  1. The listing has long since been pulled. As if trying to scam 40k wasn't bad enough, precipitating an outpouring of poetry is unforgivable...
  2. Wow, glad that didn't end up worse. Very scary to see folk driving like that. Nifty little device too. Should that car that was causing the obstruction really have been stopped right out in the middle of the intersection like that?
  3. Well it didn't take too long I hope the Zigmeister knows how to repair 'Apps'
  4. Ah, happy days! I'll let Bike Mike get back to his 'real' tools
  5. Yes, crystal press / vintanging tool / smasher was "right" The other part of that 'mod' was hitting it hard with a hammer of course. NB For the uninitiated, this was a joke. For another trip down memory lane, if this suddenly arrived by mail from China, what's the most likely explanation and what should you do?
  6. Strictly-speaking whisky is the Scottish spelling and applies to all products from there. Whiskey is the preferred spelling in Ireland & the US and applies to products created in those countries I believe. Whisky tends to be the preferred spelling elsewhere in the world as well, so you'll see whisky being used in Canada and Japan for their products. By definition true Scotch whisky, of course, would apply only to whiskies produced in Scotland. That doesn't stop companies sticking pictures of bagpipes on their local moonshine or whatever though.
  7. While we're waiting on Bike Mike's next round, here's one from the archives... Who remembers the suggested watch repair use for this tool
  8. The Whitsundays are a bit odd because many of the islands you see in photos are islands that can be visited for the day by boat (Whitsunday Island for example) rather than being able to stay on them. Hamilton Island is pretty much the hub for everything because it has an airport, there are also self-contained resorts on Hayman Island, Daydream Island and Lindeman Island. Hamilton Island is a resort island, which means that all accommodation on the island shares in the facilities across it (i.e. all the pools and so on). Everyone gets around by golf buggy. On the plus side, it has more choice for restaurants, and all the day trips and boating will be available from there. On the downside, it doesn't have the white sands and blue water that you see on Whitsunday Island. Definitely don't go during cyclone season though, it's not a lot of fun in the rain.

  10. Superb collection. Absolutely amazing. ......So what's the secret to explaining it all to the wife? If I buy a big ticket watch I get rusty blunt shears waved at me....
  11. That sounds sad......but in a let-me-know-which-shop-so-I-can-descend-like-a-vulture kind of way. Seriously, which shop? Hey, HFC....BRING BACK THE AVATAR. Do it. No problems. The prudes are on hiatus
  12. Maybe they're the spirit of Repgeek's 'ghost' members come to say hello? Or did you accidentally put the next-big-thing-sex-tape up on your server by mistake?
  13. These news stories are classic. That trailer there was used for storing pet food it seems - what could possibly go wrong? I like these ones from this month as well: "Bear invades Trapper Creek pizzeria, spills beer everywhere" "The Parks Highway community of Trapper Creek seems to have been hit unusually hard this summer by delinquent bears....The black bear that raided the pizzeria was shot inside the establishment and, before he died, ran across a bar counter and turned on all the beer taps..." I guess that's what I'd do too http://www.adn.com/2010/08/24/1422560/trapper-creek-copes-with-corps.html Here's more every day life for Nanuq: "When a bear wants to join the hot tub party, what's an ex-governor to do?" "'He knew that there had been a Fourth of July pig roast,'' the former governor said. About all that was left of the roast were two elderly white folk in a hot tub. The bear just looked at them. "He was about three feet from Nancy's shoulder,'' Frank said. "He had his foot on the base of the hot tub.'" http://www.alaskadispatch.com/dispatches/features/6491-when-a-bear-wants-to-join-the-hot-tub-party-whats-an-ex-governor-to-do
  14. It was nothing to do with children TeeJay, nothing whatsoever. It could have been a crowd of bodybuilders, it wasn't the issue they had. Good news that it was just a fine. George is too pretty for prison
  15. George: they're unquestionably and undoubtedly petty. What a waste of money, time and resources to spend it on chasing up a guy offering free chess lessons. It's pathetic. But, that applies whether you win or lose. So you might as well win the battle and live to fight another day than go down in flames trying to win the war. Better to win or minimize any fine and show them up for wasting local resources. Or even better, once it's over, shrug it off and get back to your passion. You've got plenty on your plate as it is. Screw them, life it too short to waste it on worrying about people like that, they'll reap what they sow all on their own. All the best with it, and with your health recovery.
  16. Happy Birthday dluddy!! :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  17. George, respectfully (and I hope helpfully), it's not going to be about who is right or who is wrong, it's going to be about one tiny little factual detail and right now all the information they have is coming from your own lips. It's common sense not to have any public videos of you in or near a library or talking about libraries for a few days. Like any game there are rules, and they're the only ones that matter when it comes to winning. In chess there are no prizes for making machine guns noises when you move the pieces, say, or trying to throw or slam dunk the pieces through a hoop. And court cases have rules too. Their job is not to assess fairness, nor sickness, nor nobleness. It's as irrelevant to the outcome as making noises in a chess game. Can they establish if you've done anything against their local ordinances? Let them do the hard work. Don't make it easy for them. Play smarter is my respectful suggestion.
