my mind. Here in Brazil (Sao Paulo) I have recently seen many many people sporting fake timewalkers, those with the solid lugs, thick, glass-bottom-like crystals, ticking second hands, squared arabic numerals and so on. Judging from the ubiquity of these, I can only imagine they are perfect daily beaters for those who do not have other watch(es). A couple of months ago I bought the quartz version of the porsche flat 6 for about US$150. Wrong subdial spacing and functions, poor dial quality, the so-called mineral crystal (as if sapphire is an organic compound!) and all the etceteras that we all know - either from this specific model or any other quartz version of whatever mechanical watch. At the time I thought it would be a great daily beater. Couldn't be more wrong, because there hasn't been a single occasion when I would prefer wearing this rather than the other replicas I own. Now it sits on my watchbox (well - the thing I call my watchbox!!). My US$300 replica watches are my true daily beaters! And strattakan, the local (brazilian) dealer is asking "only" US$100 for this replica?!?! Where the heck is this guy located, would you mind sending me a PM with his directions?
  12. Importr, do you like TAG watches? That amazing carrera day date posted by Digitalnrg now belongs to someone else...
  13. Man, this watch screams bad quality, and the price endorses it. I'd say stay away from this replica.
  14. Hi Hackr! Contacting dealers and describing what you want - even if you don't know what it is called - is always a good first idea. Otherwise, you should be able to hire a machining shop to make a new pin for you. All you have to do is bring the other one (the intact one) along with you and show the guys at the shop. It should be really easy and cheap for them to make a couple of pins to you.
  15. Should the 3, 6, 9 and 12h markers be as raised as they seem to be? These markers even cast shadow over the dial!
  16. I've been there before! Take a look at the following link: http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=54962
  17. A roll of duct tape might help you a lot!
  18. This thread just came in handy for my next project: disassembling an Hublot.
  19. Look for Francisco's tutorial on how to correct this issue.
  20. The original is slightly different in color scheme. The chrono subdials should have dark grey markers instead of white. Other than that, the watch is spot on. The original is also powered by the 7750 movement. I have one of these in replica, and let me tell you: it is an amazing watch. A super-replica, as they say. And yes, one has to cut the strap.
  21. The PVD limited edition has no lume at all.
