Here is another one trying to post a 005 replica as a gen - keep them here!! This is what this forum is for and be warned I am one of those people calling out reps on gen forums too - sorry that it makes your blood boil, but I think it is uncool to pass a replica for a genuine...that's not what our hobby is about, isn't it?
I agree though that bashing replica related messages on gen forums is uncalled for.....
here is the link to the 005 replica on timezone:

looks as good as the other Historic Panerai's (111, 112, 176, 177, etc.) usual flaws like the others; recessed cannon pin, poor lume, crown guard, crown, etc.
well, we got a lot lot of interest over at RWI for the GTG in San Francisco - the date has been fixed to March 10th and the location is still being discussed, but it will be in Downtown San Francisco close to public transportation.
It is not too late you can still join us in SF on March 10th - just send me a PM and I will add you to the list of attendees
my holy grail ...someday I will own it
the seller is a little crazy though - the 233 is not a special edition watch and can be bought at ADs for a little over $10k
the recessed date wheel problem can only be fixed if the replica makers would use a Swiss 7753 and update the dial to accommodate for a bigger date wheel cutout and the slightly different position of the date. Currently all modified 7750s with 3,6,9 have to use an extra gear that is position between the dial and the date which is responsible for the recessed problem
assuming that there is only one factory making it you could take the Watchhonpo pictures as a reference:

you should be able to get a Sigma 105mm Macro lens for your Nikon - It received excellent reviews:

the one you are showing below is decorated and it is harded to point out the differences. Here is a picture of the Santos Chrono movement that is a Swiss 7753
if you examine the bridges you will notice that the finish is brushed vs. rough/beadblasted on genuine swiss 7753 undecorated movements, there is also no sign of the Swiss 27 jewels and the 7753 stamp below the balance wheel. The date window on the front of the watch is the biggest indicator that this is no Swiss 7753 - the date wheel on the 7753 has only a very small gap between the dial and the wheel - the recessed date wheel is caused by a gear sitting on top of the datehweel that is only used in Asian 7750s. There are more differences that would require a higher resolution picture to be available - but since the flaws are so obvious I don't think it is required.
the one pictured was introduced in 1997 and ended with the D-series - Panerai assigns letters to each production year, currently we have the I-series
- solid case back - vs. transparent back on 111H
- dial with lume applied on it - numerals on dial cut out and luminous dial below main dial
- crown guard polished and smaller - brushed bolder/bigger crown guard
there are some other differences, like fonts that were used, etc.
so the 111H is the 4th model year of the 111 with the new dial...hope that clarifies things
you should be able to see if the coating is on the outside of the crystal - just press your thumb on it - the smudge should have the blueish color in the ridges...I am not sure if I am explaining this correctly, but I tried on my gen Panerai vs. gen Breitling and the smudges where the obvious givaway for the double sided AR coat.
I had my 25 in for warranty service and I wouldn't be surprised if they installed your crystal upside down...I had some issues after getting my watch back and had to send it in again.
