  1. Yeah, the really bad news is that at only 8 watches at a time, Lani's going to need a hundred of them.
  2. The Bugatti Watch Winder is $100,000 (75,000 Euros).
  3. That oil baron is awesome. Too bad you have to be an actual oil baron to be able to afford it.
  4. This is my grail watch. (Saving my pennies for the gen) Don't ever sell it without PM'ing me first!
  5. Mercedes S Class, car crash, girlfriend... You didn't used to run a restaurant with Dodi Al-Fayed did you? I think that even made the papers. (Not being insensitive, just trying to lift the mood. All the best. )
  6. The listing has long since been pulled. As if trying to scam 40k wasn't bad enough, precipitating an outpouring of poetry is unforgivable...
  7. Wow, glad that didn't end up worse. Very scary to see folk driving like that. Nifty little device too. Should that car that was causing the obstruction really have been stopped right out in the middle of the intersection like that?
  8. Well it didn't take too long I hope the Zigmeister knows how to repair 'Apps'
  9. Ah, happy days! I'll let Bike Mike get back to his 'real' tools
  10. Yes, crystal press / vintanging tool / smasher was "right" The other part of that 'mod' was hitting it hard with a hammer of course. NB For the uninitiated, this was a joke. For another trip down memory lane, if this suddenly arrived by mail from China, what's the most likely explanation and what should you do?
  11. Strictly-speaking whisky is the Scottish spelling and applies to all products from there. Whiskey is the preferred spelling in Ireland & the US and applies to products created in those countries I believe. Whisky tends to be the preferred spelling elsewhere in the world as well, so you'll see whisky being used in Canada and Japan for their products. By definition true Scotch whisky, of course, would apply only to whiskies produced in Scotland. That doesn't stop companies sticking pictures of bagpipes on their local moonshine or whatever though.
  12. While we're waiting on Bike Mike's next round, here's one from the archives... Who remembers the suggested watch repair use for this tool
  13. The Whitsundays are a bit odd because many of the islands you see in photos are islands that can be visited for the day by boat (Whitsunday Island for example) rather than being able to stay on them. Hamilton Island is pretty much the hub for everything because it has an airport, there are also self-contained resorts on Hayman Island, Daydream Island and Lindeman Island. Hamilton Island is a resort island, which means that all accommodation on the island shares in the facilities across it (i.e. all the pools and so on). Everyone gets around by golf buggy. On the plus side, it has more choice for restaurants, and all the day trips and boating will be available from there. On the downside, it doesn't have the white sands and blue water that you see on Whitsunday Island. Definitely don't go during cyclone season though, it's not a lot of fun in the rain.

  15. Superb collection. Absolutely amazing. ......So what's the secret to explaining it all to the wife? If I buy a big ticket watch I get rusty blunt shears waved at me....
  16. That sounds sad......but in a let-me-know-which-shop-so-I-can-descend-like-a-vulture kind of way. Seriously, which shop? Hey, HFC....BRING BACK THE AVATAR. Do it. No problems. The prudes are on hiatus
  17. Maybe they're the spirit of Repgeek's 'ghost' members come to say hello? Or did you accidentally put the next-big-thing-sex-tape up on your server by mistake?
  18. These news stories are classic. That trailer there was used for storing pet food it seems - what could possibly go wrong? I like these ones from this month as well: "Bear invades Trapper Creek pizzeria, spills beer everywhere" "The Parks Highway community of Trapper Creek seems to have been hit unusually hard this summer by delinquent bears....The black bear that raided the pizzeria was shot inside the establishment and, before he died, ran across a bar counter and turned on all the beer taps..." I guess that's what I'd do too http://www.adn.com/2010/08/24/1422560/trapper-creek-copes-with-corps.html Here's more every day life for Nanuq: "When a bear wants to join the hot tub party, what's an ex-governor to do?" "'He knew that there had been a Fourth of July pig roast,'' the former governor said. About all that was left of the roast were two elderly white folk in a hot tub. The bear just looked at them. "He was about three feet from Nancy's shoulder,'' Frank said. "He had his foot on the base of the hot tub.'" http://www.alaskadispatch.com/dispatches/features/6491-when-a-bear-wants-to-join-the-hot-tub-party-whats-an-ex-governor-to-do
