  1. Lotta hate and ridicule... Despite this watch being extremely unorthodox for Panerai, I'm willing to bet they're going to sell out regardless and also become extremely rare in the future. The high end ristis & collectors over in Shanghai and Hong Kong are going to be all over the 366.
  2. I think you got a pretty good deal ubi, esp with a set of gen hands. They're hard to source (IME), and get snatched up very quickly when posted for sale... good luck with the hunt.
  3. BTW, I gotta say that FGD did a great job on these hands! Spectacular example of Pre-V goodness THANKS SIMON
  4. I'm not a big vintage fan (yet), but I gotta admit this one is stunning!
  5. Thanks for keeping us informed... work in progress is better than nothing, we're rooting for you!
  6. Gears on day/date wheel might be stuck. This is a common problem on Asian 7750 movements. Best bet is to invest in a swiss 7750 and have a watch smith perform a swap, or... attempt to have the A7750 repaired and hope it doesn't break again.

    DSN 27a

Your 027A is looking amazing! This baby is a keeper
  8. Sorry to hear what happened to you, makes us open our eyes and make sure we don't take anything for granted. It's scary too to realize that these things just spring up on us from out of the shadows. I'm not sure if this is bad form for me to ask, but do you have pictures? My apologies if it's too soon

    The 196 DL

seriously, we need more pics of this guy One of my favorite chrono PAMs!
  10. lol, best thread ever! I especially like the happy feet on the logo.
  11. Gotta agree with TX, the lume should be redone... AR also should be removed. Get those two things done and you got yourself a pretty sweet looking watch. That Toro CG looks so nice!
  12. all I can say is good job mate 203/A is looking very bad@ss... and how in the world did you find the PAV OEM strap in such good condition?
  13. Also, try to buy from a sponsor on the boards... there is a risk with buying replica watches, but at least with sponsors you get an extra level of commitment from them as they are tied to the forum. If it were me, I would go for the 42mm PO. Great choices
  14. Looking pretty darn good IMO... you're almost there! How come you're thinking about recoating the lever pin in PVD? I'm pretty certain that most of the 203/A (pictures) that I've seen, the pin is left uncoated in SS. Best description I can give is that it's slightly brushed concentrically, some pics look polished and slightly darkened but it looks good in the raw SS form. What are your thoughts on this?
  15. That's why there are forums like these At least we get a chance to talk watch stuff somewhere... otherwise, where would we go?
  16. Sometimes though, getting a dent/ding on a new watch will drive you nuts! And of course, it really depends on where the dent/ding is on the watch I personally welcome the natural aging of the beating watches have to go through on our wrists. Every once in a while you'll hit a door frame or knock the watch accidently against a desk, I see them as signs that the watch has been worn and appreciated. I admit to the odd polishing/buffing once every few months though... gives the finish a nice revitilization and a fresh new feel. Of course, the deeper scars and dings stay with the watch, but the annoying swirls of desk diving and light scrapes are conveniently gone.
  17. Well, that newer "slightly" polished crowns looks great w/o the slant.

    IWC GST Ti

I haven't seen these in leathers, nor have I seen any other aquatimers sporting leather straps. I do however remember reading that there was an old strap maker that would do this, but the limitation comes with having the IWC lug system stay in place. I think the strapmaker gutted a lug system out of a rubber strap, and "fused" the leather and the metal somehow to make the lug system work with the leather. It was a long time since I read this so I don't have the link. Also, the older aquatimers used to have a nylon strap "adapter" which pretty much extended the lugs outward by one bracelet link. At the end of the link there was an attachment so that you could loop your nylon strap through. I don't see those too often now either, but they pop up once in a while (search eBay for full sets of the older aquatimer). Good luck though, if you find something let us know!
  19. Very very nice pencil-lead-like finish. It looks so smooth! I'm always so scared to wear my PVD watches in fear of scratching off or chipping the coating, but then again... it brings more character to the watch with age. Wear it well!
  20. That sure is interesting... wonder how it's gona sell. This gets me wondering when they'll attempt the 312
